“Hundred bags of Nicotine?” My gaze meets Jen for the second time again. “It’s seems their pleasing ways to a lady here is off the books.” I chuckle out, as Jen takes the couch in the mansion of Aurora fisher’s house.
“Well what can you expect from drug cartels?” Jan shoves her shoulders not even surprised by the presence of five million worth of hard drugs sitting in our presence. “And with what you pulled yesterday, you bet Romeo will stay still, cause even I asked myself if Aurora fisher is indeed real,” Jen laughs out loud as she completes her statement.
“I was that good huh?” I wiggle my eyebrows at Jen as she only chuckles more.
“I’ve told you Laura, this is not your field cause if you do take this talent down to be an actress, we’re looking at the next Davina Johnson.” Jen adds, while I chuckle lightly and take a seat next to her.
“Nah, Davina may be a good actress, but I don’t fancy her movies. I’m thinking more of Hillary stone.” I respond to Jen.
“Well whichever one it is, you do seem to be having Romeo around your grip to make him send a hundred bag of nicotine as a peace offering. Like dude, flowers are not just meant for the gardens.” I chuckle even more at Jen’s statement, before both our laughters begin to die down.
“Laura,” Jen calls my name solemnly as my gaze hits hers, feeling the words she is about to let out. “s**t is about to get real. Are you prepared for that?” Jen asks me. Seconds pass by and I still have no response to give to Jen, because as much as I do facade a brave face, I am scared shitless.
“Promise me something Jen.” I finally speak, giving Jen the same solemn look, while it’s her turn to remain silent. “No matter what happens, no matter the decisions I make, promise me you’ll do your job right.” I speak.
“What are you saying Laura…”
“Just promise me Jen. No matter how bad this goes, cause it will and we both know that, which is why I need you to keep in your mind that you will do what is right.” I add.
“And so would you.” Jen faces me squarely. “We’re in this together and you’re my partner. You don’t get to use that card here.” Jen counters my statement, while I can only nod and go mute, letting silence fill the room for a while.
“But he is hot in all honesty to admit,” Jen speaks passing me a smirk.
“Who? Romeo?” I squint my eyes trying to get Jen’s point with her statement.
“Well who else? You think I’m gonna say Holloway’s hot?” Jen defends and I chuckle loudly.
“But he is. They both are for the fact.” I tell Jen.
“But you prefer Romeo, cause he is a bad boy…”
“And I did leave anything relating to committing to a bad boy a long time ago.” I cut Jen off.
“Uhum, I hear you loud and clear.” Jen rolls her eyes making me to chuckle, while she takes out her phone which emits a vibration. As my chuckle dies so does my expression begin to go solemn while staring at Jen whom has her gaze fixed on her phone, reading something, clearly not pleasurable.
“What is it Jen?” I ask her, as when Jen’s eyes raise to meet mine, I see fear cascading them. “What happened? Who is that?” I further ask again, knowing whatever can make her demeanor to swift in an instance has to do with whatever she has seen on her phone.
Jen doesn’t speak a word, but hand me her phone, while I glance and read the message in it.
‘No matter where you are, I will always find you. You want to to know why? Cause you still remain my sweet, naive girl whom shivers under every touch of mine and would always need me.’
“Who is this from?” My blood begins to boil, at the sight of the unknown sender that creeps fear into Jen this much. Jen stares at me with her eyes demonstrating the hardness it is she feels inside of what the message has caused her, as when she takes her gaze away, a hard gulp down her throat follows suit.
“I…John doe didn’t just come to my home on his own.” Jen begins, while I listen. “I told you he was sent to implicate me.” Jen meets her gaze with me again.
“Yes, I recall perfectly.” I admit.
“We’ll, this is the person whom sent him. Jacob viloski.” Jen takes her eyes away from me as another gulp goes down by just the mention of the name she pronounced.
“Who is he? And what does he want with you?” I further asking Jen, for this is the only way I can help her.
“After I did what it is they asked me to. After what I did what Jacob asked me to and I was paid the fifteen grand, when in truth he was supposed to just pay me the twelve grand that I did request for, but since Jacob was the boss, he could do anything, such like increasing the payment.” Jen begins. “But he didn’t just do that as gratitude for what I did for him, but for the interest he had for Venice.” Jen says, as my expression becomes furrowed.
“I don’t understand. He wanted Venice? Why?” I question Jen perplexed.
“As what he said, he liked Venice.” Jen answers.
“How did he get fond of Venice to the extent of wanting her when she was always at the hospital?” I ask Jen again.
“Because he is in the Mafia Laura, and he did a background check on me when I agreed to do his bidding. In his own case, he said he was attracted to Venice and he didn’t know why.” Jen tells me, and I find myself letting out a sick scoff. “Months passed after Venice surgery was successful, but unfortunately, Venice didn’t heal like she was supposed to and we ended up going back to the hospital as this time they had to perform another surgery on her, cause her lungs were already affected and that wasn’t seen on time.
Till date I still find that baffling because, she was fine for months and all of a sudden she became sick again.” Jen locks her eyes with me.
“So I did what any big sister would do.” Her words beginning to deplete as she speaks, while tears begin to run through her eyes.
“What did you do Jen?” I ask Jen as even I stay in fear of what it is she is about to say.
“I went back to Jacob, begged him for money for Venice, but he refused. I pleaded and pleaded to him, but the only way he was willing to help was if I agreed to give him Venice once she was better or if I…” Jen’s wails grows louder, as her lips trembles and her tears cascade like waterfalls.
“That’s enough, you don’t have to say anything again.” I hold her hand in mine, as my own eyes fill with sympathy.
“No I have to tell you this Laura. I can’t keep it in anymore. Not again.” Jen insists while I nod to her to go on, and she regains herself to continue. “The other solution was if I was ready to lay in bed with him.” Jen eventually speaks as my grip on her hardens.
“f*****g asshole!…” I curse lightly as my own gaze harden.
“I did it.” Jen cuts me off, while my gaze releases on her. “What was I supposed to do? Venice would die, after all the trouble I went through to getting someone else in trouble, to think I wouldn’t do that for my sister? Well I didn’t mind. I slept with him again and again till he was satisfied…and eventually gave me the money to pay her bills.” Jen let’s out a loud cry and at this moment I knew what she went through, is nothing to what I can imagine.
“And to think that would even end it all, or think it would stop there!” Jen runs a hand through her hair as she takes me by surprise with her words again.
“What did he do to you again Jennifer?” I call out her full name as even I, remain disgusted at the actions of such a man.
“I…” Jen’s gaze meets mine as she stares at me vividly and hopelessly. “I became pregnant with his child.”
