Unfortunately for Pheyus, conferring with Flantha was inevitable. She had never really been fond of him to begin with, and only voted for his original ambassadorship to avoid being the only Stellar in opposition. Now he carried much more power, a power she didn’t even get to vote on, which left her seriously galled and angry. Pheyus whistled his name as he approached her and was immediately struck with a nasty aura. Flantha didn’t even bother to offer the normal diplomacy of her rank. Instead, she turned her back and slapped her flukes on the Border. Ignoring her rebuff, Pheyus dropped below and then swung around to face her. She squinted at him, then lightly snapped her jaw in resignation. “Flantha, I need your help,” said Pheyus, cutting all of the normal courtesies and formalities.
