I Knew You Two Were Better Together

Sophie Logan and I walked in together holding hands to Mrs. McGee's class. She looked up over her glasses while she sat on her desk and smiled.  Logan sported a smile just like hers, which I won't lie! It made me smile inside as well. We sat on our desk spots and waited for the class to settle down so the class could commence. Before we began with the lesson, we were announced that our town's fair was coming up, it was really exciting. I love going with my friends. We always end up stuffing ourselves with so much food and, my favorite- funnel cakes with strawberry topping. When the school announcer finished, the teacher then gave a few lessons, making us write notes and take a small pop quiz. Towards the end, she called each pair to her desk and glanced over the drafted outline for our assignment.  The more she called couples out there, the more impatient I became. Up to now, the best outlines I presume were Emily & Chloe's because she smiled and said good job; and Russell's & Steven's. She raised an eyebrow and said she was impressed with the outcome of their outline.  Unfortunately, there were some she was disappointed with as well; saying she expected much more from the student and she believed in their capability to do better than what they had turned in. Towards the end, she called Logan and me. Logan had the outline ready on top of his desk. He grabbed it when it was our turn, and held his hand out for mine. My hand was shaking from the nerves and I softly took his, standing to my feet. He leaned down to my ear and whispered."Don't be nervous. She can smell your fear you know? She'll eat you alive." I burst out laughing. I knew he was just trying to ease my nerves. He chuckled and kissed my jawline. By the time we made our way to Mrs. McGee's desk, she gave us a small smile and glances between us and our hands. Logan gripped my hand tighter, making me feel sure that things would be ok. She raised her hand out, and Logan handed her the outline.  Silently, she reviews every detail written and sighs. After a while, she looks at both of us from above her glasses and hands them back to us. "You may take a seat. I need to talk to you both after class." My eyes widened and Logan, like myself, was speechless. Logan leaned overseeing I had covered my face in shame when we were already seated. He hugged me and whispered. "I think she smelled our fear. She's going to eat us alive after class." I giggled and placed my head down.  We both sat in silence while the two groups left went up and waited until the bell rang and students began to go out of the class. I pondered the whole time if we had made a mistake. Maybe she didn't like our outline, or it wasn't enough from what she expected from us? We had worked so hard in this, I can't understand, what did we do wrong? We waited until all the students were gone, and she gestured the upcoming students to wait outside while her other hand gestured us to come forward. Again, Logan grabbed his backpack and held my hand as we walked together to the front of her desk. "Let me make this clear to the both of you. My intuition to great students has never failed me for as long as I have been a teacher in this school. You two have by far surpassed my expectations. I am very pleased with the outcome of your work. I was right to place you two together as partners. Both of you managed to put your differences aside from what I see. And it shows in your work. You work so much better together, and I'm very happy to see this. Now, get out of my class before you're late for your next lesson. I expect your final paper to be even better than this one, and as long as continue to work like this, then I'm sure you will have a perfect score. Oh, and Logan?" She says sternly, a smile wide and proud on his face. "Yes ma'am?" He responds. "Make sure next time you hide gifts for Sophie in my room, you don't forget them." She says turning and grabbing a small heart-shaped box from behind her and giving it to me. "I believe he was supposed to give you this last week my darling."  I gulped, my eyes wide, and feeling a little embarrassed at this moment, to be honest. I opened it and inside it had a small necklace with a key-shaped pendant that was about three inches big. The top of the key was heart-shaped and in the back, it had engraved words. "You held the key to my heart since forever ago."  I covered my face and smiled turning to him and hugging him tightly. I couldn't help but kiss him in front of our teacher. His hands held me tight, forgetting where we were. "Alright, alright. Get out of my class, you're dispersing too much sweetness in front of me, it's nauseating, and I kind of want to hold my breakfast in." She said in a dry toned, a smile threatening to invade her lips. Logan smiled and cleared his throat. "Thanks teach." He said as we walked out.  "Yeah, yeah, get out." She raised her hand, her eyes going over her clipboard to review for the next lesson. He held his hand out for the necklace and placed it on me soon as we were out the door and moving to a side so the other students could walk inside. It fit perfectly; dangling down to the middle of my chest. I could feel so many eyes on us. A lot of girls passing by gasped and reacted saying it was so cute the way he was acting with me. I wasn't used to him treating me like this, it made me blush every time he did something like this. But I guess now, students were getting used to seeing him giving me a little something here and there. They would say he was struck by cupid. He was a detailed man. He loved to pamper me, even before I said yes to our relationship last night. I was regretting making him wait so long to say yes. It took me almost two and a half months for to say yes to him since technically we started school last week of August, and we were now in the second week of October.  Now, what was making me nervous was that I had until this Saturday, to make sure he had the best birthday ever. Question is, how to make sure he had the best damn birthday he ever had? Honestly!? I was so happy right now. I needed to sneak out while he practiced, this way I could meet with the guy who was making his records. In total, all the music Logan had placed on the USB he gave me a few weeks ago, took up three records, plus a bonus record with songs I added.  I had told him Ashley needed to grab some stuff. I sent a quick text to Ashley who was of course on board with the whole thing. I just hope he really likes my gift. I wanted both of us to share the same music that we have listened to together while our friendship developed, the same music we love listening to together when we're snuggled up in his bed or mine. ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
