Ch 9
Xander POV
●●●●
I wince at the loss.
“Rami, I hate this game.
Shit, I lost it again.
Twice since the morning.
Find out the details about the makers.
Fuck them”
I growl out, as I take my phone to throw it in the air but decides otherwise as I turn it off before sliding it inside my pocket.
Realizing not to act on my temper.
Well, that's what my therapist says.
Take a deep breath when you feel smashing things.
“You may be good at business.
But when it comes to video game, I am not sure sir”
Ramsey grins, as he brings me a drink.
And few people turn eyes at me.
Like they are surprised that I'm drinking this early.
So, I raise my glass calling the crowd
“Let the party begins”
A small chuckles escapes my throat, as I gulp down the tequila shot in a go.
“Now I feel better”
I comment, as I place the empty glass back in Ramsey's hand.
And when I turn around, I notice the dude.
But he doesn't gain my attention.
The girl next to him does.
I knew it was her since the minute I walked inside the boardroom.
That's the reason, I sat right opposite to her.
So, she will get a closer look at me.
Well, in the daylight.
In my arena.
“I'm not trying to disregard you, sir.
But the minimum worth of this deal is three billion.
You bid it for two and half.
This will surely be a loss for us, if my calculations are right”
Ramsey comments, as I keep my eyes focused on her.
Her black tight skirt that has lifted her ass.
Plain boring black heels.
Boring white shirt, her hair pinned neatly.
No makeup on her face.
Small freckles down her chin.
Her beautiful lips.
Something is so different in her that it makes me want to crawl her in my arms…
“Rami, you're right.
It is a loss.
But it doesn't matter if we are winning”
I speak out, and when she turns around leaving through the crowd.
I know I got to find her, but she stops when the dude, if I'm not wrong, he is the secretary of Howard.
Named…
Vance?
We have a history.
The Bailey's.
And one thing in common.
We hate each other.
But that doesn't matter now.
What matters is, her.
I got to get her under my wing.
“I don't understand.
Then why would you bid so low?
Less than par”
Ramsey shrugs, confusion behind his voice.
“Because Rami, the real win for me is the ownership.
I want to expand.
Not by taking these petty deals.
But by sitting down in the managerial position.
And I know it's going to be a loss.
But I am going to get sponsors.
Sponsors don't expect money in return.
They expect much more.
And the minute my name is listed on the company.
The value will go high.
The profit we make will be more than the loss.
They expected me to do a transaction here.
But they forgot that I am a businessman.
Not any But the best.
I am here to win”
I explain the kid.
I am not sure if he will understand, though.
Yet, I try…
“You look blank.
Don't worry, I'll keep you around for much longer.
So, you will know things better.
Now, I want you to do something for me”
I grab his shoulder, as I turn him around quickly.
“Look at her.
The women who was sitting next to Howard's secretary.
I want to know who she is.
Everything about she
do you hear me, Rami?
Find every detail about her.
What position she works in Bailey's company.
And I am going to offer her a better position.
For better money.
Now go.
Find the details.
I want her, Rami”
I pat on his back, as I remove my tux.
Not wanting to feel like an old creep as I know I will follow her.
“Okay sir.
I'm on it”
Rami nods.
And I hand him over my blazer.
“I guess I forgot something”
I smirk at him, a knowing smile as I head toward the direction she last left.

Madeline POV
□□□□
I sigh relived knowing I can leave.
Vance told he can wait until the results is out.
We spoke to Howie, he really hopes that we are going to get this deal.
He is positive.
And I hope for that, too.
Luckily, I didn't cross his way.
Xander.
I have no idea what kind of man he is.
But all I know is, I got to stay away from him.
I hope he doesn't recognize me.
The whole day I have sneaked around.
Now, I'm going to take the bus home.
Stevie is having a flu, Nancy is with her.
Hopefully, she will be fine soon.
I have texted Nancy that I'm going to be home soon, as she wanted to leave early.
I hope she agrees to live with us.
Dabbing some water to a tissue, I press it against my neck, unbuttoning a few of my shirt buttons.
Breathing normal.
Today was so rough.
Especially the anxiety of seeing him.
Right across the table.
And after knowing who he is.
It became worst.
It was so foolish of me.
But I did, is what I had to do.
Taking a deep breath, I splash some cold water against my face.
And let my hair free.
My legs are aching, but I have got a pair of flip-flops in my bag.
The minute I leave this building, I'll throw this heels back to its cover.
“I didn't know we were going to be on our second date this early.
I mean, you looked eager to see me”
The voice rings loud in the background And I hear the door shutting close
Making me jump on my step.
My hands coming forward to my chest, which is rising heavy.
“Did I scare you? s**t, my bad”
He smiles, his hands in his pocket.
So calm!
“What…
What are you doing here?”
I stutter, taking a step back.
Scared…
Why would he follow me here?
And I quickly look around the room.
Looking if someone is there to help me out.
“This is the ladies room.
You are in the wrong place”
I manage to murmur, as I try to compose myself.
“I'm in the right place.
And it looks like it's just you and me.
Again”
He smirks, as walks in front of the mirror.
Running his hand through his dark black hair.
His brown eyes staring at my mirror reflection!
How can someone be this intimidating?
Even without saying anything wrong
“You should leave.
This is for the ladies”
I raise my voice.
Like I want to warn him.
But I lack the confidence it requires.
“We can leave together.
I told you, I'm not letting you go next time.
And this is our next time.
Too soon, right?
I guess we are meant to be.
Maybe this is our moment”
He speaks out, his voice deep.
As he turns around facing me.
Crossing his arms, as he asks.
No, an order.
“Go out with me Madeline”
