Rosabelle's POV- "My fellow friends and... foe, I'm here again to speak about the occasion you already know of and are present to witness it. I know it's boring but I'm known to make it entertaining. First of all though, I'd like to pay my respects to the King." The speaker says in a carefree tone before bowing dramatically in front of the King. "He is the Speaker for the Royals my Queen. He never fails in expressing others feelings about an occasion. Apparently, when the speakers were busy perfecting themselves, he spoke with what he feels. He could understand which event made people anxious, curious, agitated or just happy to attend. And our former King appointed him as the speaker for only Royals." One of the maid steps up and says with a smile. "I don't think Dargan is fond of him." I say amused and she fumbles with her fingers. "Our King doesn't seem to like this fooling around. But please let us know my Queen. Do you not like our speaker?" Another maid steps up and says making me look back at the speaker. "... like a fish pulls up ugly faces when kept out of the water, and like a baby who yearns for his mama's breasts, our enemies tremble before the great swordsman, Roald Fredini!" I laugh along with Nina at his choice of situations to show case Roald's bravery before turning back to the maids. "Well, he certainly has me hooked to his speech." I say making the first maid smile. "See, now you can take a breath of relief. Even the Queen likes your brother's talk." The second maid nudges the first one and I suddenly get interested in her. "What is your na—" "My Queen, he is welcoming you now!" Nina cuts me off mid-sentence and drifts my focus to the speaker again just when he finishes saying me name. "... Dargan. Well... I would have laid down my head for a beautiful woman like her at once." He says dramatically gaining all my attention. "I would never let her hands get dirty with my blood but would rather grace her with the gloves of the finest fabric to adore her hands. We have never seen her fight but we will today. This is the first most unexpected challenge we have seen after an ordinary man defeated the great King Louis Azganati in his human form. His defeat was confirmed but here he is now! So, I'd warn you before you judge our queen. Trust me, I saw our young warrior Roald Fredini sweating on my way here!" He whispers the last part which was obviously not meant to be a whisper as he made the whole world hear that and make them laugh. "So, without any delay and any pre-assumptions, let's start the fight with the permission of my good King." He says before bowing down to Dargan who simply nods his head. Typical him. It's time for me to go out in the crowd now but I feel like passing the praises for the speaker through his sister before going out. I turn back around only to find that the woman has vanished. I lean to ask the others about her when suddenly Nina grabs me by my elbow. "It's time! Go and don't get hurt!" She says before literally shoving me out of my hiding place. I control myself from stumbling and embarrassment before turning to glare at her. She might have realized she has pushed me hard because I caught her looking terrified with her hands over her lips and her shoulders pulled together. She is just too adorable for her own good. I focus on the crowd that is cheering for the fight. Of course it's a first to see a woman with no wolf fight one of the greatest swordsman. But I believe I know enough to defend myself just well. I look around the typical seating arrangement where farther the crowd of people get, the higher their seats rise, allowing them to see the combat without jumping over each other and boobing their head to the point it starts aching. I turn to my left to find my husband glaring at Roald. He seems to be warning him for being in his limits. When Roald finally turns to me, I raise an eyebrow at him and he quickly shakes his head. I give a look to Dargan who returns the favour. I trace my fingers on the crystal lace around my waist before pulling out my sword. I wear a complacent look as I show off my sword different from any one else. My sword has a zig zag pattern towards its peak referring to thunder. Roald pulls put his shining sword and rotates it around his wrist showing off his skill while giving me a friendly smirk. We circle each other while focusing our eyes into one another's. "Shouldn't we wait for the King to signal us?" He asks. "You are forgetting, I'm a queen of this Kingdom and I wait for no one's permission." I say and move smoothly to land my first strike. Roald dodges it and swings his sword to hit me while turning it to the side to prevent it pierce through and draw blood. I can only imagine what Dargan would do if he accidentally draws out my blood. Though his move was quick, I lock his sword with mine and push it away. We circle each other again and strike each other at the same time. I hold his sword up in the air before quickly ducking down and swinging it aiming for his waist. He sees it coming and flips back in the air making me impressed. I push myself ahead and strike against him that he defends from his sword from all the directions. I make him move backward with my strikes before he swings his sword downwards tangling it with mine. He gives me a smirk and I quickly rotate my sword using my other hand and the zig zag pattern locks his sword under mine. He sighs knowing I have turned my loss into my win and it's my time to smirk at him now. He tries to detangle his sword or rise both of our swords upward when I pull out my knife from its cover around my waistband and put it on his neck. The crowd gasps in amazement but I know better than to think this is my win. "Are you holding yourself, Roald?" I ask with anger visible in my voice. "Honestly no. I think I didn't expect you to fight like this. I like your