Chapter Thirty Eight

" You don't understand me ! You never will !" My Aunty yelled . " What it there to understand .You being complete absurd ! She is our child too ! You can't and never will ask me to throw her out like that " MY uncle yelled back and I close the door looking at the ground . My steps back up . Tears running on the brim of my eyes . I didn't jump into conclusions that all the yelling's were because of me , But I did not feel like going in their anymore . 

I sigh gulping unaware of the bike that still stood in front of me. I look up to see Zanthus with a dark expression . " Why aren't you going in ? " He asked taking my hand . " Can you just drop me somewhere ? Please ?" I asked and he gave me a very dangerous expression . " Why ?" He asked . " Zanthus please . " I request . " Where do you want me to take you?" he asked . Then I realise . He must have work , he can't just take care of me and leave his work . He has studies to do as well . I shook my head . " No ..Just leave me near the park "

"Why ?" He asked again . " Poppy and uncle are fighting . Kanden isn't home. I-I don't wanna .." Zanthus sighs looking at the door . s**t . I was asking for too much . I felt like a burden on him . " Sorry, I'll just go " I said and starting walking away from the house when a strong grip held my hand . 

" I don't think so " He said . 

We both sat on the wooden bench with our eyes facing the evening city lights . I shivered as the cold wind brushed on my body. Even if I had warm clothes over my skin , the wind somehow managed to slip in and touch my stomach . Even after Zanthus draping  his jacket over me , I felt cold . Yet there was somehow a ice-cream box in my hands which I occasionally took bites from. Since I explained how my uncle and Aunt were fighting and that I hated being the only one in the house with there shouting's ,Zanthus thought it would be a great idea to drive all the way back to the end of this city and sit on the edge of a mountain behind a cemetery . I was scared as hell . Imagine suddenly hearing a voice from the open grounds with dead below . I shook off my thoughts and heard the cracking of leaves making me jump and look behind me . " Scared ?" A voice whispered in my ears . I leaned away from Zanthus glaring at him  replying,"I don't like places like these , why did you bring me here ? There must be tons of ghosts floating around ", to which he chuckled.

" There are ghosts around you only when you believe in it " He said and I sigh in frustration . I heard the crunching of the leaves again and I groan looking around biting on my lip . "Relax Baby rose , You see the fallen branch there ?" He stated pointing behind us and I move my head towards it . "Those dried out leaves are making that noise " I leave a heavy breath through my mouth . His hands came in contact with my waist making me gasp out loud . "Shh" He shushed me pulling me over his lap as I stare at him with my wide as 'seen a ghost ' eyes . He had me over his lap , His lap !! . His hand was around my waist . 

I was super uncomfortable , because the weird jumping of frogs in my stomach wouldn't stop . I was now warm . Because now my mind only focused on his hands on me . And because his face was inches away from me . "Z-Zanthus " he hummed in response . "Why are you touching me like this ?" He looked at me . I blush . I couldn't see how deep I blushed but my cheeks and neck felt pretty hot . " Because I feel like touching you " , His reply was stern . "Oh " I mumble and look away . "Are you cold now ?" He asked . Nope , I was more than warm , I was feeling hot and cozy . 

"No " I whispered , my voice low , too low due to overwhelming feeling in me . "Hm ?" He leaned in making me try and lean away but his hand didn't let me . Instead brought me closer making our noses touch ,I was so surprised and the sparks in my body increased . I bite my lip looking down . "I-I" I tried but my mouth wasn't opening . I was nervous around him more this time . I felt shy , as if one wrong move could break or make something . "Ambriose"He called . I frown biting my harder . But his finger landed on my lower lip pulling it out the strong grasp of my teeth ,"Don't do that baby , You might make it bleed " He said . Baby , he called me baby . Oh lord . I was about faint . Suddenly his lips were on mine . 

He pressed them over mine and I was gone . My body was floating . When he took my lower lips between his lips I clenched my fist on his shirt tight . He pulled away with his eyes on mine lips . Nor I or He spoke for minutes . I was too much surprised to even notice him taking on of my hand in his . Undoing my fist and coiling his with mine . Tight . I look at our hands . There didn't fit perfectly . His hand were too big with mine . My fingers were so small compared with his . But his hands was really warm . Unable to sit in the silence I spoke with big gaps and stuttering in middle , "Y-Your , Your hand , h=how they a-are warm ?" His kiss can mess with people's grammar . Or only mine . 

He didn't reply . It took me courage to look into his dark eyes . "Hm?" I asked . " I surprised how you didn't pull away from me " He stated and I look low but is finger held my chin and lift my face . " Do you like me Ambriose ?" He asked . I gulp . I don't know . " Because I do " He confessed . Oh my god . Did he just confessed He liked me . I was about to speak when my cell phone rings .I jump on his lap making him chuckle softly . "Don't laugh " I mutter taking it out and answering it . " Uncle?" . 

