CHAPTER2

My eyes became red, water surrounded my eyes and my hands were shaking. I wished I could retaliate but I couldn't raise my hands up else I would be in a bigger problem. I'm just an ordinary girl, there is no way I would win against Eve in school. I picked up my bag and ran out of the classroom. “Messy Mia!” Someone shouted. “Gosh. She is such a coward.” Another person said These Insultive things echoed from behind me as I ran out, tossing the shirt in the trash. “What have we done?” I said to rage. I sat cocooned on the toilet seat. I couldn’t go home but I could hide in here till it was time to. I was so embarrassed and angry. I was more scared of the safety of the other students than I was of actually facing them. Sometimes if I was really angry I had the tendency to snap out. “Don’t say anything, rage” I said when I sensed her about to talk. She didn’t say anything. “I am sorry it went that way. He is a jerk. A big one. Eve is an even bigger one.” She said “No Rage. You’re the bigger one. What gave us the confidence that he was going to accept us?” I asked her. “Delusion.” She teased and I laughed. A knock came on the door of the toilet. “Occupied!” I yelled. “No, I heard you giggle.” The voice said and I cleared my eyes and stood up, opening the door slightly. “What do you want?” I asked the short, red haired girl standing on the other side of the door. “You don’t need to be mean to me. I wasn’t the one that was mean to you.” She said to me and I had to admit her mouth didn’t match her face. “What do you want?” I asked resignedly. “To be your friend.” She said plainly and smiled wildly. “What?” I asked her, confused and surprised. “Didn’t you just see me get slapped by Eve Lince?” I asked to confirm once again. “Everybody saw it. I hate Eve. You hate Eve. I like you, let’s be friends.” She repeated again and I fought the urge to laugh. “Interesting,” Rage said. “Oh. I guess there’s nothing to lose.” I said to her and we both laughed. “Follow me, let me take you somewhere.” She said and I followed her. She led me down the hall and made a turn into the janitor's closet. It revealed an enclosed space with two chairs and a small table. It was surprisingly ventilated and smelled like cake. “Wow. What is this place?” I asked her, impressed and in love with it. “It’s my happy place. I hide out here when I’m avoiding people.” She said, proudly. “She seems nice.” Rage said approvingly. “What is your name, weird girl?” I asked her. “Sophie. Your name is Mia.” Sophie said. “How did you know that?” I asked, surprised and flattered. The disgrace and anger I was feeling had already left me. “I’ve been observing you for a while now.” She admitted. “Well nice to meet you, Sophie” I said as I settled down on the chair, feeling positive once again. “This is going to be a looong ride.” Rage mumbled and all my problems were forgotten for now. Going home was another torture to me. My Mother didn’t help matters. She was always up to something. “I wonder what she has done this time.” I said and Rage answered immediately. “She has probably made a swimming pool at the center of your home. She can do it.” “I guess she can. She is so excited to get married to the silly Alpha that she won’t even be using her brains.” I said sadly. My mother always allowed her feelings to control her. “What is that truck?” Rage asked me. I looked ahead and in front of my house sat a large truck. I hurried forward just in time to see my mum carry a lamp from the house and into the truck. I watched her drop it in the truck and say something to the driver. “Mum!” I called out to her. “Hey baby. You’re back.” She said cheerily. “What is going on here ma?” I asked her if panic was soaring through me. “Baby. There was a change of plans.” She said “What change of plans ?” I asked her, my voice raised slightly. “He has asked me to move in today. He thinks it’s best for my safety and yours” she said, coming closer to me. “So I’m just supposed to get in the car and go with you? Just like that!” I yelled. “Calm down Mia. Just follow through, no need to lose your cool.” Unlike her name, rage calmed me down and I went placid. “Baby. It’s for us.” She said and tried to hold me. “Mum please. Let’s just get this over with. Alpha Beckham would not like you delaying” I said and sat at the front of the truck with the driver. “Are you sure you won’t ride with me in the car?” She called out to me. “I'd rather ride on a chicken,” I said and Rage laughed. So did the driver, I shot him a warning glare as he fastened his seat belt. He shrugged and redirected his focus on the road. Slowly and quietly we left the neighborhood I had lived in for most of my life. We belonged to a pack in a different state and when we had moved to LA Mum had wanted to live normally. We had come here and ever since I had made friends they had left but this house had been permanent. It hurt me to leave The truck started and we drove in silence to the mansion. The driver played a little bit of Elvis and other old school jam. It worked well for my brain. I slept well and woke up an hour later when we had gotten to the mansion. It was beautiful and I was overwhelmed by the grandeur and beauty. It took a werewolf to recognize that it was a pack house. I hid my impression when my Mum came to meet me at the foot of the gate. “Impressive right?” She asked, nudging me. “I am not impressed.” I responded. “It’s okay. But you would love this place. It’s just like our old pack.” She said. “I don’t remember it mum. The house is the only home I have ever known.” I said sadly. “Home is not a place, it’s a feeling. Now be a good girl and keep up a good front.” She said, patting me. I grimaced but followed her into the house. It was even more beautiful and spacious inside. It was very wide and little maids walked up and about, I couldn’t believe a pack house existed in the middle of LA. “Miss Jensen. Alpha awaits you.” A man in a butler attire said to my mother and I looked on. “Come on Mia.” She urged me on and I followed closely behind her. “Something smells familiar.” Rage said hurriedly. She was almost panicking. “What? How?” I asked her. “It smells like trouble and danger but it’s oddly familiar.” She insisted. “Come on Mia. Be nice.” My Mum said. I watched as a man approached us. He was handsome and young looking, but I could tell he was in his early fifties. He was handsome and about six feet tall. “Hello baby.” My mother said and went to meet him, giving him a big hug. “Hello Reiya. Welcome to Pride pack house. You must be Mia.” He said, turning to me and smiled brightly. “Yes.” I said shortly. My stomach kicked at how much he looked like him. “He is close.” Rage said within me. “He’s your mate, he’s familiar and he’s close” “Come this way. Come and meet my son.” Alpha Beckham said and led us into a wide hall. “Wow this is really nice.” My mother said as she cozied against his hands. “Thank you. Where has he gone now? Jare!” Alpha called out and Rage almost came out. “I am here Dad.” A voice came from behind us. “How could I miss the welcoming of our new family.” The masculine voice said. I could hear the sarcasm in his tone and I could also sense that it was familiar. I turned back quietly and was shocked at the figure standing behind us, arms folded.