sword too much that it is distracting me." He says and I smirk. "Shall I back away and give you another chance then?" I ask him smirking that he returns and before I know, he has pushed my hand holding the knife away from me and has hit my legs with his own making me fall on the ground butt first. Both of our swords lay at my side with my knife on the other while he looks at me with a smug face. I try to get up along with my sword but he kicks both of them away and picks up my knife only to throw it away and it plunges itself in the sand in a way that it's pointy blade is out on top. He holds me by my shoulders while pushing me back but I stand my ground after two steps while holding his shoulders. I turn my wrists inwards and push his hands away from mine. I quickly duck and pick both of our swords before throwing his towards him. We both come to strike at each other at the same time again and our swords clink together making us grit our teeth as we put force to push each other. He pushes mine away and I bring it just in time to dodge away the hit aimed to my leg. I duck and swing my sword aiming for his calf but he jumps and strikes me from above while I hold my sword upward while still bent on the ground. It's hard to hold him away as he is standig and I'm sitting but I hold him preety well before swinging my one leg, hitting his and making him stumble that gives me time to stand up again. I hear the crowd going wild and I jump in the air and turn while at the same time the striking him in his well armoured shoulder. He stumbles back and I suddenly lose the sight of the Roald that has become my friend in these past days. Rather, I see a furious man whose ego has just been hurt. He grunts and strikes at me with a full force making my eyes wide at his sudden change in behaviour. But I manage to step aside just in time but he quickly swings the sword aiming directly for my head and I quickly duck down. He lifts his arms to strike me again and I tangle his sword with mine yet again. "What's wrong?" I ask him and his furious features suddenly changes to friendly ones once again that seems odd but I decide to ignore it. "Just wanted to worry the Alpha." He says and then wink. I look over to Dargan and certainly he is sitting at the edge of his seat while glaring at Roald. I smile but at the next second, I gasp as I feel myself hit the floor yet again. As Roald moves to put his sword on my neck, I tangle my sword with his yet again and pull him over me but not before rolling to the side so that he falls face first. I smirk and he growls. We both jump back up and strike back and forth. I feel sweat covering my face but I still have the strength to fight him. We move around in the whole area with him succeeding and making me step back until I finally get the hold of his game and strike him standing my ground. We follow the offence and defence pattern with sword until he suddenly ducks, pushes my sword away and throws a punch at my stomach making me fall yet again. But this time, I do not fall as he wraps his hand around my waist and saves me from falling while at the same time Dargan growls out loud. I look at him before back at Roald who is so close to me in this position as he is holding me by my waist while his other hand holds his sword. "Why?" I'm sure we could fight longer. "You could've just got yourself killed." He whispers, his breath fanning my face and I frown not understanding him. He leans closer to me making my breath hitch and looks down on the ground from over my shoulder. I follow his gaze and turn to look down only to have my lips parted in surprise. My head, or most specifically, the back of my neck is straight in the line with my knife that Roald had thrown away. If I had mistakenly fallen down, this knife would've been pointing out through my neck right now with my blood decorating its mightiness. I gulp down looking at him as he looks at me with a confident look before a hand wraps around my waist and Roald is pushed away harshly. I blink and I'm thrusted into a hard chest that rumbles with the growl. "Stay away from her!" Dargan growls at Roald who is standing back up after being pushed harshly to the ground. "He saved me Dargan." I whisper to him while still sticked to him. Dargan responses me with a growl as well before I drag my hands upwards and caress his cheeks loving the feeling of my body still attached to his. He continues glaring at Roald and I dig my fingers at the side of his neck and force him to look at me. His eyes matches mine and I feel tremble travel through my body. "He saved me." I say rubbing my thumb over his cheeks. "He put that knife there in the first place." He says coldly. "He didn't know before we'd end up in this situation." I say making him calm before turning to look at Roald, mostly because I couldn't continue looking at him. His gaze was just too intense, so I turn within his embrace. "Thanks, Roald." I say and try to move forward to shake his hand but the arm around me tightens and I'm pulled back. "Of course, Queen. The combat was to prove yourself worthy not get killed." He says with amusement and I smile at him before he suddenly lowers his head well aware of Dargan. "I owe you, Roald. I'm in debt to you." I say and Roald only bows before taking his leave. I sigh and turn to Dargan again. "I lost." I say wanting to hear his reply. Wanting to know if he'd be mean to me and say something to hurt me and make me see my place or he'd appreciate me. I want to know if he indeed feels at least something for me. I want to know if his mother suspected right and if he really is affectioante towards me. "I don't think you've lost. Look around. You have won thier hearts." He says and I look around to the people cheering loudly for me, for their queen and my lips stretch in a beuatiful genuine smile. Indeed I have won their hearts.