"Where are you !!? I am so worried !"He yelled and I sigh . " I-I am coming home . I had .." I stopped myself from speaking any further . I was about to tell him about me and Zanthus being together , He might get angry . " Well get home now !! You are so late " I nodded but remembered I was on a call . "Ya ,ya . I am walking towards it now " I said and hung up. I turn my head and remembered I was still on his lap . I lost my voice again . 

"Uncle , home " I said and he nodded . He took my hand as we walked to his bike . " One thing before we go . " He turned around giving me a stern look . "You will not ignore me . Ever . Understand that ?" I frown . " I never .." He took my chin tight and look at me with a hard look . "O-Okay " I say . He nodded and let go . He left me at my house . We didn't speak but he did get down from his bike and pulled me in . I was shocked and too nervous thinking he was about to kiss me again . But he pecked my cheek and asked me to get in . 

I got tons of yelling from going home late but all that plus being grounded for two days didn't get my face a frown . Because all night I was thinking about that kiss. That evening kiss . The next morning I woke up and had a long shower . It was weekend so I took timing in cleaning my room . Poppy , uncle and Kaden were busy in there stuff . As I get myself some juice Poppy walked in . I tense up . But her behaviour towards me was the same . " Oh morning dear , Did you have breakfast , I am making avocado toast with eggs " Ya , sure " I smile . It was awkward for me .But I managed to smile now and then . I had no idea whether the fight between them was because of me or something else . But my inner mind though it was about me . 

The door bell rang and I walk to the door . I didn't look in the peep hole . Who would trouble us on a Saturday morning right ? I was wrong. The wind from my lungs were knocked out as I saw that person in front of me . I stare at her as she sighs looking at me with this out of words look . 

"Mother " My mouth spoke . She walked in without hesitation and I clench my teeth . " Thank the gods that you still call me mother . Even after all this " She said . Poppy glared at her as she sat on the couch of the living room . " Why are YOU here Rita ?" I shiver at that name . Dad always told me I look at mother . I hated myself for that . 

" I don't want to trouble you . I am not here on the command of my husband nor am I here to force you into giving us a signature . I wanted to see Ambriose . Because I am her mother . Amd because I care " 

I sat in front of my mother , listening to her as she talked about the things that happened between my father and grandma's brother . She looked sad about it surprisingly . I was only ' day dreaming '. But when her voice stopped and she looked at me I crease my eyebrows . " They are coming here again and for the last time Ambriose " My heart sank . Thinking  back on how my father and Nolan would force me . He had gone as far as to slap me when I was only twelve years old . "Ambriose " I was brought back to the present by my mother's hand on me . I pulled it away from her . She frowned . 

"I know you must hate me , I am trying to make it up to you by telling you this , You are of legal age to take care of what is given to you . Its a long process , But Since your grandmother has mad it clear that you hold possession of that land it will be a bit easier for you to have it . You father has been blackmailed by Nolan since grandma died . I can't do anything about it ." I shook my head . " You could , You could at least defend me mother "  I state making her shift . " Its not that easy " She said and I scoff . " Listen to me Ambriose please , All you have to do is claim your name on that huge land , They will come for you tomorrow , even if Nolan might be harsh , just hang in there , I am trying as well . I trying to show my lawyer this reality, but if Nolan finds out " Poppy stopped her .  

My Aunt spoke ,"If you really want to help your daughter stop listening to every single command of your husband " My mother only lowered her head . " Just be careful " She said and stood up . I was about to call for her but she stormed out the door leaving me . " Don't worry , We'll figure it out " Poppy said and I nodded walking to my room . They were coming .I sigh . I need to understand what I am into . I took my bag and walked out the door . I had to take a taxi to reach the place I wanted to go to . As I was on my way My cell phone rings . I bite my lip as The id flashed Zanthus's name . I answered it with a nervous voice . 

" Where are you ?" 

"I am out " He asked where again and I sigh . 

" To a relative ." I answered to which he asked why again . "I can't explain Zanthus " I said and he sounded very annoyed but I was taken by surprise when he spoke the next words .

"Tell me where you are I am coming "

My mouth hung open . "You really don't have to " I spoke . I didn't really want to see him after that kiss . I have gotten really sensitive to even looking at him in the eye after that . Even after hearing his voice , it reminds me of the kiss . I can't stop myself from touching my lips where his laid just last night .

"Ambriose , Where . Are . You . Now ?"

His demanding voice boomed through the cell phone and I gulp . His voice seemed angry . He was angry . I frown . Now I was scared that he might just do something If don't tell him  . So I told him where I was . He hung up on me the minute I told him the house .

