Jamie’s P.O.V.
After the fight was over, I rushed over towards my room, as fast as I could. I grabbed my phone and started typing like a mad man.
-Hey little one, as promised, I am perfectly safe.- And I laughed at myself, once I pressed ‘send’. Letting the truth of my own words sink into my mind.
We did it!
We won!
We f*****g won!
And just a few seconds later, a ping came from my phone, giving me the idea that Lana had her phone glued to her hand at the moment of my text.
-That is great news! So, I hope I’ll be seeing you soon…-
-I promise, you will see me again, very soon!-
I wanted to type more, but was surprised, as I heard more growls and snarls, which was odd, since the fight was completely over. I walked into the hallway, hearing that the sounds came from Ash’s own room, and I started to run as I dropped my phone, knowing that Addie and Lottie were inside that very room. I ran inside, seeing two dead wolves, while Luke was panting and Ash was looking fifty shades of s**t. He walked over towards Addie and Lottie, who were stuck inside his office, but right before he made it, his eyes rolled back, and his body smacked down to the ground.
SHIT
He lost too much blood, too fast for his body to heal!
Addie rushed out of the office, as I basically threw myself at Ash, wanting to help him, without having a clue what I could do to help him.
Give me war
and I will fight
Give me a wounded best friend
and I am worth s**t…
“What do we do?” Addie begged me, as she pressed her hands on Ash’s wound in his neck and shoulder, and I felt so f*****g helpless at the moment.
“I don’t know.” I mumbled back at her,
“Should I run down to the nearest pack?” I asked her, knowing that probably 9 out of 10 packs would kill me for even coming to their borders. The Spike pack was still a bad pack towards the outside world. But if I had the smallest chance to save my best friend and my Alpha, I would do it without hesitation. But Addie just stood up, as she seemed to be thinking of something else. She ran back inside the office and as I looked back down at my Alpha and best friend, I heard Addie talking to someone on the phone, even while she sounded miles and miles away from me.
And within minutes, real help came for us. Help in the form of Addie’s former Alpha, Alpha Aiden of the Hyle pack. The pack where Addie used to live, before she had met Ash. Alpha Aiden’s mate and Luna, was a nurse, who was helping Ash and all the other wounded wolves to patch them back up so their own bodies could heal for themselves. While she was working, I told Alpha Aiden everything that had happened inside the Spike pack. How Alpha Michael was a monster, and how we had defeated him tonight. That Ash was the Alpha now, and that our plan was to make this pack a better place, a nice place. And Alpha Aiden seemed pleased by my words. Thank Goddess. Once I had told him everything I knew, he placed himself with Addie, while Ash was still knocked out from his wounds while his wolf power was healing him back up again. And while I really wanted to get in my truck and drive to Lana, I knew I still had one small thing to do before that. I needed to find that b***h that had hurt my other best friend, and now had tried to kill another one. Francesca would better run when she saw me coming, because I was about to whip her ass when I would find her.
Unfortunately for her, I did find her. And she wasn’t even hiding that hard. The dumb b***h was up in her room, and even had the nerve to bark orders at me, once I had gotten myself inside of her room.
“Oh good, Jamie, is that stupid cunt Addie already killed? Or do I need to do it myself?” I had to swallow hard. I was a man who would never lay a hand on a woman. But f**k, Francesca was making my hands itch by talking this way about my true Luna. But I was surprised, as I had seen how Lottie had stepped inside the room as she had sneaked up behind me, and had punched Francesca right in the nose, making me proud as hell over my little sis. I even heard Francesca’s nose break under Lottie’s firm fist, and I grinned wide at her, as she started to wave her hand, trying to wave the pain away.
“Damn Lottie, who knew you were such a little ass-kicker?” I asked her with a grin, seeing how she grinned right back at me.
“That b***h had it coming for years. First hurting Luke, and now ordering to get Addie killed. She can be happy that I didn’t break her other limbs.” Lottie shrugged, before she walked out and a few warriors came in, as they helped me to grab Francesca and get her ass locked inside the cells down below the pack house. Along with every last enemy wolf, who did not want to be under Alpha Ash’s rule. Alpha Ash could decide what to do with them later. And after that, I found myself back in Ash’s place, waiting for my best friend and Alpha, to finally wake up, and hopefully be alright along with it. I would never be able to forgive myself if something would have happened to him right now, now that we finally had what we had dreamed about for so long. I knew him, and I knew he had picked up the pace and sped up this whole process of taking over the pack, because he wanted me to be with my true mate. He wanted to speed things up, so I could get Lana here. And I would never forget that. I would be in his debt, until the day I would die.
