It was times like this that I was thankful for soundproof walls. It was a thing in the packhouse and in most homes in the territory. The best way I can explain it is that no one wants to hear two wolves going at it. I was still a virgin, but the Beta’s son was not, although we’re the same age.
We had been making out and spending time together a lot lately. I hoped he was my mate. Something just had us bonded in a way I hadn’t felt before.
Giorgio was snoring like a bear. I watched him, not wanting to wake him up. His dad had been making him train so much, it was ridiculous. Since his older brother was next in line to become Beta, he would be a warrior for our pack. He was tired all the time now. He said it was worth it.
I sighed. I would have to get him out of my room before my parents returned from town. Christian’s 18th birthday celebration was tomorrow and the packhouse was buzzing with people in and out. Everyone was losing their minds over making this a perfect celebration. I loved my brother, don’t get me wrong, but all of this attention was not deserved.
For one, he was convinced that girl was his mate. He even gave strict instructions to the pack to leave her alone. Seriously?! He went out of his way to tell me that if I continued to pick on her, there would be consequences. He also disrespected our mother. I have been so disgusted by his behavior. He needs to get his priorities straight.
“Knock, knock!” I almost jumped out of my skin. It sucked that mom didn’t think I could take care of myself. She always had that old haggish omega watching over me like I’m a child.
I slowly got up, glancing back at Giorgio. I opened my door just enough. Darcy was standing with her hands on her hips.
“You should not have a locked door, young lady. You know the rules.”
I held back the scoff by biting my tongue.
“Sorry. Won’t happen again.” I tried closing the door, but she put her foot in the small crack.
“That Beta boy needs to be gone before the Alpha and Luna return.” She spoke in a low voice and gave me a disapproving look.
I’m sure my cheeks were turning red. She must have picked up his scent.
“Ok.”
She walked down the hall, humming to herself.
I quickly closed the door and released a breath.
“Everything ok, babygirl?”
“Yeah. Darcy knows you’re in here though.”
“Holy s**t!” He leaped out of my bed and smoothed his clothes out. “Is she going to tell our parents?”
“No, she won’t. But she will keep a closer eye on both of us.” I rolled my eyes.
“Great. That’s just what I need.” He threw his hands up.
“It’s not that bad.” I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his waist.
He pulled away and took quick steps toward the door.
“Wait, Giorgio. Just a few more minutes. I haven’t seen you much since you started training.” I pouted.
“Some other time.” He didn’t look at me, but rather grumbled over his shoulder. I frowned.
“Giorgio—“
“I said some other time!” He growled.
“Jeez! What’s biting you?”
He turned and glared at me.
“Look, I’m already on thin ice. I can’t get in trouble for sneaking around with the Alpha’s daughter. You may be able to get away with anything by batting your eyelashes and playing innocent, but I have certain standards I have to live by. This isn’t cool.”
“I didn’t force you to come to my room! You could’ve stayed on the Beta floor, you know. The floor beneath the Alpha floor. You’re beneath me. I can do so much better than you anyway!” I folded my arms and huffed.
Giorgio didn’t say anything else. He left and slammed my door behind him.
“ARGHH!” I threw myself on my bed and put my face in my pillow. I hate boys. They’re all stupid.

“I like the red dress. It’ll match my outfit.”
Trinity tilted her head as she examined her frame in the mirror.
“I don’t know. It seems a little… sexy?”
I chuckled.
“Is that bad?” She looked so good, Maceo was howling in the back of my mind.
“I mean, I guess not. I just don’t want to draw in too much attention.” She twirled to look at her backside and her eyes widened.
I laughed.
My mom returned with two more dresses. She quietly handed them to Trinity. I must say, my mom was actually trying to be a decent person. She still refused to speak to me, but she was cordial. She paused for a moment to give Trinity a once-over, then smiled slightly and turned to go stand with dad at the front of the boutique.
“She’ll warm up eventually. I’m surprised she’s even cooperating now.”
Trinity shrugged and went back to the dressing room to try on one of the other dresses. After about 15 minutes, we both agreed on a maroon-colored dress and a pair of gold heels, which she wore out of the store to break them in.
“What about make-up?”
“I don’t wear it. Lipgloss or lipstick is all you’re getting.”
I heard my dad chuckle. My mom tried to hold back a grin, but I saw it from the backseat.
“I do need to decide what to do with my hair.” She pursed her lips.
“Wear it down. I like your hair down.”
Trinity blushed and tucked a few strands behind her ear.
“She’s gorgeous. I love mate already.”
“I think I do too.”
I watched her carefully as she looked down at the new phone my dad had bought for her. She was creating an email account. Her frown was even cute.
“Need some help?”
She glanced up.
“Uh, no. I think I get it.” She went back to frowning at the phone screen.
“Son, I’m proud of you.”
“Why?” I linked my dad back, honestly confused.
“For standing your ground and taking up for your mate. It’s honorable.”
I looked up at the rearview mirror and saw him smile at me before his eyes were on the road again.
“Thanks, dad.”
