Jae joined the Pride Riders’ f*******: group and confirmed that he would be coming along on their next adventure. This time, Amir wasn’t dreading it. He wasn’t looking forward to seeing Declan again, but then again, if he was supposed to learn to improve himself by figuring out what he did not want in a relationship, he had to identify what it was about Declan—other than the usual annoying white guy habits—that got under his skin.
So it was with mild and momentary disappointment that Amir arrived at Wompatuck State Park to discover that Declan would not be there that day. “He’s not feeling well,” Jae explained. “I almost stayed home with him, but I’ve really been looking forward to this and he knows that, so he said I could still come.
