San Jose, Roxanne - Avid Second Chances Bundle: Time Travel [Avid Book, Mainstream MF, Sci-Fi, Young Adult/New Adult Romance] Chapter Two
As soon as Angelie and John arrived in Angelie’s attic, they ran downstairs to the dining room, discussing what had happened. John excitedly said, “Do you know you invented a time machine?”
Angelie grinned. “Yes!”
Suddenly, the front door opened, and Angelie’s parents, Patty and Steven Thompson, arrived after a vacation out of town.
Patty said, “John! It is nice to see you here. So, what’s up with you both?”
Angelie’s eyes sparkled. “The time machine worked!”
Steven replied, “That’s great! So where did you go?”
John replied, “To the future, the year 3050, and it was amazing for my first time going in the time machine...” Then he stood up and gestured with his hands excitedly telling them about the flying cars. “It was just amazing!”
Angelie replied, “It was shocking to see aliens for the first time, when saw them when we went to Mercury!”
“She was frozen like ice when she saw them.” joked John, smiling at her.
Patty and Steven laughed. Steven said, “I am glad you guys had fun.” Knowing her daughter has been in the attic working in the time machine
“The future must be very different.” Patty asked.
John insisted, “Yes, it is. More advanced such as flying cars and jets where we can travel outside Earth.”
Patty’s and Steven’s eyes widened. Steven said to Angelie, “Your mother and I will go to our room to rest. You two should rest from your travel in 3050”.
Angelie said, “Dad, promise you won’t tell anyone.”
Steven smiled and replied, “I won’t, I promise.”
“Well, honey, it sounds like it was a great adventure. I am proud of your accomplishments.”
John kissed her on the lips. “I will see you later. I am glad to be with you in 3015”
Angelie smiled, “Me too, See you later.” She kissed him back on the lips and she closed the door.
John went back to his house and saw his parents, Bob and Celine Salvador. “Hey, son,” Bob greeted him.
John replied, “Hi, Dad!”
“So how was your visit at Angelie’s house?” Bob asked.
“It was great.” John felt guilty for not telling his dad about the time machine Angelie made and that they traveled to 3050.
Before John walked to his bedroom, he asked, “Dad, if a time machine existed, would you go back to any point in time?”
Bob replied, “No, I wouldn’t, because I accept the past and I am proud of it, especially when I first met and dated your mother in 1970. Now, we are married and have you as our son”
John replied, “I know”
Angelie went up to her bedroom and studied her time machine notes again before turning in and getting some much-needed sleep.
The next day, John visited Angelie’s house with a cappuccino he’d gotten from their kitchen. “Good morning, honey. I brought you a cappuccino.”
Angelie gave him a kiss. “Thank you. Do you want food?”
John apologized, “Oh, I forgot about that.”
Angelie replied, “That’s okay. I will make us clubhouse sandwich in the kitchen”
She stood up from the table in the attic and went to the kitchen, grabbing bread, lettuce, tomato, ham, and mayonnaise. “All set.” She walked back to the attic with their clubhouse sandwich
While John waited for his girlfriend, he went over to the time machine and tested how it worked. He pressed 1970 on the time machine remote control, and the time machine lit up. He went inside the automatic slide door, but as the time machine transported to 1970, he accidentally dropped the remote control on the floor.
Angelie walked into the attic with the clubhouse sandwich in her hands, and she looked for John. “Honey, where are you?” Silence. She placed the sandwiches on the table and she stepped on the time machine remote control and immediately realized he’d used the time machine. She looked at the remote control and read, “1970.” Her mouth dropped in horror. “Oh, John! No, no, no.” She placed her hands on her head. “What will I do now?”
Confused, she walked around and grabbed her cellphone to dial his father Mr. Salvador’s number.
Bob answered the call.
Angelie said, “Hello, Mr. Salvador?”
Bob evidently noticed the panic in Angelie’s voice. “Is there something wrong?”
Angelie replied, “Your son is in 1970.”
“What?” Bod yelled
Angelie tried to calm him down. “You will not believe me, but I just invented a time machine.”
Bob said, “Okay, you’ve got my attention, tell me what happened.’ when I finished, he responded, “I will get my wife and come over.”
Bob put down the telephone and hurried to the master bedroom where his wife was.
Celine was laying down in their bedroom noticed the disturbed look on Bob’s face. “Are you okay?”
Bob replied, “We need to go to Angelie’s house. We have a situation.”
“Is it bad?”
Bob nodded and insisted, “Let’s go!”
Celine replied, “Okay!” She quickly got up from the bed and dressed, rushing they went to Angelie’s house.
While in the car, Celine asked, “Are you sure you do not want to tell me what’s going on?”
Bob shook his head, concentrating on his driving.
When they arrived at the house, they rang the doorbell. Angelie ran toward the door, tears stinging her eyes. “John is in 1970.”
Celine gasped. “What? How did this happen?” They stormed inside the house.
Bob was red-faced, yelling, “Yes, Angelie, how did this happen? You better explain.” He grabbed her by the shoulders. “We need to call the police.”
Angelie begged, “I will find a way. Do not call the police yet. They are not ready to know about a time machine.”
Bob threw his hands up in the air while Celine cried.
“Stay here in the living room,” Angelie said as she ran to the attic.
She picked up the time machine remote control and read the year again. “1970.” She ran back to Celine and Bob.
Angelie confirmed, “Yes, I invented a time machine, and John and I traveled to 3050 yesterday.”
Celine and Bob were silent. Finally, Bob said, “How could this happen?”
Angelie replied, “I will show you the time machine was gone in the attic.” They walked to the attic.
Taking deep breaths to pull herself together, Angelie demonstrated how John traveled to 1970 with the use of the time machine remote. Celine sobbed into her husband’s shoulder.
Bob asked, “What do you propose we do now?”
Angelie showed no emotion, staying strong for John. “I will go to 1970, but first, I must make a better time machine remote control so it can transport me to 1970 without using the time machine.”
Bob insisted, “Let us come with you,”
“Yes.” Celine wiped tears from her eyes.
Angelie refused since it was too dangerous for them to join for faster pace.
Bob said, “Please find my son and be safe.” Angelie hugged them, and tears fell from her eyes. “I am so sorry.”
Celine empathized with her. “You will find our son.” She felt concerned over John’s safety, “What will our son do with no extra clothes or money?”
A few hours later, Angelie’s parents arrived home, and they noticed John Salvador’s parents’ automobile parked in the driveway. They asked themselves what was going on.
“There must be a problem,” Steven said as he entered the house.
Patty yelled, “Angelie! What is going on?”
Angelie yelled back as she ran down the stairs to her parents, “John traveled to 1970. Celine and Bob are in the attic with the time machine remote control John left.”
Patty yelled, “What?” They ran to the attic.
Angelie explained, “He pressed 1970 on the time machine remote control and entered the time machine, which transported him to 1970.”
Angelie picked up her time machine notes and shared them with everyone. “If I make a proper time machine remote control, then I can find John.”
