Ruby`s POV

We walked through many passageways and stairs as this place was just too big.

By “We” I meant me stalking and following behind Prince Kai while being invisible.

Finally, he stopped behind a huge golden door causing me to stop walking too.

With an angry huff, the highly tempered Dragon Prince roughly pushed the doors. Slamming them wide open, and entered.

After entering and following behind, I paused stunned by the sight in front of me.

First was gazing right into these captivating amber hazel eyes. An exotic hypnotizing mix of shifting colors consisting of these mesmerizing golden flecks.

Then was the way the owner of those eyes, both arrogantly and lazily sat there...on a throne made of gold and encrusted in gems. A dominating demeanor as if he was just sitting on an ordinary sofa, declaring himself to be the real gold instead.

As if trying to commit a crime by killing all females with his sexiness, he was shirtless and with no shame too. Confidently bare-chested and showing off that six-pack-built upper body. Only wearing sexy long black colored pants, made of the same magical material as my clothes.

“Oh man,” I whispered inwardly as I suddenly found myself acting thirsty and gulping as my eyes traced every inch of that bare revealed skin.

I started feeling self-embarrassment at how I was shamelessly eye r****g this male in front of me, like he was a free for all buffet.

My eyes quickly went back to his face instead, only to be enamored again. That sharp chiseled jaw to those sexy lips which he was unknowingly biting. 

I found myself even jealous of those mid-length, Jet coal curls of hair on his head. With some falling on to that handsome looking face and giving him that bad boy rugged look. Plus that sexy stubble with which my hands inched to run through.

He was really quite a sight, to leave me stunned like this. Even his background was hotter too as there was a real waterfall of flipping LAVA flowing downwards endlessly.

I knew if I walked over to that see-through window and looked down, I would see a real lake of burning lava right below.

But I avoided walking over and passing by him to go check. As his intenseness was just too much even for me. He just had that kind of “come near me if you dare,” kind of vibe. He was dangerous!

“Aerox, why did you summon Me!” Prince Kai quickly said to him. An annoyed scowl on his face.

“Oh, did I,” that delicious sight of a male replied. Almost making me swoon at the irresistible and honeyed rich deep tone in his voice- sounding sort how I imagined my whiskey would sound if it had a voice. 

Which was a pretty big compliment coming from an alcoholic vampire who was even...craving a drink right now.

 As I stared mesmerized by that sexy smirk on his face, I quickly knew something was wrong with me. For I had seen many handsome men in my life and none had EVER made me react like this! And to make it worse he was the evil freaking Dragon King,

The one I was here to spy on and help to have killed in the next war to come. I was really out of my mind to be looking at him like this. I quickly pulled myself together and tried to focus on the conversation instead.

But those unique eyes seemed to make it difficult as they looked like they were staring right at me…at times.  As if he could see me standing there invisible right next to his young brother! Which was impossible.

“Stop playing with me AEROX! I have better things to do than to be here.” Prince Kai snapped back at his brother`s reply.

“My little brother Kai, always so easy to rile up.” He first said, an amused tone in that addictive sounding voice.

“I summoned you here to talk about the previous battle.” He continued now instantly with a serious expression, easily switching up moods like it was nothing.

“What about it…” Kai quickly said defensively as if he already knew what was coming.

“Why did your army almost lose the last battle, forcing me to show up and save the day,” Aerox replied now with an unblinking expression and a deadly calm tone in his voice. 

My ears quickly perked up, after all this is what I was here for. To get war information!

“Maybe it’s because you refused to listen to me as your army general! I told you to force a royal order on ALL of our people to fight and join the war. :

"Instead you give them all an option to fight if they want to. It's why we were short of volunteer Dragons to fight, with only a third of the numbers and almost lost,” Prince Kai snapped back, still with that angry expression of his.

Hearing this made me realize how dire the risk was for the Elven Kingdom.

For they had only been facing and struggling against a third of the Dragon population, these volunteering Dragon soldiers and the troll army.

But what would happen if ALL of the Dragonians decided to fight and join the war? Such a full force of Dragons would decimate the elves and the elven kingdom.

“Our People are Dragonians. It is their right and freedom to choose to fight or not fight in this war of yours from the ground.” Aerox replied,

Prince Kai seemed easy to read as he fully expressed his emotions on his face. 

Whereas the Dragon King spotted a dangerous blank expression, never showing his true emotions. Which left you unsure of what he was really thinking or feeling. Whether it was good or bad.    

“War of MINE? Don’t act as if you do not want or support this war too, BROTHER! Just like me, you also want REVENGE TOO!” Kai first shouted looking highly offended. While Aerox just silently and calmly stared at him, looking like he was a deadly ticking bomb waiting to explode.

And what revenge were they talking about? As far as I knew right now, it was the Elves who deserved revenge. Or was there more to the story which I did not know?

“If only I was the one blessed with those Dragon King powers of yours! I would have already visited where our enemies reside and burned them and their city to ashes at once."

"But instead, you hesitate brother, refusing to unleash your full powers and put them to their good use. This war could have already been over before it started if only you just stopped holding yourself back!” Kai finished now glaring at his brother.

Making me wonder what kind of power was this, that could enable the Dragon King to destroy a whole kingdom on his own.

“Unlike you Kai, if its soldiers in a battle, yes I will gladly kill them for you. But I will not rush to burn a whole kingdom to the ground and end up killing innocent mothers and children living there. Not until I know nothing but the whole truth.”

“Once I have all the missing pieces of what happened that night, then I will truly unleash my wrath on the ones, the perpetrators who all directly did it.” Hearing Aerox say that, made me actually start thinking that maybe he was not that bad after all.

“I know you think I do not care about the past Kai. I do care. I miss and think about them every single day.” Aerox replied making me wonder who them was. 

The many stories behind this war seemed to be getting more and more complicated. 

“Oh, and by the way who is this very…delicious smelling, someone that you brought with you,” The Dragon King added with low rumble before Kai could say anything more,

My eyes quickly widened as I looked behind, wondering if he was talking about someone else. Or if someone new had entered the room.

“You thought I would not notice Kai but I already did. Is it your secret hidden assassin maybe, here to try to assassinate me so you can get the throne,” He implied while giving his young brother an amused smirk,

“What are you talking about, I came here alone.” Kai snapped back looking confused.

“I would not put it past you brother as you tried once before and failed. However, I see honesty in your eyes therefore it means…” After saying that, the Dragon King`s voice trailed and stopped.

But my senses quickly went on high alert as I saw Aerox now stare at his brother with a deadly serious expression. Looking as if they were now having a mental conversation.

It looked similar to how we vampires looked when sharing mind link. Especially the change in emotions on Prince Kai`s face as if he was not believing whatever Aerox was telling him.

Not wanting to find out if I was right or wrong, I quickly turned around about to leave and run to the door. However, I was a second too late as I only found myself in trouble,

This was because of Prince Kai finally listening to his brother, even if he could not yet see me. That he moved with such speed which I did not expect and now held me harshly by the neck.

“YOU,” Prince Kai snarled after instantly recognizing me. This was as I squirmed and struggled from his deadly tight hold, causing me to lose focus and reveal myself.