Luke and I were all hyped on coffee, not sleeping all night, but keeping watch on our Alpha. And the very next morning, as some sort of miracle, the little shithead just stepped out of his bedroom, looking as if he had just taken a shower and was absolutely fine. And I couldn’t help but laugh, seeing him, and that he was absolutely fine.
“Thank Goddess, you’re OK.” I smiled, feeling how a huge weight dropped off of my shoulders.
“How are you feeling, Alpha?” Luke started to ask, while yawning and nodding his head. Trying his best to stay awake along with me.
“I’m perfectly fine.” Ash answered, smiling at the both of us.
“What happened here after I… blacked out?” he asked, sitting himself down, as I pushed an empty cup his way, and a thermos filled with fresh coffee, following right after that.
“The dead who were fighting against us are already being taken care of. Their bodies were burned towards the southern borders. Along with the body of your father.” Luke nodded, holding onto his own cup with both of his hands.
“We thought about burying our warriors this afternoon. Give them the respect and honor that they deserve.” Ash nodded, probably thinking about the loss of our pack members. We all knew the risk, stepping into this fight. But now, it just got really real.
“How many did we lose?” Ash asked.
“6” Luke answered immediately.
“6 too much”, Ash sighed. And we stayed quiet for a while after that, letting the events of last night sink in once again. Before Ash turned his head, to look at me.
“Why aren’t you in a car right now? I figured you would be on your way to bring your mate in, once we would have won.” But I just smiled, feeling my heart drop inside of my chest.
“I still had a little job to do.” And Ash frowned, as he listened to me.
“And what was that?” He asked me.
“I needed to find that Francesca bitch.” I shrugged, before I leaned in and took some more coffee. Knowing that I would need it, or my head would smack down against the table within five seconds.
“She threatened our Luna, and sent wolves out to kill her, ain’t nobody messing with my Luna.” I spoke as I looked over at Addie, who had just joined us after walking out of her bedroom. Giving her a playful wink at the end.
“Did you find her?” Addie asked as she mingled into the conversation, sending me a smile of gratitude. So, I just grinned back at her.
“ Well, Luna, do you underestimate your own Beta? Of course, I found her. The b***h was just plain stupid, hiding inside her own room. She even had the balls to bark orders at us, thinking Michael had won the fight. You should have seen the look on her dumb face, once she found out it was the exact opposite.” Addie shook her head in disbelief. While Ash seemed to turn livid, thinking back at that dumb b***h.
“Where is she?” He growled, letting his wolf out just a bit.
“In the cells, of course. Along with some other warriors from your father. We weren’t sure what we needed to do with them”, I told him.
“There are twenty-three other wolves who claimed they didn’t know what was going on until last night, and that they want to show their loyalty to you now. I told them to wait, until you would be able to talk to them in person, so you could decide for yourself if they could become pack members or not. Some ran for the hills after the fight broke loose and didn’t come back after that. I guess they went back to their rogue ways.” Luke shrugged, as Addie turned to look at our new Alpha as well.
“I also promised Alpha Aiden you would give him a call. Once you were awake, he wanted to discuss becoming allies with us.” She ended her sentence with a smile, making his eyebrows rise as I looked at her.
Oh shit
Little Luna has the big bad Alpha all wrapped around her finger.
But s**t… allies are just what we need!
The allies will make us stronger.
“ OK”, Ash nodded, emptying his cup as he placed it back down on the table.
“So, I guess today will be a long day.” he concluded, placing a kiss on Addie’s hand as he lifted it up.
“With your permission, Alpha, I would like to go to Lana, after we have buried our pack members.” I swallowed and looked over at Ash, who was looking at me, as if I was some sort of exotic animal that he had never seen before in his life.
“Of course you fool, you should have already been with her, go!” He laughed at me, as I let out a sigh of relief. Promising them all, that I would be back as soon as I possibly could. But first things first, I needed to calm my wolf and my racing heart. I needed to go and do what I had needed to do all those months ago.
I needed to go and get my mate, and finally take her home. So as fast as I could, I ran back into my room. I grabbed a backpack and a few clothes that I threw inside, my toothbrush and some cash. I didn’t know how long it would take me to get Lana to agree with me, coming to live here. And I still needed to tell her about my true identity. In some ways, it felt like mission impossible right now. But I needed to find a way to make this work. I would make this work. And we would be together. So, I grabbed my backpack and walked down, as I said my goodbyes to Lottie, who stuffed some cookies and drinks in my arms, before I walked out towards my truck and threw everything inside. And once the funerals were done and we had said our goodbyes to our soldiers who we had lost during last night’s battle, I almost skipped inside my truck, as I turned it on, turned it around, and started to drive off, not able to get rid of the huge grin on my face. Knowing that now, our story could finally begin! Lana and I could finally be together!
