“Lexie! Alexa!” A voice called out to me while I was in the garden.
Turning around, I roll my eyes as I see Prince running up to meet me. We were now at the reception so everyone was inside. Although I had bend inside for most of the night, I had come out wanting to get some fresh air.
“What do you want?” I asked folding my arms as I looked at him.
“Do we still need to be like this? We are now in-laws." Prince said making me burst out laughing.
“Cut the act and tell me what exactly you want. You didn't want me to marry your brother but now you want us to act as if we are friends? Sorry but I don't know how to pretend to others. Especially not for as long as you did." I said.
" I didn't mean to betray you. I know that you cannot forgive me for cheating on you. It's just that everything happened so suddenly. I had intended to forget about it but, Victoria was already pregnant. Mother brought her-”
“Why are you telling me all these things now? If you want me to forgive you, I won't. You don't deserve it. If you are regretting your decision to marry your wife then, I guess that's too bad. I am already married to your brother." I said walking past him.
" Is the baby mine?" Prince asked halting me in my steps.
"Have you gone mad?" I asked surprised by what he was saying.
“I know you said that the baby was King's but I can't help feel that you might have been lying to me. I need you to tell me the truth. If the baby is really mine, we can walk out something along wit-"
" Shut up. Just shut up. My baby's father is Kingston. Your brother. That makes you his uncle, unfortunately. Just because your wife lost her baby, you can't use my child as a substitute.” I said angrily glaring at him one more time before entering back into the house.
Walking over to meet Kingston, I join him and his friends as they play around and dance. With every move that he takes, King holds my hand tightly making sure to never let go.
“I'm tired." I said a few minutes later as I remove my reception dress.
The wedding reception had ended well which made me happy. All my friends attended so I had not felt so lonely. Still, I couldn't help but miss my mother. Taking Shawn out of his crib just as he is about to wake up, I carry him in my arms as I search for his bottle.
“Go and take a bath. I can feed him.” King said suddenly as he returned back all dressed up to sleep.
“ I can feed him first. It won't take long for me to-”
“I can also feed him. Go and take a bath so we can sleep." King insisted making me nod my head.
“ Fine ” I said heading to the bathroom.
Closing the door, I put on the shower standing in the middle cold. I had a small habit of taking cold baths in the night to help me sleep. Since I had given birth, I found it even harder to fall asleep when Shawn was always crying mostly at night.
“He is asleep now.” King whispered signaling to Shawn who was on his shoulder.
“Thank you. You can put him down ” I said trying to take Shawn but King stopped me.
“He might wake up. Better for us to stay like this ” King said.
" You need to sleep. How will you sleep if you re carrying him." I said trying to take Shawn away again.
“You can fall asleep first. I will put him down later.” King said moving around as he carried Shawn.
Heading to bed, I fall asleep immediately just as I wanted. However, I can't help but wake up in the middle of the night to check on Shawn. Watching King carry him so preciously in his arms sleeping stirs up something in me.
The next day, Kingston and I wake up early to get ready. While we are preparing ourselves, the nanny takes Shawn out. It was time for us to have breakfast at the dinning table with King's family.
“Please have a seat.” Kingston said as he helped me with my seat.
Sitting down at the table, I spot Prince staring at me which brings jealousy from his wife. Watching Kingston's grandmother finally arrive at the table, I can't help but become anxious. She was the head of the family right now. If she didn't like me once again like in the past, I would really be doomed.
“Now that all of you are married, I hope that you can all forget about the past and move on. Don't dwell on unnecessary things and don't cause unnecessary trouble in my house. Is that understood?” Kingston's grandmother said as she looked at all of us at the table.
“Understood." They said at the same time while I remained silent.
I didn't have any intention of starting a fight. As long as they all left me alone, I didn't even have to pay attention to them.
“Open your mouth." King said sweetly as he raised his spoon trying to feed me.
“Isn't this so sweet? The both of you are really a match made in heaven.” Prince said looking at us while the nanny brought our son down.
Taking him from the nanny's hand, I bring out his bottle to feed him. Of course I was doing it to spite Prince. The fact that he had left me for his pregnant mistress, I wanted him to regret it slowly as he looked at his brother's baby.
“ Look at him eating so well. He's like an angel. Grandmother, do you want to see your great grand child? There is no way you won't know who the father of the baby is." King said glaring at Prince.
Did he still believe that Prince was my baby's father? Opening my mouth, I try to say something when Prince's grandmother beats me to it.
“Let me see him.” She says taking my baby from King.
Looking at him, I see the look of surprise on her face as she stares at him. In her heart, she must have the same thought as King. She wasn't sure who among the brothers were my baby's father.
“Kingston is the father. We have already had a DNA test done." I said clarifying everything before it's too late.
“I see." She said slowly as she continues to play with him.
“ Why aren't you breastfeeding him? He is still so small. He needs his mother's milk. Or what? Don't you have enough milk to give him?” King's mother asked making me roll my eyes.
"It's because breastfeeding makes me tired. I still have to go to school." I said.
" So what? You're not the first one in our family to go to school. What if he doesn't grow up smart?” King's mother asked.
“Whether or not my baby grows up smart is none of your business. You won't be near him anyway.” I said sternly before standing up.
Walking over to King's grandmother, I take Shawn from her hands before leaving. Nothing had changed. Just like before, it was obvious that I wasn't welcome.
