"She should leave early to the castle." Alpha Noah told Emmett. Emmett nodded and kissed Evangeline's head and walked out. Alpha Noah did the same but turned towards Damon.

"Stay here and watch over her. I need to kill the man who did it." Alpha Noah's eyes turned as black as night.

Damon nodded and stroked Evangeline's head in adoration, loving, with admiration for his beloved mate. He watched her. Promising he would always be there.

Yet he had no idea what was to come. No one did.

I felt nothing. Complete nothingness.

What happened to me?

Where was I?

Was I alive?

Was I dead?

Questions ran through my mind then I heard a voice.

"Come back to me Angel. Let me see your beautiful eyes." And I did.

I saw her lying on the bed lifeless. The steady tump of her heart gave me hope. She started to stir.

"Come back to me Angel. Let me see your beautiful eyes." Her soft groans filled the air.

Her eye lids started to flutter. I held her hand and went closer to her. With gentle movements her eyes fluttered open to reveal her emeralds.

"Damon." She crocked. I got a glass of water immediately and helped her up. She drank with a little unicorn straw.

"Angel slow down." I cautioned her. While she rolled her eyes playfully.

"What happened?" She asked quietly.

"You were stabbed. The blade barely missed your heart." I explained to her. Thoughts of losing her filled my mind. My wolf whimpered. Evie cupped my face and placed a passionate kiss on my lips.

"I'm fine my love. Perfectly fine." She tried to reassure me.

"No you're not. You could have died and the worst part was that I wasn't there to protect you. What kind of mate am I?" I pulled away from her.

"A very good one. Damon I do not need or want you to protect me. I'm a warrior and a damn good one. I'm not a damsel in distress. Not now, Not ever." She said through her teeth. She took a breath.

"I don't want you to protect me because I can do it myself. I've trained my entire life and even if I had not I'd still not want protection."she said.

"I'm your mate. I not only want to protect you but it's my duty as your mate Evangeline." I used her full name.

"Your duty is to love and care as I have the same to you."she cupped my face once more.

"In this Short time I have discovered my love for you. I do not wish to lost what I have just only received. Not now, Not ever." I told her not skipping a beat.

"Then always and forever. Promise me." She whispered softly to me as if someone was listening.

"Always and forever." I promised.

"So you won't hate me if I kick your ass." She joked.

"That would really Kill my ego." I deadpanned.

"To bad. She flashed a wide grin. What have I gotten myself into??
