Ashley's Point of View
My mouth parted in disbelief when I saw his face clearly. He didn't change at all, and he was the same person that I knew who let me escape from the torture island.
Bruno… He was the man who was with those tormentors. His eyes landed on mine, and he seemed not to believe I had been inside the Black Moon Pack all along.
My eyes were full of fear and anxiety. I felt I might lose my life because he had already found me again.
“W-Who are you?” I stammered in nervousness and tried to pull my hand away from the one that he was holding. He gasped again before he shook his head at me.
I noticed strange emotions coming into his eyes before he answered, “I'm the Chief of those guards. What's your name?”
I closed my eyes and tried to suppress what I was feeling. I felt the pain and torment once again. I couldn't believe he was the Chief of the guards, even though he was only an ordinary guard.
Bitterness came to my tongue. I already knew why he got promoted to his position. It was because they successfully killed me. My father seemed amazed and pleased that his only daughter got killed while she was away from them.
“Hey! What are you doing there? The Lycan King is looking for you!” The guard yelled, and rushed towards me. He eventually stopped, and bowed his head when he noticed that Bruno was with me. He stared at us with confusion before he took a deep breath.
“Is your life important to you? King Bryan is agitated that he didn't see you.” He gnashed his teeth before he held my wrist. I winced in pain when I felt how he tightened his grip.
“Hey! She's a woman! Why are you dragging her as if she's some sort of criminal?” Bruno's jaw was tense, and he glared at the guard, who was shaking in fear.
“I thought she was trying to escape. King Bryan warned me that he would be beheaded once I couldn't find her, Chief.”
“You already found her with me. I'm talking to her because she slipped. I thought she was a new servant here.” Bruno's gaze focused on mine. I felt relieved that he didn't dare to expose what he might think about my identity. He hardly breathed before he continued, “I thought she was my cousin. They look alike.”
“I will inform King Bryan that you helped his concubine today, Chief. He will be pleased to know about it.” The guard uttered it, making Bruno stunned for a little moment.
“Concubine…” Bruno whispered that word as if he truly hated it. His eyes were sharp, but he didn't say anything after that.
My mouth opened to explain everything, but I was surprised when a group of guards came towards us. I saw Bryan, who seemed agitated while he was looking at me. His way of looking was like I was the only one that he saw, and those guards weren't in our surroundings.
My feet stepped backward when he gave me a death glare. He didn’t mind that there were a lot of guards when he walked closer to me and pulled me closer to him. He violently gasped and turned his head to gaze at Bruno.
“Is there something wrong with my concubine? She will be one of my exclusive women who will conceive my child.” Bryan spoke with a warning in his tone.
Bruno lowered his head and kneeled on one of his feet. He took his sword and stabbed it into the floor. I was watching him. I didn’t even know that he could be the Chief of the guards since he was too loyal to my mother’s relatives. It was questionable on my part that he got the highest position.
“Your Highness, there’s nothing wrong with her. Like I mentioned, she slipped on the floor. I helped her. She feels scared of me; that's why she runs here. I was about to usher her to the servant room, for I thought she was one of the new recruit servants in our pack.” Bruno explained. He seemed severe and experienced when it came to lying.
Bryan nodded his head and didn’t mind asking for more information. He took my hand, and he dragged me with him. I was too stunned to speak, and I didn’t know where he was going. I was hoping that he wouldn’t let me go where Minerva was because there was a possibility that I might not be able to control myself anymore.
I was in such turmoil that I wouldn’t let anyone trigger me, especially since I was in my enemies' den. As I checked on Bryan, he looked outraged, making the other servants avoid looking at him. He was like a beast, ready to devour his enemies.
I was astounded when I saw that we were where the concubines were staying. His women were surprised that they saw their man, who was too mad at me. I saw a woman who had curly brown hair. She had a dress in her hands, and she seemed excited that Bryan was inside. She rushed towards us, making Bryan stop.
“King Bryan!” she greeted, and she bowed her head while she was lifting her dress. Her expression changed when she noticed that I was with Bryan and that he was holding my hand. She tried to suppress her resentment towards me, but she failed because I was already aware that she didn’t like me.
“You're blocking my way, Hannah.” Bryan was being snobbish, and he didn’t mind if he hurt someone’s feelings as long as he did what he liked. Hannah paused for a little moment, and she forced herself to smile at him even though she looked like she tasted a lemon because of how sour she looked.
She was beautiful. She was the most stunning woman in the Lycan King’s concubine. She had an innocent face but was too deceitful because I wasn’t too stupid not to know that she had the strength to fight with someone.
“It seems that my King is in a bad mood. I can help you with that. Did your mother inform you about the banquet?” She acted like she didn’t hear what Bryan had told me. She pursed her lips, and went closer to Bryan, who stepped back when she tried to touch his hand.
“Do you miss me? It’s been days since we didn’t miss each other. Your Majesty, it’s fine with me if you get another concubine because I’m the one that you will still marry in the end.” She plastered a smirk on her lips as if she were trying to slap those details in my face. Damn! Did she think that I was too head-over-heels for her man? I would rather die than be with a man who had the blood of my most hated woman.
“My parents will be here. They’re excited to talk about our wedding,” she added when Bryan was still quiet. It seemed Bryan kept playing a silent game with her.
I tried to pull my hand from his grasp, but he wouldn’t let me. My eyes expanded when I heard a snarl coming from Hannah. She didn’t like that her man was too focused to be with me.
“Who is she? Did you choose her to be your concubine?” Hannah didn’t want to stop pestering Bryan, and her eyes were sharp as she peeked at me. She was jealous of me; I was sure of that, but I didn’t care.
“Hannah,” Bryan called her to get her attention. His jaw clenched as he said, “As the King, I didn’t know that I needed to explain everything to you. Why are you acting like my wife if you’re one of my exclusive bed warmers who will scratch my balls whenever they're itching?”
I was speechless because of his blunt words. He didn’t mind if he might hurt someone, and I was sure that Hannah was hurt because of what he told her. Bryan humiliated her in front of me as if she didn’t have the right to interrogate him because he could do whatever he wanted and didn’t need her permission at all.
“I will call you once I need a w***e in my bed. I don’t need you tonight, and it’s part of the rules that I can choose a woman I like whenever I want to have s*x with someone. That’s the rule that you have signed, and I don’t care if you are a Lycan. It doesn't give you a privilege to act like a nagging mother in front of me, so if you don’t mind, get out of my sight.” he added.
Hannah’s eyes were full of pain, and she laughed before she shook her head. She stepped backward and turned around before she left us. I saw that she wiped her tears even though I was only staring at her back. I pitied her. I couldn’t believe that Bryan decided to break her heart without even thinking twice.
Bryan wasn’t affected; he pulled me to the last room. He opened the door, and we both entered the room. He seemed mad, but I was confused if it was because of me or maybe because of Hannah.
He pushed me into bed before he removed his clothes. I tried to stand up, but he didn’t let me. It looked like he was ready to vent his anger toward me. s**t.
“Now, let’s talk. You are not here to flirt with another man. Are you stupid? I’m the Lycan King, but you seemed interested in the Chief of my Guards.” He growled and started ripping my gown in anger.
