Chapter 2

~QUINN~ It was so f*****g annoying how alcohol that was supposed to be one of the quickest solutions to drown one's depression turned out to be useless when it came to my situation. Well, I had to thank my werewolf genes for that. At this moment, the moon goddess deserved four middle fingers from me, if that was even possible. I was sure she was laughing at my predicament at the moment. I wouldn't blame her though. It was a predicament I put myself in. I looked around the bar. There was so much chatter. Nothing more than the usual. Men drinking and gossiping. On the TV stationed on the far left, a sports program played. I switched my attention back to the chattering around me, hoping to find something of interest. This was something I had not done in the past nine months. Socializing. I think this was what a wolf benefited being as social as we were. Lack of it seemed to give me a sort of weakness. I was startled when a tray of glass was placed into my front. I glanced at the dainty hand leaving the tray and then to the large exposed cleavage beneath a white blouse. My gaze strayed further up to a pair of blue eyes. The blue eyes belonged to the waitress who worked in the bar. At that moment, they held mischief. "Hello, sir." she smiled sweetly. "This is your order. "Your seventh order," she added dryly as an afterthought. "Thank you, babydoll." I grinned, taking the glass and making sure to trace her hands. Her slight shiver was enough to stir me up. I could have sworn I caught a moan escape her lips. "I don't know how you do it," she said. "What do you mean?" I took a sip, raising an eyebrow. "How you don't stay drunk." she folded her arms accentuating her large bust to my gaze. I licked my lips remembering how many times I had motorboated those fun bags and had a taste of the juicy n*****s hidden beneath. During my nine months of patronage to the bar, she had caught my eye after her first service. Her desperate attraction to my looks and charms reeked to the high heavens and I capitalized on it. Of course she couldn't resist and I had taken her to an hotel. The rest is history. Thankfully, she understood my terms. Our relationship was strictly friends with benefits. I had enough PTSD to deal with from anything romantic. Considering where it led me to. "Why I don't get drunk?" I said. "Well, let's just say it's a little secret." "I will find out some day." she cooed, tracing a finger over my bicep. "You won't keep it a secret forever." "Good luck with that," I winked at her. My attention switched to the men who had walked into the bar at that moment. The suits and sunglasses matched and almost made them look like identical twins. "Time for business, love," I forced a smile to the waitress. She looked at the men and her brows lifted in understanding. "Got it. I'll get their orders." She turned around and walked away, but not before I discreetly spanked that bubble ass of hers. She squealed in surprise and swiftly glanced around the bar in slight worry. Thankfully, only a few people saw that and they happened to be women. They gave me wistful looks but I couldn't give two f***s. Not my fault they didn't catch my eye. The waitress had recovered from her shock and gave me a playfully stern gaze. "Naughty." She wagged a finger, before walking away. I gave the luscious ass that she deliberately shook one last gaze before I turned to the men who had reached my table. "Quinn," one of them, an ebony haired man said. "Jace," I replied with a curt nod of my own. "Clyde." I nodded to the other guy. "Where's your boss?" I asked. "Usually, he's always leading the fray." "He's kind of occupied." Jace said. I nodded. Ever since my new life away from my pack, I had become something of a mecenary for hire. Julio, a mafian boss, was my client and he paid big. He was one of the popular ones and his goal was to eliminate any competition. According to him, there should only be one king of the mountain. He was unaware of my werewolf abilities and the only thing he cared was that I got the job done. I hurt his competition and put them on notice. The money I got was what I could take care of my basic needs. Food, drinks and shelter. The waitress had arrived and placed their drinks before them. "The usual." She smiled at them. They nodded and she walked away. Again I was drawn to that ass. I made a mental note. When I was done with work, I hoped to tap it. Nothing sweetened my memory than her moans and her ass bouncing against my c**k when I plowed her from behind. I heard the men clear their threat and I looked at them. "To business." Jace said, handing me a thick brown file. I sipped from my glass and pulled a paper from within it. It contained the picture of a big man. He was balding and had thick brown mustache. Alongside the picture were a few written details. "Someone stepped on the big man's foot apparently," I said. "Worse!" Clyde said. "He kidnapped his daughter.' "f*****g shit." I winced. "That guy must have a death wish." "He does," Jace said. "that's where you come in." The looks on their faces portrayed the message. I mentally cringed after the interpretation. I was to take a life. This was new. "Apparently, we've got one heck of a tip" Jace said. "They are planning to move her and some other children away." "Other kids were kidnapped?" Against my will, I squeezed the glass and the cracks formed. Their eyes widened in surprise. Realizing my error, released my hold before I could further expose myself. "Sorry," I said. They looked at each other and then to me. "Yeah," Clyde said. "They are supposed to meet by this border." He passed another file to me and I looked at it. "Understood." I nodded. "Your boss will get his daughter. I guarantee it." "Without a doubt." Clyde had a rare smile. "We don't know how you do it, but you're one hell of a f*****g one man army." "Yeah." I sipped, an empty filling within me as I was reminded yet of being a lone wolf. Figuratively and literally. ********** I closed the door behind me and switched on the light. A tired yawn left my lips as I opened my jacket and tossed it away carelessly. Plans for hooking up with the waitress had to be shifted. She was disappointed but accepted it nonetheless. She had no choice. It's not like I was running away or something. Money was first and it was the only thing helping me maintain the cabin that I purchased months ago from that old man. A hot shower later, I sat on my bed staring at the ground before me. All memories and incidents of the past few months began to play. I was a lone werewolf. And for a good reason. I was exiled from my pack for a serious crime. A crime of trying to overthrow my Alpha. And I was not alone. My accomplice in crime, a woman named Meredith and my lover, was exiled along with me. Along the time, we drifted apart and then I left her somewhere in a distant city before I moved on. I just could not stay any longer with her. Each time I saw her face, I remembered my crimes. I counted myself lucky though. The alpha was a lenient one. Any other pack that this happened and I would not be alive to witness the present day. I took my phone from the bedstand and went through the gallery. One one section it was a picture of me, Meredith and another woman, Gabriella, the gamma wolf of my former pack. I heard the declaration just before my exile. Gabriella was now the beta wolf of my pack. As much as it hurt, I was glad for her. Turns out, she was another pawn in Meredith's plans. I went to another section and paused. It was a picture of me sixteen years ago. I was twelve at that time. I smirked at the picture. It was me along with my parents. Mum had a smile and Dad looked like he was the proudest man in the word. I swiped. This one was the same picture of me in my late teens. I stood beside my former Alpha and some other teenagers and we posed for the camera. Feeling the nostalgia hurt me to my soul, I tossed the phone on my bed and buried my face in my palms, regretting what I threw away because of a stupid sentiment. I was a f*****g i***t.
