Benevolent woods. Part 2

1413 Words
Sheyken was standing with a victorious pose feeling nothing else other than satisfaction. With green blood dripping all over his face, he looked up at the blue sky and screamed out like a gladiator after a victory in the coliseum. A month of being alone and not watching his movies had made him act out a scene out of one of his favorites. It was a tough fight. Under his foot was a large carnivorous plant's head. The plant had been almost twice as big as he was. With a 200-meter radius around him affected by the spell, he had only had to move a couple of meters to find his target. The only problem was that it was bigger than the last time he saw it. During the month he was training, he also finished his reconnaissance. He then concluded after repeated checks that with his safe zone as the center, he was surrounded all around by 17 carnivorous plants except for the west side that had a couple of trees, plus the one that wanted to swallow him whole. He made a note never to go there except to check the situation, just in case things changed. It was a magical world after all. A five-year-old boy from earth or this world could not hope to defeat such a thing. Maybe if he had mana it would be a different story. He had noticed that the plants were getting bigger each week. Not knowing why or how since they were not eating anything, he left them alone since the was nothing he could do about it at the time. The last seven days he had focused on his training, preparing to dish out some vengeance, only to find out that all of them had grown to such an extent. Itching to test out his skills, he singled one out and attacked. "Well, the bigger they are, the harder they fall" He said, heading straight for a plant. Dashing in, he struck it on its neck like vine, only wounding it a little. Its vines were thick and if he wanted to cut off its head, he had to keep slicing it on the same spot three or four times. The plant went to a frenzy, trying to trash him with its vines. It looks like it developed them while growing, not having to use its roots anymore. They were faster and thicker. He could not chop them off, but would only be able to parry them which would sometimes making him lose his ground. Remembering the arse beating he got from these plants, he put all his efforts on speed, sacrificing his strength, he managed to lend the second hit but it was shallow. He did not let that deter him and after several more hits, he managed to finally chop off its head. After resting for a bit and full of satisfaction, he went on to the next one. Defeating it was easier than the first, but all that battling was tiring. He went back to his safe zone and rested for the day. At that point, he knew he had to kill all the plants before his strength could not handle them. Two weeks passed and he had cleared all of the carnivorous plants around the area. By the end of the two weeks, two of them had developed a technique to fire their corrosive spit at him. With his reflexes being tuned after fighting so many of them, he was able to avoid them with no problem. The only concern was the white tree that now had folded all its branches inwards and a transparent but think membrane was covering its whole body. He did not want to approach it and left it alone. Another two weeks passed. During the third month, he got the fright of his life. The tree that he thought could not move from its spot and even thought was hibernating was walking around, now with brown branches mixed in with the white ones. They were thicker and had thorns on them that had a green liquid coming out. It also had some green leaves growing amongst the white ones. It was meters away from him, but not attacking. It did not have any eyes but he could feel that it was watching him. He took a stance with the dagger in his hand, but it still did not attack him. Three days passed while the tree would walk around and then rest at a spot for a day and move around again, but not leaving the area. Sheyken was at a loss on what was happening. He should be dead by now since he knew he could not defeat the tree. He thought that Apophis might have something to with it because it made no sense to him. After three days, he decided to continue training. The tree would move to where he was but did nothing even when he trained. After another week passed, he could now envelop a leaf with his telekinesis but he could not move it in any way. It was a step in the right direction. He did not know how long it would take a person from Planturos to train this skill, but he thought he was doing a reasonable job with it. The issue was that now he knew where the ash that he noticed on his clothes when he got there was from. The whole place was losing its vigor and some of the plants were turning black in some spots, including the tree that was still walking around. The ground was starting to have patches of ash everywhere. 'Am I in a horror movie or what? First, there is a tree haunting me and now everything is dying. All that is left is for me to see a ghost.' He did not know it yet, but that very same night a ghost attacked him. He could not sleep and was alert because of the supernatural things happening around him. Throughout his stay there, he was never cold, even when it was raining. Now he was feeling a breeze that made him uneasy. Each day getting colder and colder. When he saw it, it was coming straight for him while coming in and out of existence like a specter. Without wasting any time, he ran straight for it. He did not want to find out how it was going to attack him. Pulling the dagger out he dashed in, dodging a swing of its claw-like hand and stabbed it in the head. The whole scene was melodramatic. If there was a soldier who specializes on ghost in South Korea it would be Sheyken Lewis. He was not paranoid or went out looking for them, it was just that when he was studying his telekinesis, he came across articles about it having effects on ghosts. After finding that out, it was the second subject he would feel his head with. When he stabbed the ghost in the head, he had surrounded the dagger with telekinesis or what others call his aura. Just like that, he had killed his first ghost. This was one of the reasons he always wished to have this ability, it was so versatile. The ghost looked human. It only missing its eyes and was naked. He asked himself how it was running on the ground and not flying. 'Maybe there are different laws here.' By the time morning came, the whole place was vastly different from its former self. Every plant that was there was dead. Everywhere you looked it was grey and black. The place was cold and he could see his own breath as he breathed. 'This place must be haunted.' He said getting ready to leave but noticed that the tree that was moving around had lost its vigor. He came closer to it, only to find out it was dead. It had no signs of life. With his gaming instincts telling him to look inside its trunk, he opened it and found a crystal as large as his hand inside. With a smile from ear to ear he thanked his luck and instincts while absorbing it into his storage space. Using his knowledge from his army days, he quickly calculated where north was, prayed under his breath that the directions here were the same as Earth's. He then set off, officially starting his journey in a new world.
