LILY
Her, date Baran? Had she really suggested that? Lily cringed as she pulled out her phone to text Katya. It was a great way to avoid Baran’s scrutinizing gaze. After a month’s absence he was back in her life and had made it clear he was staying, at least for a while.
He’d left his car in the middle of the parking lot.
“I’m just letting Katya know I’m going without her,” she explained. “I told her we’d walk together.”
“Walk?” He looked as if it was a foreign word.
“Yes, the theater is just a ten-minute walk from here.” He clearly didn’t like that, which only made her want to do it more. “You can go by car if you want.”
“We will go together.”
