Chapter 3: Sightseeing
Alex spent the entire day in the simulator with Kasinda, working out the problems she gave him and learning more and more about how to handle a starship. It seemed like a perpetual task; no sooner had he solved one problem than she immediately gave him another one, even tougher. She was a hard teacher, never satisfied with his performance, always telling him where he’d made stupid mistakes and stretching him to the limits of his ability. Not until after he’d finished the sixth problem did Alex look at his wristpak and see that he was already late for dinner.
