06 - Hiding Captives

1191 Words
"My mother killed your mother?" Cassie repeated Cedric's sentence into a question. "That's what happened," answered Cedric, still looking straight at Cassie. Cassie immediately snorted harshly. "You must be crazy," she accused Cedric. Of course, Cassie couldn't just believe Cedric's words because she knew Evelyn very well. If someone asked who understood Evelyn best, Cassie would answer that she understood this woman best. So Cedric's sentence is definitely a lie because Cassie knows very well that Evelyn has never had anything to do with the royal family. Cassie thinks Cedric is just stringing together rumours to catch her, even though Cassie still doesn't know the man's purpose for catching her like this. Cassie gasped as Cedric stepped forward and covered her mouth again with the cloth. "I already thought that you wouldn't believe it, you definitely wouldn't want to accept the fact that Evelyn was a murderer." Cassie immediately looked at Cedric with hatred, but Cedric ignored her, he preferred to pay attention outside the horse-drawn carriage, rather than continuing to talk to Cassie, which over time only aroused his emotions. Several hours later, the horse-drawn carriage arrived at the Gridwald Kingdom. Cedric ordered it to stop in front of the main gate. As soon as David wanted to ask the Prince about this sudden decision, Cedric had already taken Cassie out of the carriage. "David, take this girl to the west prison, and try not to let anyone see," Cedric told David. David looked very surprised by this decision. He saw that Cassie didn't care about the current situation. "Prince Cedric, you can't do that," David said formally because they were in front of several other beta guards at the moment. "David, this is an order, just do as I say," Cedric stressed once again. Cedric already knew that his personal bodyguard would refuse the assignment. "I will take full responsibility if something happens later." "It's not just about responsibility, Cedric," David immediately interrupted, quickly with a smaller intonation. “What are you planning?" David demanded, trying to find out what was inside Cedric's head. Cedric knew that David was currently worried about him. As someone closest to him, David certainly wouldn't want Cedric to get into trouble again. Even without asking, David should have been able to guess what Cedric was thinking, it's just that Beta kept asking because he wanted to hear directly whether Cedric would be honest with him. Cedric immediately took a deep breath. “I will hide that girl for a while.” “Prince Cedric —” "Just do what I say, David!" Cedric said sharply. “I will report to King Carlos now, so take the girl away from here now.” If Cedric had already been angry like that, David would no longer have had a chance to stop him. "Okay, Prince Cedric, I will carry out your orders now." David took Cassie from Cedric's hands, then took the girl back into the horse-drawn carriage. David and Cedric also changed places, this time Cedric got on a horse and entered the palace, while the horse-drawn carriage containing David and Cassie would be taken to the West side where the special prison was located. During the trip to the west side, David didn't stop watching Cassie so seriously that the girl felt uncomfortable because David's gaze felt like he wanted to kill her right now. Cassie struggled as hard as she could when David took her into a quiet alley. This place was quite far from the main area of the Kingdom, and Cassie didn't see anyone except two guards on the front side of the alley. “Walk properly, or I will cut off both your legs now!” David's threat was no joke because Cassie couldn't keep quiet since then. Cassie realized that earlier, Cedric had not tied the cloth covering her mouth tightly. The fabric had loosened, and Cassie could remove it easily by moving her head. "Just try cutting off these two legs, I'm sure that man will kill you straight away if you do that to me," said Cassie as soon as the mouthpiece was removed. "How could that be?!" David was surprised to hear that Cassie could talk. David quickly moved to cover her mouth again, but Cassie continued to dodge. "Wait a moment! Don't cover my mouth anymore, I can't breathe because the ties are too tight!” "It would be better if you died that way," David replied heartlessly. Cassie glared, why did this man want Cassie to die early? “That man will kill you too if I die!” “That man has a name! He is the Third Prince of this Kingdom, Prince Cedric Savier, so act more politely in front of him. You will get a severe punishment if you are bold towards him, especially since you are a prisoner here. I will be happy to punish you very severely." The man's lips were sinister when he said his last sentence. 'So, he is the third prince in this Kingdom... Prince Cedric,' Cassie automatically stored that line of name in his memory. “Why didn't you answer me?!” On the other hand, David felt annoyed because the girl in front of him suddenly became silent after continuing to speak very impolitely to him. "You taught me to be polite, but you were also impudent towards your own Prince," said Cassie without any fear since earlier she had been paying attention to the interactions between Cedric and David. Cassie said their conversation didn't sound like a prince and a bodyguard. Still, somehow, the two of them sounded closer. "I've known Prince Cedric for decades, so don't compare me to you," David's voice had a hint of pride, and Cassie could hear it very clearly. “Then it will be more difficult for you to kill me because I have an important role here. That man needs me because I am the child of the woman he hates, so if I die, he won't be able to get any information about Evelyn.” This time, Cassie was the one who could smile proudly because she had managed to silence David with just a few sentences. What Cassie said was true, Cedric certainly needed a lot of information about Evelyn from Cassie because she was Evelyn's daughter. David chuckled. He couldn't fight the girl anymore. So, David grabbed Cassie and took her to one of the holding cells in the prison. Cassie just gave in and didn't fight anymore this time because it was useless. Her strength was no more significant than the beta beside her. Instead of wasting energy, Cassie would be better off finding a way to leave this place. Cassie doesn't know exactly what happened, but seeing Cedric and David's little argument a few moments ago made the girl's smart brain start analyzing the situation. Cassie guessed that she was currently being held as a prisoner who was being hidden. 'I have to buy time to find out several things and at the same time find a way to leave this Kingdom,' Cassie had already made a plan very well.
