Greyson
A quarter to five.
Time to pick up the princess.
“Hey, Owen. I have to go now.”
He turned back. “Is it time already?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh, then you should go now. Don’t worry about the bike, bro. I’ll take care of this baby.”
“I know you will. See you tomorrow.” Owen was the best mechanic I had and he never disappointed me. I knew he would take care of my bike.
I headed to my Ducati, wearing my helmet, and swung my legs to sat on the bike. I roared the engine before I finally took off from my garage. The distance from my garage to Boston Public Library was not that far. And Lola rarely out at the exact five o’clock. Whether she was still busy with her job or she was talking with that professor dude.
Just stop holding yourself back just because of your silly promise to Lola or you will lose her for good.
Faye’s words kept resonating in my mind.
I didn’t want that.
I didn’t want to imagine my life without Lola in it. I could stand having her talking with other guys but never out of my reach.
Or maybe I couldn’t.
I couldn’t stand seeing her chatting with other guys. The sight pissed me off. All I could think of was how to ran them down with my precious Ducati.
I reached the library and didn’t see Lola at the entrance. I pulled up my jacket sleeve and it was 04.58. I was two minutes earlier.
I jumped off my bike and pushed off my helmet, landing my ass on the edge of the saddle.
Continuing my thought about Lola.
How long had I been like this?
We were best friends since childhood. I was the only friend she had. Well, I practically scared them off.
The reason was pretty much simple. I didn’t want to share Lola with anyone. Yes, I allowed girls to talk to her but I had to set boundaries with being with d***s. They bullied her when she was a little girl. But they targeted her when she was older enough once they realized she was a woman, a being with p***y. Well, guys practically bullied the girl they liked. I was just the same. I loved teasing Lola. I loved seeing her white skin turned red as a tomato. Witnessing it burning like a scalded water.
But I was allowed. That was it. Period.
I could safely conclude that I was being possessive since I was younger. Was this healthy? Being possessive over someone I couldn’t have or maybe shouldn’t have? A forbidden girl. But what could I say? The forbidden always tasted the best.
Dylan had asked me once why I never bothered to confess. My answer would be always because Lola didn’t feel the same way as me. She saw me as her friend. Her knight, not her prince.
I didn’t want to change our friendship. I didn’t want to make her confused.
I had a green light from her brother, it was now up to me when I would make a move. Sometimes I had but Lola was a slowpoke and never aware of it. Her attention was fully on that professor whose name had been forgotten by me. Guys’ names had never been inside my mind longer than three seconds, especially if they were specifically marking Lola as their prey. Not even ladies’ name. I was indeed an ass.
My phone chimed and I pulled it out of my pocket. Dylan?
“Hello?”
“Hey, Grey? Are you with Lola now?”
“No, not yet. I’m still waiting for her.”
“I see. Could you come to my house after you picked her up? There’s something I need to talk to you and with Lola too.”
“Okay, I’ll be there.”
“Thanks.” He ended the call.
Something he needed to talk about? What would it be? Oh, well. I would get the answer once I escorted his sister home.
I pushed my iPhone back into my pocket when Lola finally on my radar. “About time.” She looked at me and immediately sprinting her short legs. Don’t run to me like that, Lola.
She stopped in front of me. Her face was flushed. s**t, she was the cutest. “Did I make you wait too long?”
“No. I was early like usual,” I replied and looked down at her hand. She brought the helmet. Thank God for that. I helped her jumped on the pillion by when I said, “Did Dylan call you?”
“No. Why?”
“He called me asking me to go to your house because there’s something he wants to talk about.”
“Really? That’s unusual. So, you will be coming then?”
“Yeah.”
“Then, I will cook your favorite.”
“Oh, lucky me.” I jumped to my saddle and wore my helmet. After checking Lola was ready, I ignited the engine and launched to her house.
Once we reached her house, as usual, I lowered the bike quite close to the pavement for her to jump off and I cut off the engine. I saw the light in her house was on, indicating Dylan was at home already. That was very unusual for him because just like Lola, he usually worked until late. Dylan just began his occupation as a general practitioner and he was still in training.
We both walked into the house. “Dylan, I’m home,” she called out for her brother.
“I’m at the dining room,” Dylan informed. We went to the dining room where Dylan was sitting on the stool in front of the counter while drinking water. “Welcome, you two.”
“Hey, Greyson told me that you have something to talk about?” Lola asked.
