CHAPTER SIXTEEN Blue flames encircled the observatory. Chris stood in the midst of it all, the Scepter of Fire held in his right hand, surveying the bizarre scene before him. After blasting the wall of the observatory with the blue flames of the Scepter of Fire, he’d entered expecting to find Gali-whatshisname, Oliver, and a handful of his sniveling friends. Instead, he’d walked in to find a strange, alien-like creature looming over his brother. It seemed as if it had a hold over him and was pinning Oliver in some strange invisible bindings that made him unable to move. But even though he seemed frozen, Chris could still see the look of utter terror in Oliver’s eyes. He could see the way his pupils had honed in on the Scepter of Fire in his hands, its blue flames reflected in his irises.
