I run inside and pick up Grey in my arms and put him on the sofa in the living room. He screams bloody murder.
"Carol?" I pick her up next. "Are you fine? Do you hurt somewhere too?" I ask frantically while pulling out my phone calling the doctor.
She shakes her head vehemently and is crying.
I call the doc and thankfully he is available and said he'd be here in ten. Christian is groaning in pain and slipping in and out of consciousness.
Carol can't stop crying.
"Shh... It's okay... The doctor is on his way... You'll be fine." Christian is in agony and I am afraid to touch him. Carol is hugging me, hiding her face in the crook of my neck.
"Christian... It's okay... Shh... You're fine... Don't sleep. Look at me... " I try to keep him awake. I don't know if he can hear me or not.
Thankfully Dr. G arrives.
"What happened?"
"He slipped off the stairs. I think he broke his hand."
I sit Carol on the chair and help Dr. G sit Grey up. He screams. Holy f**k.
"Get me some warm water."
I run and boil some water real quick, all the while hearing him scream.
"He has broken his left arm and cracked his rib. Also, he has sprained his left foot. That was a nasty fall." G tells me when I come back with the water.
I flinch. I can see his arms and foot swelling and it looks painful.
"I will need you to hold him, like this, his other side while I give him an injection on his arm so that it's numb and I can plaster it."
I see him take out three shots and wince. The needle going into a broken arm. Gonna hurt like f**k.
"Don't look." I turn his face towards me and hold his right arm as carefully as I can. He doctor injects him quickly and he cries. I am not joking. By the time he is stabbed in his arms, chest, and foot he is a crying mess. His voice is hoarse from all the screaming. The doctor plasters him up for the next thirty minutes.
"Make sure he gets lots of rest. No physical strain on his body and I will have to see him again to check for concussions. I'll come back tomorrow." He says as he lays him back down.
Christian is still groaning in pain.
"Please check Carol once too. She was in his arms when he fell. Weren't you Carol?" I look at her and she has been crying too quite a lot.
"Hush... It's okay.. baby doesn't cry." I pick her up and bring her to Dr. G who checks her for the next few minutes.
"She looks fine, apart from being a little shocked. Make her have a warm bottle of milk. She'll be fine."
Thank God she is okay.
"I will give him another shot to help him sleep. He is still in pain." Dr. G says looking at Christian again. "He's never going to get a night of sleep at this rate"
"f**k it. No more." Christian says.
"Hey, it's okay. You'll be fine. It'll help you sleep."
"Noo... Arrghh... I am fine."
G prepares a shot totally ignoring Grey.
I turn him around, all the while ignoring his protests and G gives him a shot on his butt.
"You're an asshole. f**k. That hurts." He complains.
"I am sorry. So sorry. All done now." I cajole, rubbing his butt.
I lay him back down gently.
I thank Dr. G and he takes leave.
I am scared to carry him upstairs to his room. So I quickly grab his pillow and a blanket and tuck him on the sofa for the night.
After, I give Carol a quick bath and make a bottle for her. I settle down on the chair in the living room near Christian with a whimpering Carol in my arms and before we know it we fall asleep.
