Cold Intentions

*UNKNOWN POV* She is close. So close that it is sending me into a frenzy. I have been watching her from a distance since she received her wings. Watching her grow into the most gorgeous girl I have ever laid my eyes on. Sometimes I think she can sense I am close by, but without her wolf, she would never be able to catch my scent the way she needs to for detection. I was called away to Romania a few years ago, and was ordered to take my queen at any cost when she received her wolf. The Moroi have chosen Fae's as their destined partners for centuries. It is believed that with our powers and theirs combined, we become invincible. I have been the chosen Moroi Leader since birth. However, I can't take my rightful place until I have claimed my Fae Queen. "Master, she has shifted," my trusted spy, Marko, informed me. He is a wolf who is currently living in the wolf pack, Brave River. I stumbled upon him in the forest close to a year ago, and discovered he had issues with their pack alphas. These alphas just happen to be my bride's uncles. "Yes, I could feel it. Now, I just need to convince her to be mine," I told him. Getting close to her was going to be the tricky part. As a Moroi, I cannot stop in their pack territory without being invited. So, I have prepared a different way to get her to me. "Marko, call the rogue leader. I will have my feral newborns here shortly. As soon as the rogues arrive, we send them in to take what is mine," I instructed. He quickly left home to do what was instructed, and I picked up my phone to call Stefan, my brother. "Send the newborns to my house. Tonight is the night," I said, and disconnected the call. Twenty minutes later, 15 vampire newborns were at my door. I try not to get too personal with the newborns, because they are basically disposable. We train them by starving them until they enter a bloodlust frenzy. We then instruct them to do a deed in exchange for fresh blood. It is unpredictable, because at any time they could switch up and kill the targets, but they learn quickly that if they kill the target, they starve even longer, or face the ultimate death. "Come in, gentleman. As soon as we receive the call that the rogues are ready, we will depart. Please be warned, that if anything happens to my bride, in any way, it will be your instant demise. Not as much as a scratch will come to her. Do I make myself clear?" I asked. They all agreed to let no harm come to her, and we finished preparing for the task at hand. Marko finally called to tell me the rogues were close to the Brave River borders, and gave me their exact location. They would wait for me to arrive before going in, and once we were there, would be awaiting my instructions, just like my newborns. I gave my crew the location, and we left to join the rogues. Hopefully, by tonight, I will have my bride and be heading back to Romania for good. I pulled down the dirt lane that led to the meeting point with the rogues, and I was surprised to see someone from my past. I knew she wasn't there to fight, but to be nosey. After I parked the van, I sat there watching her. She's a fool for even being near this pack. If her son and daughter catch her, they will kill her on the spot. Gladys and I have history. She actually saved me from a den of werebears many years back, and I will be forever grateful to her for that. However, I had to separate myself from her when she met the current leader of the rogues. Although we work well together, he and I aren't exactly each other's biggest fans. "Gladys, what brings you out here? You can't fight and will only be in our way," I asked her coldly. She glared at me from the corner of her eye, and told me to not worry about what she does. "I'm not yours anymore, Roman. What I choose to do with my time is none of your business," she sneered. I laughed out loud at her childishness, and shook my head. I was an i***t to even think I could love her. She thought she was more than just someone to keep my bed warm, but in reality, that's all she was at the time. "Don't flatter yourself, woman. You are nothing more than s**t on the bottom of my shoe. You need to leave, because I won't be responsible for what I do to you if you don't," I spat back at her. Her new man, Herman, the leader of the rogues, raised his voice at us both, and within seconds I had him pinned up by his throat against a tree. "You both have forgotten who the f**k I am. I don't need either of you to carry out this mission. I will kill you both and take over your pitiful pack without blinking an eye. Instruct your b***h to leave, or I will do just that," I demanded. I released him and he fell to the ground. I didn't want to get my temper to flare up, but this b***h left me no choice. He turned to his woman, and instructed her to leave. After putting up a small fight, she reluctantly left to sit in his car. I called everyone to stand before me, and I gave them the strictest of instructions about their mission. "I don't care who you have to kill to get to her, but no one is going to harm Grace. Just as I have told my newborns, if she comes to me with as much as a scratch on her, I will kill you where you stand without blinking an eye. Be careful of her grandmother, Mel. She is a very powerful Fae witch, as is her cousin Luke. Avoid them at all costs if you can," I told them before sending them on their way. I found an old log and sat on it. Now all I could do was wait. It was times like these that I wished this pack also held the farmers market and butchery. They are open to the public, and I wouldn't need an alpha's invitation to step on their land. Unfortunately, they are strictly a schooling and training pack. Because of this, I was probably sending everyone involved on my side into a slaughter. Brave River was the home of the most fierce warriors in the world. Their skills were beyond any other wolves I had ever encountered. Hopefully, with the addition of the newborns, my people will be successful. I still have my doubts, but won't give up hope. Nearly an hour had passed by, and I didn't hear anything in the form of fighting anymore. I started to get concerned, and walked as close to the border as I could to see if I could see something. It was just as I had feared. They failed. I watched as the wolves of Brave River piled the rogue bodies into a pile, and then they threw all 20 of my newborns on top of the rogues. I heard one of their alphas yell towards the trees, and I knew they were aware I was present. "You are not welcome here! We have nothing to offer you, and that includes our niece. Take your bloodsucking ass back to wherever it is you have been hiding, or you will meet the same fate as your people," he bellowed. I had no choice but to retreat in defeat this time, but I will never give up on making Grace mine.
