5. Blue Moon Pack

Grant My trip from Crimson Moon to Blue Moon was a twelve hour trip. Since I left the airport after dropping mom off at lunch time, I knew I would have to stop for the night. I grabbed lunch at a fast food place called Five Guys and drove until I was in Spokane, Washington after passing through Idaho. I found a fast food place called Sonic to grab dinner, then looked for a hotel. Hotels were easy to find so I got a room quickly. When I was in my room and had taken a shower, I texted Eric where I was and he added me to the Alpha council messaging group. I let everyone know that I was in Washington and would be at Blue Moon tomorrow, arriving there late in the morning or afternoon. Alpha Dean told me that he looked forward to seeing me. Eric went to Blue Moon last year in October. This was where he had discovered b**m and shared everything he had been learning about it with me. Did I ask for any of the information? No, but it was interesting. I don’t think I was the type to tie up my mate and f**k her senseless, but we would find out what I was into when I found her. After talking with Eric and the other Alphas, I texted Madison to let her know what I was up to and to see what she was doing. “Hey! How was your day?” I asked. “Same old thing. Training as usual, but today I got to go on patrol with Logan so it was a little less boring.” “Nothing good happened on patrol today?” “No. Nothing ever does.” “Lol fair.” “So what are you up to? I know today was your last day at Crimson Moon,” she sent me. “Yeah. It was good. Mom bought me a vehicle and I’m currently in Spokane, Washington in a hotel for the night.” “Is the hotel nice?” “Yeah. Would you like pictures?” “Please!” I found it funny and adorable that she was living vicariously through me. I took pictures of the room and bathroom. Purposely taking a picture of the sink with the mirror in the background and me shirtless. I wanted to see what would happen. After I sent the pictures, I waited for a response. When she responded, she said, “Damn! Nice sink. The room is nice too.” I laughed at her. I knew better than to think she liked the damn sink. “Lol, it is nice.” “So you are headed to Blue Moon since you're in Washington?” “Yeah. I should be there by lunch tomorrow.” “Alright. Let me know when you get there. I worry about you on the road.” “I’ll let you know when I leave each destination and when I arrive. Would that help?” “Yes!” We talked for a while longer before we both decided it was time to call it a night and went to sleep. ~ The next morning after breakfast and checking out of my room, I sent Madison a text letting her know I was leaving the hotel. She messaged me back telling me to be careful. I drove the last few hours and arrived at Blue Moon before lunchtime. I arrived at the gates and stopped for the guards. I rolled my window down and the guard looked at me before lightly bowing his head and motioning me onto the territory. I didn’t need to say a thing and that kind of worried me. Did they know me already? Did they mistake me for Eric or did I just give off the Alpha wolf vibe that they didn’t question it? I pushed the thoughts out of my mind and drove down the gravel road. I stopped in front of the packhouse that had navy blue banners flapping in the wind. The building was brown and cream-colored with balconies everywhere on the second, third and fourth stories. I got out of my vehicle and right away I could smell the salt water of the ocean. There were seagulls flying overhead making noise and looking for food. I had seen on the GPS that the pack was right on the coast and I couldn’t wait to see if I could let Wraith out to run on the beach. As I walked up to the porch, a man came out of the building towards me. I’m sure this was Alpha Dean with the way he carried himself. I had never met this Alpha before, so this was going to be very new to me. The man before me was close to my height with dark brown eyes and black hair, pale skin and light scruff on his face. He held his hand out to me with a genuine smile on his face, so I took it and shook his hand. “Welcome to Blue Moon, Grant. I’m Alpha Dean.” “It’s good to meet you.” “Come on in with your bags and I’ll have someone show you to your room before we sit and talk.” I nodded my head and grabbed one of my bags out of my SUV. I turned and followed him into the packhouse. There was a small Omega she-wolf waiting just inside the door. Dean handed me off to her and she showed me to my room on the second floor. After I put my bag down, she showed me to Dean’s office and left us. I stepped into his office and sat down on a chair in front of his desk. He closed his laptop and a she-wolf walked into the room with two teenage pups. I stood up immediately to greet them. I learned that the she-wolf was Luna Erin and their Alpha pups, Archie and Fern. Archie was about a year younger than me and Fern was close to the twins' ages.Once I had met everyone and we all took our seats, we started talking and I got to know the Alpha family here. “I remember when your uncle Sean came here years ago. He was on his journey like you are. So what are you trying to accomplish with your travels?” Dean asked. “I want to see how other packs operate, try to find a Beta along with other future pack members that want to join me. I guess while I’m at it I might as well look for my mate too,” I said the last part with a sigh. “Ah, reluctant to find your mate?” he asked me. “A little,” I answered. “That’s unusual for an Alpha, just saying,” Erin told me while watching me closely. “I know it is.” “Well, let's show you around and start introducing you to people,” Dean said. We all stood up and went into town. As soon as we entered the town area, I could see the beach and the ocean off in the distance. The town was amazing. All the buildings resembled the packhouse with the brown and cream coloring. Every building that had a second story had a balcony on it. The Scandinavian architecture was impeccable. I admired the different architecture and really looked at the buildings. What can I say? I’m my father’s son when it comes to architecture. We walked around as I took pictures of the buildings. This was amazing to see and I enjoyed it. When we finished walking around the village, Dean and his family led me into a restaurant for lunch. We sat at a table and a waitress came by to