Athos
I’ve been roaming around that house attempting to avoid Stormy and Mark, hell even Connor at this point. All of them are the bane of my existence at this time, the only person that brings a smile to my face is Xavier. That kid is a little ball of energy just like I was growing up but I know he can’t stay with me, his life is endangered because he’s of magical powers and we are a den of wolves. I need to know that I protected him the way a father should and didn’t fail him like I failed Xiomara. My heart still aches when I think of her but it doesn’t hurt anymore. I know that she’s safe and would be telling me to get over myself.
I thought I had finally gotten my s**t together and then I met her, Kendra. She’s under my f*****g skin and I can’t shake her, I’ve been picturing her face in my dreams and tomorrow I have to spend the entire day looking at her from a far during the ceremony festivities. I wish Storm hadn’t invited her but of course, she did. I swear she did it on purpose! I mean I even have to drive to pick her up tonight so that she’s there for the full day. I’d roll my eyes but Stormy would see that and smack me silly.
The drive to her house was long and tiring, I wasn’t aware of how far from the commoners we truly were until having to take the trip on my own. As I pulled up in front of her home I noticed her almost instantly. She's very distinctive and her smell is divine. I throw the car into park and try to gain my composure, reminding myself it’s just a ride and once we get to the house I’m done with her. Honestly, I don’t even have to speak to her if I don’t want to. I laugh at myself as I get out of the car and walk up to her front door, she’s just getting out of the shower. I can smell the fruity soap from outside the door, it’s intoxicating. I knocked on the door but no one answered, so I banged on the door again and then it swung open and there’s a shotgun pointed in my face.
“Whoa! I’m just here to pick you up for the ceremony” I say stepping back and out of the way of her gun.
“Oh s**t! I’m sorry, I thought you were my ex-boyfriend.” She lowers the gun and steps to the side letting me slide past her in the doorway. As I slide past her I have a mirage of scents hitting me at once and slightly making my d**k jump in my sweats. Her sweet aroma, soap, and a subtle hint of arousal it’s AH-f*****g-MAZING! If I didn’t know any better I’d say she wanted me to throw her onto her couch and f**k the living daylights out of her raw, but I do know better and I need to get ahold of myself. I guess I was staring a little too hard at her wrapped in nothing but her towel because she looked down and her brown cheeks turned bright red.
“I should go get dressed,” She says smiling and then dashing up the stairs.
I just stand there looking around at her pictures, she’s beautiful. I feel so awkward to stand here fighting a hard-on in this woman's house, but Stormy sent me to pick her up. EVIL ASS!!
After 20 minutes she comes down the stairs in a white tank top and blue hip-hugging jeans, her beautiful brown skin sparkles as if she dipped herself in glitter and her brown locks are pulled up into a huge ponytail. She’s carrying a small duffle bag with her, I guess with more clothes for tomorrow. I reach my hand out to grab the bag and my hand lands on top of hers, it’s like electricity. She pulls her hand back and smiles, brushing past me on the steps. She walks into the kitchen and then yells something but I cannot hear her. I sit the bag down and walk towards her so I can hear better, at the same moment she’s walking out of the kitchen and bumps into me.
“We really need to stop meeting this way” I chuckle trying to hide the fact that I’m probably more annoyed about this whole thing than I should be.
“Yeah, you’re right. Umm, do you want a soda or something?” She says slowly raising her head to look me in the face. Those beautiful hazel-green eyes staring at me are extinguishing my flame and it’s horrible.
“Not thirsty… hungry but not thirsty” I say, stepping towards her slowly. I watch her back up towards the counter, we do this tango until she’s pressed against the counter. I’m standing directly in front of her and close enough I can feel her heartbeat against my stomach because she’s short.
“Hungry? Umm, I can make you a sandwich” She says before gulping, her hands wander aimlessly as if she’s trying to reach the refrigerator but I’m too close for her to move. I place my finger under her chin and pull her face close to mine.
“I think you know what I want,” I say, nudging my knee between her legs and separating them. I can feel the heat radiating off of her onto my knee and it’s making me almost change in front of her. I look down at her and her eyes are now closed and her lips are full and waiting but I pull away and I realize she’s a mere mortal. Mating with her will not only cause damage for her but could put the whole in the pack in danger. I can’t do that, I must keep this intact. I rush out of the kitchen and grab her bag heading out the door to the car. The first thing I can think to do is call Mark, he has more experience in this mess than I do.
“Mark!”
“What’s wrong Athos?”
“I almost did it, I almost messed everything up”
“How so?”
“I was a dime's width away from f*****g her man!”
“And your point is?”
“I’m a werewolf, a person of magical powers fire to be exact and she’s a mortal, regular human. I can’t do that”
“Dude, relax. What if she doesn’t care? What if she likes you too?”
“I don’t know, maybe that’ll change things”
“Exactly, why don’t you complete the original task and you two will have all weekend to figure this out”
“You’ve been talking to Stormy too much”
“She is my mate”
“True.”
“Alright, we good?”
“f**k!”
“What’s wrong?”
“She heard everything. I gotta go.”
And I disconnected the line. She’s standing outside of the car door staring at me as if I have two heads, I’ve never wanted to reverse the hands of time more than I did right then. I need to talk to my father, Hephaestus, he’ll know how to fix this but first things first I need to get her into the damn car.
She’s backing away from the car door and heading back inside, I jump out of the car and cut her off at the front door. Her eyes are wide and I see a flash of fear spreading across her face. I step back and just start talking.
“ Look, what you heard back there I was joking”
“ Do I look stupid to you?”
“ Absolutely not!”
“ Then why are you lying to me? What else should I know?”
“ Nothing, that’s it.”
“ So you’re a werewolf and Mark?”
“ He’s the Alpha, I’m his Beta”
“ What the f**k does that even mean?”
“ It means he’s the leader of our pack and I’m his second in command”
“ I bet you’re going to tell me Stormy knows and Vampires are real?”
I just stand there shoving my hands into my pockets, trying to resist the urge to pull her close and hug her. I know she’ll kill me if I touched her right now. I guess my silence answered her questions because she just sat on her porch and put her head in her hands. She no longer looked mad, just confused.
“ So… this ceremony? What is it?”
“ Maybe Stormy should be the one to tell you that?”
“ You’re absolutely correct, please take me to her so I can slap the s**t out of her. And don’t try anything mister”
“Athos”
“Say what?”
“My name, it’s Athos Esposito”
“And you’re a werewolf, like you change and s**t?”
“Yeah, kinda like that,” I say chuckling to her question.
“Hmmm, so it’s kind of like Twilight?”
“Ew, no. No one sparkles and it’s definitely more dangerous than that.”
“You will explain yourself tonight. For now, I want my best friend”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Kendra, My name is Kendra Santos”
“I love it.”
“Excuse me?”
“Oh, sorry. Just I like your name, my mother went crazy and gave all of us Greek names”
“Mark is definitely not Greek.”
“True but he’s named after his father, whose name was Mars.”
“Mars? That's weird”
“You could say that.”
I finally got her to get into the car and I headed back to the compound. I tried to use telepathy to tell Mark to warn Stormy but he’s not answering. f**k! She’s going to kill me. Oh well.
