"Master!..... are you alright?"
"I am ok Zararloch. I see you as dependable as ever."
When the explosion happened, Zararloch had quickly put up a defensive barrier around Arloch and himself. He did not need to, his master could easily defend such an explosion. It could have only hurt her if it was a direct hit. Zararloch did it out of habit and the fact that he would never let anything happen to his master.
"Is it the Dragons? Have they come for the boy?"
"No, it is my mistake. The explosion came from the laboratory. If it wasn't for the protective runes, this place would have caved in."
"What could have coursed such an explosion? is it because you analyzing the oil?"
"Yes and no."
Arloch said while sighing.
"When we met the boy, I was working on an experiment, I have just been fascinated and focused on the boy's oil and forgotten about it."
"I see."
Zararloch will later try and forget what his master had told him. To him, his master was perfect in every way and would never make such a mistake. He rather rot the part of the brain that holds that information.
"Come forth Tenebris, Fusobacter, Violentiam, Sanguis and Cumfureres."
Arloch called out.
Five undead, each very different from the other and almost as powerful as Zararloch raised up from the ground, each kneeling in front of their master except for Fusobacter who had no form and looked like a brownish-yellow mist.
"Go scout out the area, see if the formation hasn't been broken and the Trial Forest hasn't matched me with anything."
"Yes, master."
They all said in unison and vanished.
"Zararloch, take out the boy and stay with him above. The runes might not last and we will need to replace them. Cast a defensive spell around him just in case something comes."
"Yes, my liege."
Zararloch disappeared from the laboratory and only Arloch was left. She stood there looking at her ruined laboratory and then looked at a small tube with a stopper and inside it an oily liquid.
"I have to get more."
She said.
Sheyken had woken up as soon as he heard the explosion and violent vibrations. Seeing the flicking runes, he had no time to admire them and quickly put on his boots. He had taken to sleeping with his clothes on with the basis of having less time to get dressed if something like this happened if he slept with them on. He finished putting his boots on, took out his training short sword, and went out of his cell. Going at a steady pace to the training room, it was the first time he was as calm as the day he faced the demon. He went to the training room because he did not want to get cornered if he had to fight, it was the place he knew the most except for his cell and it was the only room which he knew that had a passageway to the outside. He did not know it yet, but he had already applied his aura around his body and sword.
Reaching the training room at a record pace for someone who was walking at a steady one. He saw Zararloch in the middle of the room nodding his head.
"Impressive, if you keep that up, I might really turn you into an Undead and make you join our ranks. You just too good for your age or we might have spent too much time isolated from the outside world and every child is like you. Follow me."
'Isn't he being too chatty for this situation?'
Sheyken thought while following him. Outside, the Moon was already up in the sky shining it's purple light open the valley. Choosing a high ground further away from the valley, he could see what he could only call a spell formation coming in and out of existence from time to time.
Arloch was also outside for the first time in centuries. The night's wind making her look like death looking over the valley.
"Master, the eastern part of the formation has a c***k in it. A large rock fell, making it unsteady. We have destroyed it but it will take 10 minutes to restore the runes and spells as Sanguis is fixing it. The rest has been untouched."
Violentiam reported.
It was an above 4 meters tall, 5-meter body length male-looking Centaur with a Lion's head. It had an exoskeleton that covered its body except for its head and chest, looking like a muscular bodybuilder everywhere you looked at it. Its mane was like black smoke that kept on disappearing to nowhere and it carried a black war axe with two blades that kept dripping blood from the eye that was in the middle of the axe that was always crying blood.
"An elder Neritetus is already on its way master. It will be here in five minutes."
Tenebris said raising from Violentiam's shadow while kneeling. She took the form of a female human with a female voice but was black as the word itself. In her original form, she looks like black jelly and can take any form she wants.
"Should we stall it while the formation is being fixed?"
Violentiam asked.
"No, even if all of you go, you will get wiped out. I will go, I need to stretch my bones anyway."
Arloch said while taken three rings from her storage space, putting them on and disappearing afterward.
Tenebris and Violentiam both smiled at the same time, Tenebris's looking sinister and Violentiam's looking vicious.
'Isn't that the snail-like monster I saw while on my way here'
Sheyken thought.
He was looking at a distance not so far away from where they were and a white snail-like creature was melting its way through to the valley's direction. He never wanted to see that creature ever again, but fate was so cruel. He would make sure to curse the Guardian of fate later, as for now, his heart was pumping at an unhealthy pace, no more as calm as it was minutes ago. This was coursed by the Lich that had appeared in front of the snail to intercept it. He was just too excited to see a fight he never thought he would see so early and weak as he currently was.
When Arloch appeared in front of the Neritetus, she had already started casting her spell 'THE GOAL OF EVERYTHING IS NOTHING'.
On her back, 30 centimeters away from her shoulders, above her head in a downward arching position where five burning mana spheres. One solid black like Tenebris, another smoking black like Violentiam's mane, another a brownish-yellow mist like Fusobacter, one bloody red with red mist around it like Sanguis eyes, and the last one translucent and flickering in and out of existence like Cumfureres. This was her second powerful spell only second to when you see a sixth sphere. This was an enemy that could destroy her if she underestimated it.
