Moving Day!
Third Person POV
Echo is looking around her now, empty bedroom, of the family home, she once shared with her parents and little brother.
But as she looks around she is saddened by the turns of events, that had, happened this year, and tears start to roll down her cheeks.
Her best friend, Taya runs to her side and embraces her in a hug letting her sob on her shoulder.
You see her Mom, Dad, and little brother were killed in a car accident, right before Christmas.
A drunk driver was out celebrating a new job and better pay, to support his growing family.
But he had one too many, then got behind the wheel of his car...
This not only affected his life but Echos as well, as she lost her whole world, that day!
She was left an orphan, by his decision on that one particular night!
Her world was starting to spin out of control, not only did she lose her family, that night.
But her boyfriend of three years, who she thought she would be with forever, started to get not only emotionally abusive, towards her but also started to lay his hands on her.
Her best friend Taya's, the family took her in, as she had no other family.
But she thought Devin, was her family, as they use to talk about getting married once they graduate high school, and starting a family too.
Now with nothing holding her back, she decided to adventure off to California.
Where she has always wanted to go, and of course, Taya couldn't let her go, on her own so she decided to join her. In this adventure as they have done everything together since the fourth grade.
She and Taya applied and got accepted into a college there, Taya's family wasn't happy at first but decided to let the girls go and fulfill their dreams.
Both girls graduated with honors and a 4.0 GPA. But now that the day has come and the girls are moving emotions of everyone involved are running high.
Taya's parents are wondering if they are doing the right thing by letting the girls run off by themselves.
Both Taya and Echo can see the emotions in their eyes, as both of the girls almost called this off last night themselves.
But for Echo, she needed to escape the memory of all that has happened. She sold her family home and is ready to just move on and make new fresh memories.
Taya, being the best friend anyone could ask for, wasn't going to let her best friend adventure out on her own.
Not when they made a pack to always be together throughout all the good and bad times no matter what.
She made a pinky promise the first day they met, and she knew they were meant to be best friends forever!
Echo let go of Taya and smiled at her best friend, even though it didn't reach her eyes, Taya didn't say anything.
Echo let out a loud sigh, and then grabbed Taya's hand and dragged her out of her family home.
She turned one last time and took a picture, and then she said goodbye to the only home she had known for the last 15 years since they moved to that town.
Taya's parents were standing there by the haul truck, the girls had rented for their trip. Tears started to form in their eyes especially Taya's mom Tonya.
Taya is their only child and a miracle baby! As Tonya was told she could never have children so when she got pregnant with Taya they were over the moon.
They all hugged and try to stop crying.
****Echo's POV***
I just imagine my parents, here with us. I know they are watching over me. My mom and I would be bawling too just like Taya and Tonya.
Taya's dad Tony just looks on, you can tell he is emotional too, but since he is a guy, he doesn't show his feeling as we do.
I think this is stupid, as I know for a fact and so does Taya, that her dad is sad about the move they have even talked about moving to California, too just to be near us.
So when he doesn't shed a tear we both pull him into a hug and whispered, how much we love him and are going to miss him.
This is all it takes and he is full-blown crying now. Which makes us look at each other, we didn't mean to make him cry, like that. We just wanted him to know it's okay to be sad, and that we love and will miss him so much. We will miss both of them so much.
Taya's mom pulls away from our group hug, she said you two need to go now. Before we don't let you leave.
She and Taya's dad started to walk towards their car. They both turn to look at us, one more time. We blow kisses and then Taya and I get inside the u-haul truck and start the engine.
We look at each other, and both say at the same time. It's now or never. And on that note, Taya put the truck in drive and we started on our long journey, to California.
We did a lot of sightseeing and talked. We have never laughed and talked as much as we did during this trip.
We both love to sing too, so our voices are so hoarse now. We have been on our new journey for three days, now. As we wanted to stop and see some of the beautiful places on the way.
Only two more days, and we will begin our new life as college students. "We squeal out, in excitement!"
Taya was the first to talk, after that. She said thank you, for being my best friend, and my sister. " I love you so much, and I am so grateful that we can experience this together."
