My Bestfriend's Sister

Chapter 6

NIKKI'S POV:

Oh my gosh! This is the day that I’ve been waiting this whole week. I have a date with my boyfriend. This date had been postponed for so many times, and I’m glad that this is going to happen now.

I was humming my favorite song when I went down, but immediately stopped when I saw an unfamiliar face in our living room. And the nerve of this unknown person, why is she talking to Miguel and Chase as if they knew each other for so long? Who is she anyway?

I looked at her from head to toe, and I couldn’t deny that she’s pretty, that’s why she’s not welcome here. I should be the only one who’s pretty in this house. I raised my eyebrow and walked near the girl.

She smiled when she saw me, and I just stared at her. Why is she feeling close? I’m hating her already.

"Do I know you?" I asked her with my head b***h tone.

She just smiled even more as if amused with my question. So, is she mute or something? Doesn’t she know how to answer my question? I was getting cranky and was about to asked again, but my brother beat me to it.

“See? I was right. She won’t recognize you.” he said while smiling brightly to that annoying girl. Wow, I thought he’s in love with his nerdy best friend, then why is he looking at this girl as if she’s Faye.

I looked again to the girl, and my eyes widened when I realized who this unknown girl is. She’s just smiling at me.

"Oh, dear Lord! Faye, is that you?" I wasn’t able to see the finished product last night because I had to attend an emergency meeting. Jenny was the one who accompanied Faye to the salon I didn’t know that she’s THIS pretty.

She nodded while still smiling, and I couldn’t help but hug her.

“You’re so beautiful, Faye! I didn’t know that you had it in you!” I said and she chuckled. “You’re like a pauper who became a princess.” I continued.

“All thanks to you. I didn’t know that inside that b***h, there’s an angel who’s just waiting to spread her wings.” I know she’s joking, but I crossed my arms and raised my brows.

“Oh, really now? Do you think that you’ll see the ANGEL if it wasn’t for my brother?” I asked and again, I received a chuckle from her.

“I was just joking. But seriously, this is all because of you, and I want to thank you for everything.” she sincerely said, and I can’t help but smile.

“Anything for my future sister-in-law.” I said and winked at my brother, and it was cute when he blushed. He really likes this girl.

Faye was just smiling while looking at us.

“NIKKIIIII!” Miguel was trying to sound angry, but I can hear the embarrassment from his voice.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot that you two are just BESTFRIENDS!” I teased them and my brother’s blushing again. What a dork! He should tell Faye that he likes her, or else I’ll beat him to it. Can’t he see how pretty this girl is? If I were a boy---What the hell, Nikki? Why would you compare yourself to your brother? You’re straight, okay? Stop thinking about the nerdy girl!

"Babe, shall we go now?" oh right, Chase is here. I forgot about him because of this girl. He wrapped his arms around me, and I’m not sure why, but I automatically looked at Faye. She was smiling, but her eyes were sad.

“Where are you two going?” it was my brother.

"And why do you ask?” I raised my eyebrows at him, but he just rolled his eyes and looked at Chase.

“I wasn’t asking you, Nikki. I was asking Chase. I need to know since I’m your brother.” he said, and my boyfriend nodded.

“We’re going to a theme park since your sister’s being a baby again.” Chase said, and I huffed.

I looked at Faye again, and she’s also looking at me. Our eyes met, and there’s that feeling again. What the hell was that? I looked away since I didn’t like what I was feeling. I turned to Milo and Chase and tried to listen to their conversation.

"Babe!" my boyfriend poked me.

“Yes, babe?” I asked since I wasn’t sure what they were talking about. My mind’s busy thinking about that stupid feeling I’m feeling whenever I’m looking at Faye.

“They were asking if they can join us. Your brother told me that Faye also loves to go to theme parks.” He answered and I just nodded since my brother and his best friend were giving me hopeful looks.

“Who’s driving?” my brother asked Chase.

“I’ll drive since we’ll be using my car.” Chase answered.

I saw my brother approaching closer, and by the looks of it, I knew that he will asked me for a favor.

“Nikki, can I ask you favor?” See? I told you so. “Will it be okay if I’ll call shotgun since I’m not sure if I can talk to Faye while we travel. She’s so pretty, and I couldn’t help but fall deeper.” He whispered, and he knew that I couldn’t refuse him.

“I’ll just asked my boyfriend if it’s okay.” I said and whispered to Chase.

Milo was relieved when he saw my boyfriend nod and smile.

"Thank you" he told us.

I just shrugged, but I was panicking inside. Well yeah, I saved my brother from all the awkwardness, but I couldn’t do the same to myself. I was feeling that unfamiliar feeling again, and I can’t even look at Faye even if she’s just beside me.

But I’ll admit that I’m happy that she’s here with me. I don’t know why, but it just felt right.

Okay, Nikki, compose yourself. Don’t you dare forget that your boyfriend, and your brother who loves that girl so much is are inside the car with you.

“In fairness to you, Faye, you’re really pretty. I really like what Jenny had done to you. Isn’t that right, Milo?” I tried to tease my brother to ease the tension.

Of course, he blushed again. My brother’s so gay, ugh!

“Oh wow, and you can’t even answer that. You’re so in loveeee” I singsong.

“Well, you can’t blame him for being speechless, Babe. You’ve done a good job with Faye’s transformation.” Chase’ commented, though I didn’t feel that he’s flirting with her. He’s just complementing her. 

"That is true.” I nodded. And we both chuckled when we heard nothing from Milo or even Faye. Oh wow, they will just sit in silence the whole ride?

