Chapter 4

Amy’s POV I was lying on the bed and it was a sound sleep I had after such a long time. I woke up to see Diana resting her head on the armrest and Velibor was holding my hand as he rested his head on the bed while he sat on the floor. It was not long before Diana woke up and hugged me. “My Amy! How are you feeling?”, she asked as she moved the bangs from my forehead. Velibor woke up to our talks and immediately freed my hand. I was staring at my hand which was now freed from his grasp yet, I missed his warm touch. I tried not to blush and tried to keep my composure. Diana smiled at me as she handed me a bowl of porridge. “Ew! Diana, I’m not sick! I was just a little stressed out that doesn’t mean you have to force feed porridge to me!”, I screamed Diana never gave up she had me finish the whole thing. Gosh, I was not a patient for god sake! Velibor was looking anxious as he tapped his foot. I have always noticed him tapping his foot in a weird manner every time he gets anxious. I think I know why he is anxious and Diana was in no good shape either. Both of them pretended to be fine but, I knew they wanted to know what was wrong with me. I took a deep breath and looked up at Diana as she placed the empty bowl on the trap. Velibor had a knot on his forehead as he was lost in deep thoughts. “I’ve something I need to tell you guys”, I finally spoke. Diana turned towards me as she patted my head and Velibor was now alert and looking at me intently. I gasped a bit of air in my lungs as I tried to remind myself of what had happened on that night. I closed my eyes and bit my lips as I tried to relive the horror I had seen that night. “Amy, you don’t have to force yourself”, Said Diana, as she rubbed my back. “I have to do this. I need to get this out of my system or I’ll just get worse and worse”, I said as I started to take in quick breaths. I was offered a glass of water by Diana which I refused. I reached out for her and Velibor’s hands as I pressed my lips real tight. “Okay, what I’m about to say is something very horrendous and insane which has been haunting me since that night”, I said. “We are here for you, Amy”, Said Diana. Velibor’s eyes examined me keenly to make sure I was alright. He never said a word and was trying to act as normal as possible. “It was 30th April, and I was working till 12 AM as usual. Diana, was also stuck at work so, she had already informed that she was going to spend the night at the office as she had to finish the final paper works of her last case”, I said as I recollected the smell of the strong coffee I was brewing ---------------------------30th April, night 11:30PM------------------------------------------------ The cafe was crowded till 11PM and I was quite busy serving the customers. I had taken an order for a red velvet cake for a bunch of college youngsters who were celebrating their classmate’s birthday It was a cheerful crowd and other customers were also enjoying their time. After serving the customers, I was back at my counter experimenting the recipe for brewing a new type of latte. Most of my customers had left the cafe by 11:30PM and I was all by myself as I continued to write down few ingredients I needed to try out my other recipe. It was only after I had finished writing the ingredients, I heard the bell on the door. I looked up to see a very odd looking man taking a seat at the table diagonally opposite to my counter. He was very strange indeed. He never said a word and sat at the table. This was the first time I hesitated to ask for the order from my customer. He looked very scary and carried an aura that screamed danger from miles away. This man was wearing black jeans paired with a black jacket hoodie along with black gloves and had a black mask that covered his face. This man was so hideously dressed that could scare anyone in the middle of the night. The only feature of his that was visible to me were his bloodshot eyes that carried a dead look in them. They were the most devious green eyes which could scare the day lights out of anyone they glare at. I mustered the courage to ask for his order. As I walked towards him, never once did he look away from me. I could tell that his eyes were a very prominent and most notable feature in his whole appearance. He was also a giant! He could have been easily a 6’5”. I didn’t notice his body but, I could tell one wouldn’t want to mess with him. I walked up to him to ask his order. “Good evening Sir, may I know what you’d like”, I asked He was very strange he pointed on latte from the menu instead of talking. I was now very suspicious of his being. I was sure he must be some thug or a run-away-criminal who didn’t want his identity to be revealed. Initially, I intended on refusing to serve any customer as I was preparing to close but, this man’s presence was so terrifying that I just didn’t want to be dead. That night I was scared for my life. I knew that if I had refused to serve him he’d have killed me in a snap. I walked back to the kitchen counter where he couldn’t see me as I prepared his latte. Soon I was done with it and I put it on the tray as I walked out of the kitchen, I was horrified. That man wasn’t there! I knew he had not left the cafe because the door bell didn’t ring. I was now really terrified as his figure was scary and his aura was dangerous. I walked out to see no one outside the cafe. I wanted to believe that he left and act normal but, there was nothing normal about that night. As I prepared to close the cafe. I checked for the doors which were all closed and then I checked for the kitchen back door which was also closed. That’s when I started to think of that stranger again. If all the doors of the cafe were closed and the main door was the only exit which he clearly didn’t use to exit from as I never heard the bell, then could it be that he was still inside the cafe? This very thought had me shivering in fear. I was praying no such things happen yet, I decided to check the washrooms. I checked the male washroom and I was relived that there was nobody. I then decided to get into the women’s washroom to clean up. I was facing the mirror as I was washing my hands when I saw the door of the cupboard behind me ajar. I stopped dead in my tracks as I turned around to see a dead body fall out of the cupboard and touch my feet. I screamed at the touch of the cold dead body with the face beaten so bad that it was beyond recognition. I screamed out loud. The dead man was a midget and had gray hair. But before I could notice any more details I was knocked out. I fell unconscious and the next thing I knew, I woke the next morning in the ladies washroom but, the dead body was gone. I still dread the sight of the dead body that I saw that night. The cold touch and the blood had got on my nerves that I could barely act normal. Although, my predicament had just began as I opened the box that had a blood soaked handkerchief in it.” ----------------------------------------------The present----------------------------------- I had tears in my eyes and I was holding Diana as she hugged me real tight. I could still see the flashes of that night before my eyes playing out the very same scene over and over again. I was bickering in tears as I was now scared for my life. “Amy, I’ll put my life on line to protect”, Said Velibor as he hugged me and Diana.  I was not sure how to react but, the horror of that night was now known to my two best friends. I was sure that if something were to happen to me then they will know what could have happened.