hand us menus and take our drink order. We looked over the food options and I noticed that mostly everything was seafood, which I didn’t mind. We didn’t get a lot of that back at Hunter’s Moon. When the waitress came back with our drinks, we ordered our food. I was excited about eating some crab that was freshly caught. This was a rare treat. While we waited for our food, I decided to ask Dean, “What do you do for work other than being the Alpha?” “I own two different companies. One is a fishing business where some of the pack Omegas go out and catch fish for the pack and to sell to the general public. Another is a boat manufacturing company where I employ both pack members and humans,” he told me. I nodded my head and said, “using the area you live in to support the pack.” “Yes.” “Smart,” I said while still nodding my head. “It is. Have you thought about what you will do once you settle?” he asked. “Not really. I think I need to find a place before I make that decision,” I said. “That makes sense.” Not long after that, food was placed in front of us and we ate lunch while I listened to Archie and Fern talk and pick on one another. When Fern came out of her shell, she acted like Josie and Archie was different from any of my siblings. When we had finished lunch and paid our bill, we left to go walk around a little more. We ran into the Beta couple, Anthony and his mate Mary. Their son Jett was about my age and I knew he was Archie’s Beta.. We kept walking around and I asked, “Are there any other Beta’s in the pack?” “One and he has a son,” Dean said. “That would be a good pick for a Beta or a Gamma position.” I looked at Archie and he had a smile on his face as he nodded his head. I’m guessing that was his plan and it was a smart one. We kept looking around the town and talking with people. I didn’t notice anyone that stuck out to me here and I didn’t think my mate was here. I did have more questions though. “How is the population of members here?” I asked. “It’s getting cramped,” Dean said. “From what I’ve heard at council meetings from the other Lunas, that’s the way it is for everyone,” Erin added. “Yeah, I guess it’s a good thing that I’m adding a pack and so will Jaxson.” “It is a good thing. It will put less of a strain on each pack even if you take in just ten to twenty members,” Dean said. We kept walking around talking with people until it was dinner time. We all went to the packhouse dining room. We took seats on benches together as the room started to fill up with members. The room started to get loud as teenagers filled the tables and some warriors sat at another table talking and laughing. I watched everyone and listened to a few conversations close by. My mate wasn't here. Thank Goddess. “Anything?” Dean asked. I just shook my head to answer him. “I should call you the reluctant Alpha,” Erin said teasingly. I smiled at her and said, “I would accept that.” She laughed lightly at me before dinner was placed down in front of us. On my plate was baked salmon over dirty rice and sauteed squash. Dinner was amazing and I loved the seafood. When dinner was over, I told everyone goodnight and let Dean know that I would train with him in the morning. I went up to my room and sent pictures of the pack town and the beach to Madison before getting in the shower. When I got out, I saw that she had messaged me back. “It’s beautiful there. I bet living on the beach is nice!” “I bet it is too. I know one perk that I like about this pack is all the seafood.” “Oh, you're so lucky!” I laughed at her and texted until I was tired. This was an everyday thing and I think I need to call her soon. I hadn’t heard her voice in a while. ~ The next morning, after breakfast, I went with Dean, Anthony and their sons out to the training field. As we started to set up, another guy walked up to us. He looked like he could be Anthony’s twin and come to find out he was. His name was Titus and he had brought his son with him to train. His son was the same age as Archie and they seemed close. I trained with Dean and Archie and both of them were dying by the time we were done. I officially hated training with Alpha’s that didn’t have a Lycan. They weren’t much of a match for me. “I’m guessing you’ve been to Crimson Moon already?” Dean asked as he drank water. “Yeah.” “How did you fare against Grayson and Curt?” “I took both of them on at once,” I said. “f**k,” Dean said with wide eyes. I gave him a guilty-looking grin. “Don’t be ashamed of that. Own it, Grant. You're strong and I could tell that we were nothing for you.” I nodded my head. Once we were done training, we went back to the packhouse to get cleaned up. I showered and changed before I went down to Dean’s office. Today I was learning about negotiation, something he had taught my uncle Sean and then taught Archie. He went over the five basic rules and I listened to him intently. This would be helpful anywhere I went and when I was trying to buy things. The price on everything can always be talked down. We kept talking over negotiations and he gave me a few exercises to do. I was catching on quickly and found that I liked looking at things this way. ~ Over the course of the week I was at Blue Moon, Dean taught me the art of negotiation. I enjoyed the seafood and letting Wraith out with Dean’s permission. He got to run on the beach and play in the salt water. Skoll grumbled about it. He thought lovely things were a waste of time. All he wanted to do was fight. I learned about the Scandinavian, Native American and Asian culture of the people that resided in this area. It was great to see things that were new to me but simple life for others. When I was ready to leave, I made sure to say goodbye to the Alpha and Beta families after thanking them for having me. I climbed into my vehicle and set my GPS for Red Moon. I was looking forward to seeing my uncle Mason, aunt Cala and my cousins. I texted Alpha Alex that I would see him in four and a half hours. I already knew this pack, so this was more of a social visit than anything. As I drove off of Blue Moon Territory, I texted Madison that I was on to Oregon to Red Moon Pack. “Alright. Be safe and have fun with your family there.” “I will. How do you feel about me calling you tonight?” I asked. “That would be great!” Her answer put a smile on my face as I drove down the highway to my next destination.
