“Jared!” Alpha Chancelot said frowning, “where have you been?” I grabbed my mothers hands for steadiness.
“Jared,” I muttered under my breath and she asked if I knew him, I simply nodded unsensibly . I didn’t just know him, he had just insulted me that day and now what? I was to live with him?
“I am sorry Dad. Hey ma’am,” he greeted my Mum and when his gaze landed on me his eyes widened.
“You! You’re the weird girl from school… What is going on here Dad?” He asked.
“Jared, meet your new sister.” His Dad announced, much to our horror and surprise.
Living with Jared Chancelot was hell. It was a week in and my life was still a hullabaloo of irritating activities.
“Look. It’s a school day again, please don’t go around telling your dorky friends that you know me or that we share the same breathing space. Okay?” He said over the breakfast table.
“You wish. What’s so special about you that could make me want to brag about living with you” I responded. I was learning to cope in this new environment and having Jared around while I did was not helpful.
I was a lot jumpy around him and I still felt bad that he had caused me so much shame and disgrace just two weeks ago. I never brought it up, I always pretended like it didn’t happen but my wolf never failed to remind me.
“Like you weren’t writing me love notes last week. ‘I’m your secret admirer?’ We don’t forget so fast ma’am” Jared said coming from the coffee pot on the kitchen counter, he was looking at me with disgust and I swallowed the retort I had planned. He passed me and some of the coffee spilled on my skirt.
“Why did you do that?” I yelled at him.
“Am I no longer your secret admirer?” He asked me, his brown eyes narrowing to splints.
“Don’t say anything stupid” Rage said to me and I rolled my eyes.
“You’re talking to your stupid wolf.” He said knowingly “Tell her to leave mine alone, we’re not interested. Hopefully you don’t stick your face in your breakfast ” he said and stood up picking his bag.
“Thank you for your concern, stranger” I said, echoing his reply to my present two weeks ago.
“Remember. I don’t know you. I would rather be caught dead than share a tie with you.” He said and walked out of the house.
I grimaced. How had this unlucky fate found me? One day I was being humiliated for confessing my feelings to that mongrel, the next I was his stepsister! What was this? I thought to myself as I finished my breakfast
“At least you’re not as lonely. You have your new friend” Rage reminded me. That was a very big surprise because Rage was jealous of her.
“Yeah” I said, Sophie was a delight.
I picked up my bag and hurried to meet the chauffeur who now took me to and from school. I liked the new house, it was totally different from what I loved and was used to but this one could work.
I got to school and my new friend Sophie was waiting for me at the school door. I hurried to meet her.
“Again with this girl” Rage said, jealousy dripping from her and I ignored her.
“Let’s go to class Sophie.” I said. We were having Science class together.
I suddenly needed to use the bathroom so I allowed Sophie to precede me so she could keep a seat for me.
“It’s the both of us again.” Rage hummed dramatically and I held myself from laughing out loud
“You heard Jared. Stop flirting with his wolf.” I said to her, as I entered the bathroom.
“It’s not my fault that he smells so good. You humans can keep on fooling yourselves, I don’t wanna be involved.” Rage said in her defense.
I returned to the hall and I made a stop at my locker to pick up my school journal. I accidentally bumped into Eve when I turned.
“Oh.My. Goodness Sasquatch! Don’t you watch where you are going? Or are you as dumb as your flirting game?” She asked me, folding her hands, blocking me from passing.
“Let me get to my class.” I said, avoiding her eyes. My feral part always struggled to come out whenever she was present and I couldn’t always fight the urge to jump her and tear her to pieces.
“Let’s just rip her head off,” Rage said, annoyed.
“Hope you don’t have any foolish notions in your head about Jared. He doesn’t spare you a day’s thought. Your pathetic attempt to get his attention was bad and so would your exit be if you continue coming in my way” she threatened and I almost laughed.
I wondered if she was going to pee her pants if she found out I was staying in the same house as him.
“You can keep him. I have no use for him.” I said irritated.
“What did you just say?” Eve said, backing me up against the row of lockers. She was taller than me so she had the intimidating advantage over me. “Say one word and I would stuff you in the locker room and…..” she was caught off guard by the person I shall now call a hero.
“You girls. You shouldn’t be out in the hallway, please return to the classroom. Eve, let her be, she has done nothing to you.” Matt Arnold, the football team’s captain and hall monitor said, coming to my rescue and easing me of the stress called Eve.
I hurried to the class and immediately I sighted Sophie. I sat next to her breathing violently.
“What happened?” She whispered.
“An encounter with Eve.” I sighed.
“That bad?”she said sympathetically.
“That bad.”
The class began so did my torture. I sensed him before I saw him. His smell was wrong and seductive and it drove me to bite my hands madly. I was controlled by my urge but I managed to remain seated where I was.
“I don’t know what this is. But it’s much deeper than you think Mia.” Rage said, resignedly. She wanted so bad to come out and his scent was even more appealing to her.
Jared walked in and our eyes met, I watched as he strutted and sat directly beside me.
“The class starts at nine thirty Mr Chancelot.” The teacher said to him.
“Yea. I know that. I was occupied” Jared said, leaning forward and pulling at my hair. I released a whimper and held myself from snapping right there and then.
“Do that” the teacher said and went back to his teaching.
“Kindly stop pulling my hair jerk face!” I said finally turning to look at him.
“Why? It’s very nice to see you in pain.” He said smirking.
“I thought we swore of each other. Or can you not resist my charm” I asked him, trying reverse psychology.
“Eww no. I just want to give Eve more reasons to be mean to you.” He said and I sucked in a breath.
“He’s so mean.” Rage said and Jared leaned in again.
“ Tell your wolf to stop talking, I can hear her” he whispered in my ear.
“Can you please stop tormenting me?” I asked him.
“No I’m here go stay”