When the Neritetus saw her, it stopped, only to see her create some distance between it and her. The Neritetus was a huge white snail-like creature with its shell also white but it could move it wherever it wanted, even leave it anywhere within 10 kilometers and it could call it to its side anytime. When it saw Arloch flying away and creating distance from it, it vomited out a white substance that started melting the ground right away. Vomiting it around their presumed battlefield, an insane amount of it was produced.
By that point, the battlefield was filled with it and melting away. The Solid black mana sphere had moved from Arloch's back and on to her left hand. It had looked like a shooting star when it moved from her back to her hand, the move taking 3 seconds in total. It would be another 30 seconds for another one to do the same.
Not wanting the white substance to reach the valley, she stopped. With her right hand she attacked using an ice spell. A large ice shard short out from next to her and in seconds landed where the Neritetus was. The Neritetus had moved so fast it looked like it teleported and appeared underneath Arloch. It was almost faster than her detection spell. Looking up and launching an acid wind attack that was faster than its movement earlier, Arloch only managed to get away by using a blink skill. A piece of her robe falling down, she did not attack further. She knew this creature was resistant to almost all her attacks. The only way to win was by buying time.
She also summarized that this creature can move faster than her perception. If she wasn't careful, she would get hit. It wasn't a secret that the Neritetus could move extremely fast on the liquid it produces. The only difference being how fast the one you were facing would be. It seemed Arloch wasn't that lucky. Looking at the Ice that had melted within seconds of touching the liquid, the only card she could play was defense.
A game of cat and mouse began. All you could see were after images of both of them and attacks lighting the sky like white laser beams. Arloch was trying to get away to the edges of the white liquid but by this time it seemed the amount had multiplied the area it was covering and the Neritetus was getting faster and faster, keeping her at the center of it with its attacks. Only two spheres were left on her back by that point, but no defense spells were working against its attacks. Taking a direct hit for the first time, one of her rings disintegrated, showing that it had done its job. Angered for losing one of her precious items, she wanted to lend a hit of her own.
"Come forth ONINE."
She said dogging another attack. At this point, only one sphere was left. The area shook and the ground split. A Ten-foot giant all red with white tusks and flaring black hair appeared. Its hands that it used to get off the ground had already started melting away together with its feet. Not wanting to waste time, it lifted one of its feet like a Sumo would and then struck the ground. With everything shaking and going up in the air, the Neritetus was among them.
Pointing its mouth to Onine the giant, it fired immediately. The giant dodged but Its whole arm and part of its shoulder and chest were missing. Jumping off the ground, it was like a missile as it reached the sky above its target in less than a second and said its last words, "SENGCTOM MISAROM!"
With Onine the giant melting away in the air, he turned into a large fist of something far larger and powerful. Only seeing Its fist, it came down like a hammer on the Neritetus faster than lightning itself. A thunderous sound sounding out 5 seconds after. The Neritetus was splatted in a larger crater with white pieces of shell everywhere.
As hard to believe as it was, five seconds later, dozens of 30-centimeters smaller Neritetus with smaller shells on their back were already at Arloch's position and opening their mouth to fire only to stop at the last second.
The fifth sphere had just now finished its shooting star routine and had mixed with the others creating sinister energy that Zararloch had to shield Sheyken from while using his most formidable defensive spells and they were miles away from the fight at this point, but could still see it. The wind was moving violently for some seconds and then it stopped. With sound gone from the area, Arloch descended from the air only to stop a meter away from the ground. She did not want to melt her bones yet. With so many smaller Neritetus surrounding her, still with mouths opened and glowing, the scene looked so unnatural. With the sinister sphere still in hand, after five seconds the wind started moving violently again. It was clear that something unnatural was happening.
The Neritetus closed their mouths and then started coming together, forming a single large one. Looking at Arloch like It lost its prey, it then turned around and moved in the opposite direction, still melting away everything it touched.
The sphere in Arloch's hand disappeared and things returned to normal except for the giant crater and still melting ground. She then disappeared and returned back to the cave. She had used up too much mana for the spell. Things ended well for her as she did not want to relocate from the valley. Using that spell would have destroyed everything on-site for who knows how many miles. She had only used it once and never saw its distractive power as she herself was destroyed by it. It was almost like the monster was her natural enemy.
Sheyken's heart had skipped so many beats while watching that fight, you could count on both hands how many times he almost had heart attacks. This fight was out of the scope he could comprehend yet.
'Real life is just so different than anime. Apophis, you want me to be able to face things like that one day? That thing seemed to be immortal. You should be ashamed to call yourself a father. You should have asked me to become a doctor instead.'
"Let us go in. The mana around here can still kill you"
Zararloch said.
Sheyken just followed him still not knowing what to think.
On the other side of the valley, Tenebris appeared from the back of Violentiam's shadow again. Sneaking in and giving him a kick on his behind. Violentiam cried out like a horse being whipped, failing dismally at the imitation.
"hahaha. Vio.... You still can't get it right."
"You the one not kicking harder Tenebris. I will never be a horse if you guys keep on treating me like a lion."
"And here we thought Zara was the crazy one, busy trying to lose his virginity with the master. Tell me Vio....how is that supposed to work?
"hahahahaha.... Stop it Tenebris... we here for work.... hahahaha."
"And he goes everywhere half-naked trying to make her notice his ten pack.... Tell me Vio.... How is that supposed to work?
"hahahahaha....hahahaha"
Violentiam was now rolling on the ground in laughter.
