Chapter 6

After getting my stuff from Li-San, I immediately set up some cameras around the backyard of this property. The guards finally noticed me but they didn’t intervene on what I was doing. Well, maybe Lancelot has already told them about me. And I thank him for that. I got to finish my preparation quickly because he gave me enough freedom to move around his house. After securing the whole front and backyard, I went inside the house. It was a modern Western-style mansion. It has a simple exterior design with just white paint on the way yet the interior was filled with luxury items. Just one look is enough to tell the person looking at it that every piece they have here was personally chosen in exchange for a huge price. Every corner of this mansion tells me that the people living here are part of the higher society that I can never get into. "Who are you?" I turned my head to the one who spoke and I saw a woman wearing a maid’s uniform. I think she is one of the maids that was assigned to stay here. She was frowning while looking at me from head to toe. That raised my eyebrow. This woman is already giving me an attitude as if she was looking at me with disgust. “I was told to call for Lucile,” I said, trying my best not to show my annoyance to her. “Didn’t Lancelot say anything about me?” “Sir Lancelot know you?” She looked amused as if Lancelot couldn't be associated with someone like me. “Are you serious?” I rolled my eyes. “Are you that stupid?” Yeah, this woman has already reached the end of my patience. “Do you really think I would pass through the gate if Lancelot didn’t know me? And why would I ask Lucile if he didn’t say that to me? Do you even use your brain?” I don’t know the problem of this woman but I don’t like the way she looked at me and that made me annoyed more. That is why I can’t stop myself from giving her attitude since she is already doing the same to me even though I didn’t do anything to her. She was about to say something back but an elderly woman showed up, smiling at me. “You are already here, Sir Adze.” She came to me and held my hands. “I am Lucile and Lancelot told me to take care of you. You will be staying here for a while, right?” I took a deep breath to calm myself and smiled at her. “Nice to meet you, Lucile,” I said. “And yes, you’re right. I’ll be staying here for a while so please take care of me. And please, you can just call me Adze.” “Oh, great,” she said. “Anyway, have you eaten yet, Adze? I can prepare you some–” “No need to bother yourself, Lucile,” I said as I took my luggage. “Just please take me to the room where I will be sleeping. I still have a lot of things to take care of.” “Is that so?” She looked at the other woman and signaled her to leave. Then, she turned back to me. “Then, follow me. I already prepared your room.” I followed her while I looked around the house since I was still amused by what I was seeing right now. I can’t believe I get to stay in a luxury house like this. I grew up without anything but a couple of coins in my pocket. I don’t have family, money, and home. That is why I always dream of building my own mansion where I will be living with the person that I will marry. And to make that dream come true, I have been saving up to buy the house that I want but it is still far from reality. I can only hope that the money that I will get after this mission will be enough for that. “Lancelot told me the real reason why you are here,” Lucile said. “So, you are free to do what you are supposed to do. No one will intervene with your duty. You can also just tell us if you need something and we will get it for you.” “Really?” She nodded. “Why? Do you need something?” I nodded. “But don’t worry, I will take care of it,” I said. “But just to be sure, it is okay for me to do some renovation in some part of this house, right? It is necessary for securing the safety of Lancelot.” “Of course,” she answered. “Feel free to do what you want.” It is great that they are giving me freedom around the house. Though, I still can say that he is stupid to completely trust me. I may be protecting him now but everything I will do here might also be used to kill him soon. “Then, can I see the blueprint of this mansion?” I asked. “Also, I am planning to install cameras in some areas of the house.” “Lancelot has the blueprint since he designed the whole place so you can just ask him.” We stopped in front of a room and she opened its door. I winced when I saw the room. It was filled with sunflower design wallpaper. The bed also has yellow flowers, even the curtains. “Sorry for the design. It was the only available we have right now,” Lucile said. “This room belongs to Lancelot’s younger sister.” It is not that I hate the color yellow but I never imagine myself sleeping in this kind of room. Besides, it is not appropriate with my line of work so I will definitely not stay in this room. I turned to Lucile. “Do you have an attic here?” She frowned. “Yes, why?” “Are you using that place?” She shook his head. “It has a couple of old stuff but the maids always clean it,” she answered. “Do you want to stay there?” I immediately nodded. “Yes, please.” “Are you sure?” she asked. “I can find you another room.” “No,” I said. “The attic would be a perfect place for me to set up my things. It is a necessary location to guard the whole place so I choose to stay in that room.” She was hesitating to bring me in that room but after a while, she just sighed and nodded. “Okay. Then, follow me.”