“Yeah.”
“Should I make dinner first?”
“Sure. We could talk during dinner.”
“Okay. You can wait with Dylan, Greyson. I’ll go change my clothes,” she said and headed to her bedroom. Leaving me alone with her brother.
“Drink, Grey?” he offered.
“Beer.” He went to the fridge, grabbed a beer, unscrewed it, and handed the cold bottle to me. “Thank you.” I sat on the stool while taking a sip.
“Before Lola returns, I think I should say it to you first.”
“What is it?”
“Well, I have to move out,” he said, halting me from drinking the beer. Move out?
“Where?”
“Canada. I should be there by next week. The professor at my hospital asked me to go there to increase my skill to be a doctor.” Wow, that was…amazing. And quite shocking as well. I knew there would be a time where Dylan had to move to study more about medical stuff and if he could make it, he could go to Europe.
Wait.
Did that mean…I will be separated from Lola?
And my heart just squeezed by the thought.
“And…why did you call me?”
“I want to ask your help.”
“Which is?”
“I was thinking about Lola and I will be leaving her alone a lot if I brought her with me and I don’t want that. And the rent will be over this month so,” he paused, directing his brown eyes to me. And he let out the question that would change my life forever. “Could Lola stay with you until I get back?”
I just lose all my senses.
Only Dylan’s request echoing in my head.
Could Lola stay with you until I get back?
I became deaf.
I became blind.
I became mute.
Lola with me. 24/7.
That was like the biggest reward from God…or Satan.
I could see her from I opened my eyes until I closed them. But I had to hold back around her. I meant no respect but with Lola wrapped her arms around me while riding my bike, my c**k twitched non-stop ready to burst.
This was such an alluring yet dangerous request.
I cleared my throat. “Why you ask me?”
“Because I trust you.” Oh, f**k me. “I was thinking Faye because, well, she’s a girl. But I remembered she’s staying with her family and her flat is not that big to squeeze one more person although maybe Faye and her family won’t mind but I can’t ask her to do that to me. There’s no way I will give her in Owen’s care so the only person I can trust the most…is you, Greyson.”
I appreciated that he trusted me. But did he know what he was doing?
I exhaled and looked down at my beer. “You know how I feel about her.” Yep, that. That was the biggest problem here.
“Like I said, I trust you.”
“What the hell that supposed to mean?”
“I know you won’t be doing anything she doesn’t like. Just consider it as your ticket to woo my sister gently,” he said and I laughed. I gained another cupid. Cupid Dylan. How funny…not.
Taking another sip from the beer, I said, “Lola won’t mind staying with me. I will be the one suffering to hold back.”
This time, Dylan laughed hard. Yeah, this man loved to tease me about his sister. “So, would you accept?” he asked again as I looked straight to his eyes, the same brown eyes as his sister. Although he was a man, with the same eyes color as Lola, I was like looking at Lola. It was like she was begging me. Oh, I would love to see Lola begging under my mercy. f**k you, Greyson. Knock the s**t off.
“Depends on her answer.”
Dylan clucked his tongue. “You want her to say yes.”
I smiled. “If Lola doesn’t want it, I won’t force her. But she has nowhere to go so she should say yes.”
Dylan shook his head while smiling. “You’re lucky because you are my friend.”
“I’m a lucky bastard who is going to have your sister 24/7 next month.”
“Oh, I will go this Saturday so you will be having her on Saturday.”
“The quicker the better.”
“Asshole.” Yes, I was.
And we heard Lola was coming down. “Always keep an eye on her, Greyson.”
“I will, Dylan.”
As we were waiting for the princess to show herself, I asked myself, what the f**k have you signed up for?
Lola appeared at the doorway already wearing her oversized pink sweater and she tied up her hair into a bun. Dylan stood up and headed to his sister and grabbed her shoulders. “We should talk now, sister.”
“Oh, okay.” They went to the living room, leaving me alone in the dining. I couldn’t hear them talking but I knew Dylan was trying to convince her to stay with me temporarily.
I drank my beer again and headed to where they were. Curiosity beat me. I landed my back on the wall without showing myself to the siblings, only listening to Dylan explained everything to his sister.
This could be my ticket to Heaven and Hell.
Heaven, because I could see her every day.
Hell, because I had to hold myself back.
But when she said, “Okay,” I smirked.
I could taste both Heaven and Hell right now as I drank my beer again.