“Hey, you can talk, you know?” I pinched my brother’s nose since he’s just staring at Faye.

“That hurts, Nikki!” he complained and I couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Well, you two are just glancing at one another, but no one’s talking. If I knew that you’ll be both silent, I wouldn’t let you join us. You two are boring.” I joked, and looked at Faye.

She was looking at me, so I gave her a smile.

“Sorry Nikki, I’m just sleepy. I didn’t get enough sleep last night.” She explained, and I nodded. So, that’s why she’s not talking.

“Best, why don’t you sleep since this’ll be a 2-hour ride.” Milo said and looked at me. Uh-oh, favor alert, favor alert. “Nikki, will it be okay if she’ll sleep in your shoulder so she would be comfortable?” I knew it.

Yes, she’ll be comfortable, but what about me?

I knew I must resist the temptation and refuse my brother’s request. But I know that he’ll ask too many questions if I do that, so I’ve no choice but to comply.

Why is this happening to me? I just wanted an alone time with my boyfriend to stop this stupid thing I’m feeling for Faye, but this happened, UGH!

I looked at her again, and I saw that she’s asking permission if she can sleep at my shoulder. I nodded and smiled.

“Thank you.” She said and I felt her head on my shoulders, and wow, she’s hugging me.

I must think of something before I feel---

Lub-dub-lub-dub-lub-dub.

Stupid heart!

FAYE’S POV

I was trying to sleep while hugging Nikki, but my heart won’t let me. It’s been beating abnormally ever since I saw her this morning, and now, I’m too close to her and I can smell her perfume. I can’t focus and I’m not sure if she’ll know that my heart’s been beating so fast.

I can’t help but curse myself for feeling this way. Why would I feel something for Nikki? A girl, and worse, Milo’s sister. My best friend who I know I have feelings for. I just shook my head, and closed my eyes. I hope when I wake up, this feeling will go away.

I opened my eyes, when I felt that someone’s poking me, and to my horror, I felt my heart skipped a beat when I saw a smiling Nikki. I immediately got out of the car before I do anything stupid.

Nikki just gave me a questioning look, but she just shrugged and looked at the surroundings.

I smiled when I saw how excited and happy she is while Chase is getting our tickets.

“Do you know why Nikki’s that happy?” that’s when I looked away and turned to Milo.

I shook my head, but I’m curious.

“Because this theme park was our parent’s favorite hangout when they were still alive. They will always bring Nikki and I here, and we’d just enjoy ourselves until we get tired. Nikki once told me that every time she’s here, she feels that our parents are still here with us.” He said, and I can hear how sad he was.

I nodded and looked at Nikki again. I never thought that she has this side. I thought that she’s just a bully and the head b***h in charge, but this is something different. This is Nikki’s other side that she doesn’t show to anyone but Milo and Chase.

Yes, just with Chase. Her stupid boyfriend. I can also be with her when she feels sad and lonely. I can also cheer her up. Yes, I know that what I’m feeling is wrong, but deep in my heart, I want to know her better.  

“Let’s go to Anchor’s away!” Nikki excitedly yells, and we just followed her and let her enjoy this day. All three of us were smiling while looking at how excited she was. Ride after ride, after ride, and this girl isn’t tired yet?

“Next one is space shuttle, then we’ll have our dinner!” she said after our last ride.

I turned pale when I heard what she said. Uh-oh. I don’t like space shuttle. I might puke or worse, faint while on the ride.

"Uh, can I just stay here and watch you guys?” I said and all of them looked at me.

“Right. Nikki, let’s just let Faye wait for us here since she’s really scared try the Space Shuttle. She can just wait for our dinner.” Oh thank God for Milo.

Before I can thank my best friend, Nikki was already beside me and took my right hand.

“Please join us, Faye.” She said using her puppy eyes.

Milo chuckled while looking at his sister.

“Nikki, stop. Faye will never join us since she’s so scared of this ride.” He commented, and Nikki just gave me a sad smile.

“Okay fine.” I heard her say before she walked back to their line.

I took a deep breath before following them to the line.

Milo gave me a questioning look, while Nikki was smiling while looking at me. Yep, I definitely hate that smile. It can make me say yes even if I don’t want to.

“Best, are you coming with us?” my best friend asked.

I gave him a nervous nod and Nikki’s smile grew wider.

“We can ride together. I can do magic; I can let your fear disappear.” She whispered and gave me a wink. Ugh, no, Nikki. I’m more scared whenever you’re around. I’m scared that what I’m feeling is not just a simple crush.

“I-is it okay with Chase?” I tried not to stutter but obviously I failed.

She looked at her boyfriend and whispered something. I looked away because I felt a sting in my heart. I know that I don’t have any right to feel jealous, but I can’t help it.

“He said it’s fine.” She smiled again when I looked at her. “And oh look, we’re next. I’m excited!” she said while clapping.

My face went pale. Can I still backout? I’m not really sure if I can do this. I’m panicking inside, and was about to leave the line, when I felt a warm sensation when somebody touched my hand. And base on how my heart is beating fast right now, I’m sure it’s Nikki’s.

“Don’t worry, I’m here, Faye. I won’t let anything happen to you.” And there’s that wink again.

She must’ve felt that I was panicking, and the warmth of her hand made me feel safe.

And that moment, I knew that I can overcome my fear with her by my side.

“Thank you.” I sincerely said after our turn because true to her promise, she just held my hand the whole time we’re in Space Shuttle as if saying that I’m safe with her.

“You’re always welcome, Faye.” She said before walking back to her boyfriend.

Again, a sting of pain especially when I saw him kissed her.
