Alena’s P.O.V
I was dreading it as I made my way to the conference room for the meeting. I knew Ryker was going to be there. I do not really wanna see him after earlier. I sighed as I headed in. I was surprised to see Ryker was already there. He looked rough. I do not know how he can do that to himself. I headed over to my usual seat when we were in meetings.
“They were already there when we came in. They have your name on them.” Natalie said.
She was referring to the exceptionally beautiful, very expensive looking bouquet of flowers sitting on the desk. Who are those from? I took the car out, opening but all it said was my name on it. No message, no one’s name signed on it.
“Any idea who dropped them off?” I asked confused.
“Not at all. Maybe you have a secret admirer.” She smiled.
“Hmm, maybe.” I said finding it all a little strange.
I smiled as I admired them. They really were beautiful. I sat them aside, letting the meeting getting started.
“Our first stop is Las Vegas for the opening show. You have three nights to do there. We will head down the night before the first show. We will drive down on the tour buses.” Natalie said, “We are going to use the tour buses for most of the US leg of the tour. The odd time we will need to get flights.” She added.
This would be a new experience for me, living on a tour bus. Will be interesting. Something different.
“What is the set up for the buses?” Ryker asked.
“Just the same as always. Alena will go on the bus with you, that way she can capture that side of things too.” Natalie said.
I need to share a tour bus with Ryker. I do not know what I think about that. Yes, he is an asshole but that does not stop me being attracted to him.
“Yeah, that would be fine.” Ryker said, looking at me.
“Are you OK with that?” Natalie asked me.
“Yes. It will help me do the best work possible.” I smiled.
I was not over the moon about it, but it would help me capture more intimate and normal moments. I need to make sure I do this right or I will be out of a job. I cannot afford to be out of a job after quitting my other one. We went through everything that needed to be said.
“Well everyone, that is everything. Make sure you all get well rested cause it is gonna be a busy few months for everyone.” Natalie said.
Everyone was quick to come and leave, especially Ryker. I said goodbye to Natalie before she headed off. I was the last one to leave, making sure to take the flowers. Who they were from was going to annoy me for days? I sighed, heading out. I headed down to my car, finding Ryker standing against it. Is he here for round two? He smiled at me when he saw me coming. Hmm, maybe he was not after round two?
“Hey,” He said nervously as I got closer.
“Hey,” I said rocking on my heels a little.
“Did you like them?” he asked rubbing the back of his neck.
“Uh?” I asked confused.
He nodded to the flowers. Wait? They are from him? Surely not?
“Yes, they are very beautiful.” I said.
I never wanted to say too much in case I was getting the wrong idea.
“I wasn’t sure what you liked. That is why there is a mixture.” He said.
There are from him. Oh, he was the last person I expected them to be from. I feel my cheek and neck heat up.
“Thank you but why?” I asked looking at him.
“My way of saying sorry. I had no right acting the way I did earlier.” He said.
“You never had to. I overstepped my mark.” I said, “There are very beautiful though.” I added.
“I just don’t do well with people being concerned.” He said through a sharp breath “It isn’t something I ever really had growing up, people that cared.” He added, looking away from me.
I think he was finding this a little hard opening up, even just a little.
“I am sorry you never had that growing up.” I said.
“I got over it.” He shrugged.
I sensed he never wanted to talk about it anymore. I looked around, to see if his car was around. Thankfully not especially cause he still is not completely sober from whatever he has been taking the last few days.
“Are you heading home?” I asked, Ryker nodding, “You want a lift?” I added.
“If you don’t mind?” he asked,
“Not at all, jump in.” I smiled, unlocking the car.
I sat the flowers on the backseat as Ryker climbed into the front. I climbed into the driver’s seat, asking for his address. I started the car, getting us on the road. A silence fell between us for the first ten minutes. Ryker looking like he was ready to crash out.
“Are you sure you are OK sharing the tour bus with me? You are going to be the only female on the bus, except the driver.” He asked.
The only girl? That should be interesting. A bus with guys. They better not be messy. I do not handle messy well. I have slight OCD when it comes to things like a mess.
“I am sure it will be fine. You better not all be messy?” I laughed.
“Actually, we are not too bad.” He chuckled.
“Good cause I don’t do mess.” I giggled.
“We will try to be on our best behaviour.” He said holding his hands up.
“OK, I will take that.” I said.
“And do not worry, these buses are a good size…you can have the bunks that are only two, us guys will take the other ones closer together.” He said.
I smiled and nodded. I liked knowing that. It would save me having to sleep in amongst guys. A silence fell between us again, Ryker soon falling asleep as we drove. I sighed to myself. I really hope he is careful when he goes on binges like he has been the last few days. I let him sleep, would wake him when we get there.
It took close to half an hour to get to his place. I was surprised when I saw where he stayed. I was expecting some big, fancy house but no. It seems to be an apartment building. Yes, it was high class and fancy, but now what I expected. I parked the car, shaking him gently.
“Ryker, we are here.” I said softly.
He groaned, taking a minute to wake up. He looked like crap when he did.
“Thank you for the lift.” He said rubbing his temples, “You wanna come up? For a coffee?” he added.
“Thank you for the offer, but I think what you need is sleep, Ryker.” I said.
“You are probably right.” He said, “I will see you around if not will see you when we leave for tour.” He added.
We said our goodbyes and I thanked him for the flowers again. I waited until he headed in, in case he passed out or something on the way. Once I knew he was in, I headed home myself. I would need to get organised. I can do that tomorrow. All I want now is to go home, get a bubble bath and a glass of wine. Relaxed for the rest of the day. I have a feeling I will not be doing much relaxing when this tour starts. I was excited about it, seeing all these new places, meeting new people. I was also nervous though. I do not know how I am gonna cope on the road. I will find out soon enough.
