Chapter Four

2063 Words
Mark Things have only gotten weirder since Stormy told everyone her father is Lucifer/Hades. Everyone steers clear of her and tries their damndest to avoid contact with her, except for Athos he’s like a moth to the flame. He’s at her beck and call 24/7 and I think I know why he wants to know more. Growing up he’s always thought Lucifer just got a bad rep, Saying everyone just treated him like the bad guy until he became one. With that being said obviously he’s going to try and see the brighter side of this entire situation. Logic and reasoning has never been a part of his plan and doesn’t seem like it will be now.  I have too much on my plate with the commitment ceremony coming up, faster than I thought. We still have to invite the Alpha’s & Luna’s of the fellow tribes, I still have to invite our parents earthly and godlike, I still have to prepare the house. Which means the entire pack has to pitch in, which means it’s time for a house meeting. I call Athos to my office so that he can get the tribe to the meeting hall, but he’s nowhere to be found. He’s blocking me out for telekinetic communication and he’s not answering his cell phone, wherever the i***t is he better be ok. “CONNOR!” I yell out from my office waiting for a response, I cannot communicate with him through telekinetics if he’s technically not apart of my tribe. The kid has been here since Stormy basically moved in. He might as well make it official and join the pack, but I understand he’s loyal to his family and doesn’t want to lose them. I think at the ceremony I will present the idea and leave the rest up to him. “CONNOR!” I yell out again, this time finally hearing someone running down the hallway. He knocks on the door and almost falls into my office as I tell him to come on in. “Yes, sir,” He says out of breath, it’s as if he had ran across the entire compound to get to my office. “One, why are you out of breath? Two, have you seen Athos?” I say looking up from the paperwork sitting on my desk. “One, I was outside running with the pups. Two, No he left a few hours ago” As he finished his sentence his face contorted to that face you normally get when you’ve said too much. “He left? Do you know where he went?” I ask, I full well he does and I need to get that information out of him. “No,” He says trying to cut the conversation. “Fine! Where’s Stormy?” I ask stopping him before he tries to run out of my office, He stops in his tracks and slowly turns back around. His eyes told it all, Athos and Stormy ran off together. “Look, all I know is she said she needed to something before Saturday” “WHERE ARE THEY?” I say growling at him under my breath. “I heard them say something about her old apartment and her friends, that’s all I know I swear” He throws his hands up and steps out of the way, I stand up grabbing my keys and cellphone. I throw them into my pants pocket and grab my jacket and Connor, I now have to go on a road trip to retrieve these two. I swear on my fathers' name, I will kill these two before they kill me from stress. -------------------- Stormy I’ve been seeing omens ever since I’ve spoken to my mother. A black cat here, a crow there and regular wolves ( I think ) following me around in the woods near the river. They never move or do anything, they just sit there and watch me. It’s creepy and makes my skin crawl, but I think it’s my father watching me. I’ve also been having the worst cramps ever, they come and go every so often. They can’t be contractions because that’s virtually impossible, right? I think I just need to clear my head, I need to see something different. The only person who isn’t apart of this mess is Kendra, my only friend. It’s been weeks, months even since I’ve spoken to her I can only hope she doesn’t hate me.  I’ve decided to go visit but the only way I can go is if Athos goes with me, I know Mark will disapprove but I need to see her. She’s the only NORMAL part of my life left, she’s my sanity at this moment. The ride was quiet and dreary which is weird because Athos is always so talkative but since he’s found out my father is Lucifer, he’s been hovering but quiet. I just want things to go back to how they were.  We arrived at her house and it looks the same thank god! I didn’t even wait for the car to stop moving before I hopped out the truck and ran to her front door, knocking on it as if Michael Myers was walking up behind me. When she answered her beautiful face literally brought me to tears.  “Storm? What’s wrong? Are you ok?” She asked me pulling me inside and trying to shut the door but Athos was in the way. “Oh Kenny, I’m fine. Just happy to see you” I say wiping my eyes and smiling at her. There’s soo much I need to tell her but I can’t, some of it isn’t my story to tell. I just give her a warm smile and sit down on the couch, never letting her hand go.  “Stormy, look at me. Are you sure you’re ok?” She says brushing my hair out of my face, she’s normally so ghetto a fact she’s proud of but today she’s my friend. The same one that lied in bed with me while I bawled my eyes out like a baby when my grandmother passed away, the same one that took me to prom because the boy I liked told me I was too fat for him. f**k it, I have to tell her something maybe I can just tell her how much of an ass Danny is and How I ‘m with Mark. “Kenny, remember that guy. Danny?” I say trying not to start crying again. “Yeah, I remember him. The cute redhead right?” She says, getting up to put on a pot of tea. “Well, it turns out he’s an asshole.” “I love you girl but I could’ve told you that, YOU CAN’T TRUST REDHEADS! Facts” She says giggling. Sadly she’s always said that she’s such an oddball. “Well I mean, they aren’t all bad.”   “Nope, every last one of them. Those gingers have no souls, you know this woman!” Instead of responding I get up to and join her in the kitchen, she’s standing in front of the stove staring at Athos. She looks confused, her face is twisted up and she’s deep in thought. I peek over at Athos and saw him talking on the phone, I assume it’s Mark on the other side of that call. “Are you ok?” I asked her walking towards her. “Oh me, yeah! I’m great. I missed you and Kelly, she’s skipped town again.” “Oh really?” I say rolling my eyes, I know exactly where the evil b***h it and I hope her body is rotting away.  “Yeah, but I haven’t heard much since then. But um, who is that?” “Who Athos?” “Yeah, there’s something about him I can’t put my finger on it.” “He is a little on the weird side” “No, that’s not it. There’s something else other than him being extremely hot!” “You think Athos is hot?” “Who thinks I’m hot?” Athos asks, walking towards the kitchen counter, separating us from him. “Oh, umm I didn’t mean it like that.” Kendra sputters out, I’ve never her stutter before.  “Oh, then what did you mean?” Athos asked as he rounded the counter so he was face to face with her. His expression went from a jokester smile to something much more serious, almost sinister. He then spun on one foot and walked out of the house, leaving us both looking confused. There are so many questions there but I don’t have time to ask them. “Ok, that was weird. Anyways, other than man troubles how are you?” She asked grabbing the teapot off the stove.  “Well, actually my man troubles are solved sort of. I’m getting married, kind of.” “Oh my god, married? When?” “Sunday at Sun Down.”  “That’s great Stormy, but not to the Redheaded freak right?” “No, his name is Mark Esposito” At that very moment, someone bangs on the front door and she rushes to answer it. Before she calls out my name I already know who it is, its Mark and I know he’s not happy. I slowly re-enter the living room and stroll towards him, he stands there with his hands in his pockets talking with Kendra so much calmer than he really is. I can see the lightning in his eyes when we leave there will be nothing stopping him from flipping out on me. She keeps peeking out the front door at Athos, who is standing off to the side attempting to avoid her gaze. A light bulb goes off and I decide to invite her to the wedding. “Kendra, what are you doing Sunday?” “Umm, work. Why?” “You’re going to call out, be my maid of honor?” “Awe, of course. But you know my boss is going to fire me?” “f**k him, just show him your t**s and you’re safe.” She starts laughing and gives me a hug, I can feel the warmth of her hug as she pulls me a little tighter. Mark shakes her hand and escorts me out the front door, as we walk down the path towards the car he pulls me close and whispers in my ear.  “You know Athos is going to kill you right?” “Why is that?” “I think he’s just found his real mate” “But Xiomara, she was his mate. Right?” “Exactly, but I think that was more of an Athos wanted her and her forced it. This time it’s completely out of his control, He can either accept her as his mate or reject her. However, if he rejects her it’ll cause him damage as well. He’s gonna get you for inviting her.” “Oh, well he’ll get over it. She’s my friend and I love them both.” “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” He smiles and helps me into the truck, Athos climbs into the car with Connor leaving Mark and me alone. Before we pull off I can feel a shift in the air, this is going to be a very long ride.