I didn't think he would really come . But if he wasn't coming he wouldn't have hung up on me like that . Would he ? I knocked on the door hesitantly. When it opened Sia leaned on the door frame giving a look . "Well . What are you doing here ?" She asked folding her arms .I tangled my fingers with the fabric of my shirt and I gave out a sigh . "I am sorry . " I said tears threatening to fall out my eyes . She rolled her eyes wrapping her hand behind my shoulder and taking me inside .

"So she came to you now huh " Sia stated leaned back while her husband smiled at me . I lower my eyes . "You are being too rough on that kid " he said standing up and walking to the kitchen. "Rough!?? When I told her about her mother plan on getting her signature and naming that land on her husband she didn't believe me . Now after six years of ingorance she comes to me to apologise! " I sniff .

"Don't you cry you little brat ! " I whimper at her shoutings . "Sia . Let her relax " Her husband Ben stated . He handed me a glass of water and I emptyed the glass feeling really thirsty . "Well now that you realise what you are into . I don't wanna have this conversation again . And about what you told me earlier . Are you sure about that ?" She asked and nodded .

"I,I heard her on the call yesterday night . After going home . She must be talking to her friend or someone else . " Sia gives out a sigh . " Why is everyone agaist this poor child " Ben said patting my head . "Poor child ? I had giving her every single detail six years ago . But her inner child never listened " Ben groans . "Can you stop with the six years now babe ?" I gulp wiping my tears .

" I am calling Henry . " Ben said walking away . "Henry is Ben's friend . He is a lawyer he will help you get through this . Since you can't even trust the person who you are leaving with . Its better to hire someone you don't know who understands your situation " I started thanking her over and over again . She only cursed and rolled her eyes . Sia wasn't one of the people who might melt and hug you . But she was my cousin sister who I had chose to ignore ever since she told me how my mother was the bad woman .

She was true . My mother had to come to tell me about how Nolan would come to me soon . But I knew it . Better than anyone that Father himself had sended her to me . To warn me . To tell me that Nolan wasn't ever giving up on taking that land . As the doorbell rand Ben walked up . "Ummm ...Ambriose " He called and I walked towards him . The person standing at the door was Zanthus .

" who are you ?" Zanthus asked . "He.." Before I could speak Ben spoke . "Who the heck are you asking about me in my house !?" I walk to him tugging on his sleeve. "Who is this man Ambriose? " Zanthus demanded an answer . "He is my husband . Now who are you and what do you want ?"  Sia asked standing beside me . Zanthus raised his eyebrow and I sigh .

"I am a bit suspicious here . The fact that you came all the way here for Ambriose " Sia said looking at Zanthus . "I needed to know where she was and why she was here " He answered . Sia nodded . After an hour of talking most questions being asked to Zanthus about who he was to me . We were done . That question was straight. But I had cut in before Zanthis replied and told them he was a close friend. Zanthus had giving me a rought look but I shook it away ."We will leave now " I said and Sia nodded rubbing her forehead . "Ambriose, just in case . Call this number . I'll be at my office . Its fifteen minutes away from your house so in case they come call me " Ben said handing me his card and I nodded  

"We will also need the papers as soon as possible. Uncle has it right ?" Sia asked and I nodded . As we walked out the house Zanthus grabbed my hands and turned me to meet his rough gaze . " You didn't tell me about this " He stated . "My mother came home this morning " I answer . "And your Aunty ? Whats her situation? " he asked . Might I add . As we spoke to my cousin he had understood that my Aunty was a problem now . He had to be very observant to put these things together. Due to his behaviour I just couldn't dodge the questions.

"Last night when I got home I heard her talking on the phone as I passed by her room . She was talking about me to someone . I-I don't think its her fault " I said . He frowned . He helped me get on his bike and he pulled away from my cousin's drive through . We ended up on the same hill with cemetery. This time I was relaxed . The second time coming here made me really see the place in day light . Apart from it being a cemetery.  It look beautiful at the end of the hill . There were so many white flowers around . The colour I really liked .

"Why do you think its not her fault ?" He asked taking my hand and coiling his fingers around mine . Bringing our hands to rest on his leg . I was highly aware of the tingling sensation in my arms and stomach but tired ignoring it . "I have been staying with them for a while now . It has become a sort of must to take care of me because of what my father and Nolan can do . Due to this , Uncle feels pressured . You see , Nolan can do anything to get his name on that land . Even trouble Uncle . Poppy doesn't want that . My problem could affect Kaden's future plan of going abroad. Getting a lawyer and sorting things out a big deal . It takes time . I just , I just know she is tired of my problems now "

Zanthus wrapped his arms around mine and kissed my forehead . "You'll figure it out " He said and I sigh resting my head on his shoulder His hand moved to pick a fallen white flower from the ground and tuck it in my hair making me blush . He left me home and The first thing I did was take off my clothes , wore a big long tshirt and slept the rest of the day .
