All I was supposed to do was go to the damn house and make a dude named Jeff understand that he couldn’t be selling his s**t on our streets. We had gotten word that he was a new guy on the streets for the Ghouls. Selling s**t in our territory is a big f**k up because we don’t that around out women and children, we damn sure don’t want it on our streets. That’s all I had to do but no I had to let my d**k lead me around like a teenager seeing t**s for the first time.
I was walking around looking for this guy but then it was like a beacon in the night. I noticed her as soon as she walked in the house. Those red curls, the green dress that she had on looked perfect on her smooth creamy skin. She turned and looked around the room in search of something or someone and I saw into those green eyes of hers. She was in such a state she looked right over me, but I saw her! I looked right through her.
Come to find out her cheating “fiancé” that she was looking for was the Jeff that I was looking for. I didn’t get to threaten him about the drugs because before I knew it, he had his hands on her, and I saw red. Before I knew what I was doing I was in between and in his face for an entirely other reason than the one I came here for.
When I looked at her though all I saw was perfection and radiance. I saw her tears and that solidified this man’s death. I’m going to have to talk to Prez and let him know what happened. He won’t be happy, but I have a feeling ill be seeing him again and soon. When I looked down and saw her hand protectively over her stomach and his dumb ass expression all the pieces clicked. She was dressed up, she was obviously devastated by what she found upstairs, and from the look on her face she didn’t even get the chance to tell him. I saw my opening and I took it.
Little does she know that when I said that was my baby she was carrying, I solidified her future. She was mine the second I saw into those eyes. He said fiancé, but I see no ring on her finger. That leads me to believe that our friend Jeff is a cheap ass, or he is using her for all the things she has clearly been working hard for while he f***s off and does whatever he wants.
We looked into him. long term girlfriend, shitty high school grades till they dramatically improved most likely due to hazel, then college but not long before he dropped out, spotty work history nothing lasting over a few months here and there, then he was in maintenance at an elementary school. The same school his long-term girlfriend hazel works. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to put two and two together that she had gotten him the job. He lasted longer at this job than he did the other jobs even if his attendance was s**t. Then he was unemployed again. That’s when we saw the revenue spike. He got into bed with the Ghouls and was dealing but their account for the bills didn’t show any of that contribution. He was selling but he was turning right back around and snorting his cut back into his nose on the drugs he bought. There had been more traffic lately that flagged on our radar and that was when we pieced together that he was the new guy on the streets for them. He was doing just enough not to be noticed but we noticed. We don’t let that s**t slide here.
Before I knew it I was claiming the baby was mine, kissing her and punching him in the face. Oh, Prez is going to get a real kick out of this clusterfuck. The second my hand touched her skin, I knew. I knew it deep in my bones that this woman was mine and, in another lifetime, she was mine. Our souls had just wandered back to one another.
I take her to a small mom and pop diner here in town named Shake it up. they have the best food and town and mom and pop have been serving me since I was a rowdy ass teen, old enough to get into trouble. I don’t know their real name to be honest. I just call them mom and pop; they are the closest thing I got to a family besides the club.
“Well, hey there sugar, aren’t you a sight for sire eyes?” mom says to me as we take our seats in the furthest booth in the back that I have claimed as my own. I do it so I can watch over the whole place while I’m here. Mom and pop are damn good people.
“Hey mom, this here is hazel. What you got for us tonight?” I ask her with the best smile I have, one reserved only for her.
“me, my, aren’t you just as gorgeous as ever. How in the world did this ugly thing trick you into coming in here with him?” she asks Hazel.
As much as I want to protest she isn’t wrong. The scar on my face and the lack of pigment in my hair above the sight of the accident doesn’t exactly scream boy next door or GQ model, now does it.
“Oh, well, he actually helped me out tonight a lot.” She said in her sweet as sin voice. It’s husky but sweet and innocent. If I could compare it to anything it would be like draping silk across my skin and laying in it. f**k, I can’t get hard in front of mom here.
Pop hobbled on over to our table to make his introductions as well.
“Hey there son, feels like I haven’t seen you in ages!” he says to me as he claps his hand on my shoulder in a proud father-like vise.
“Pop I was just in here this morning for breakfast, someone has to feed me.” I said back to him.
“Well, it sure felt like forever ago. Maybe it’s because we didn’t see you for lunch.” He said.
At the he had mom and Hazel both laughing. I would give the world to these two people who took me in when I didn’t deserve the scraps off their plates.
“Oh, hush you. We need to get these kids something to eat. Our special is chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, white gravy, corn, and a roll. Now I know my boy here wants that but what about you honey?” she asks Hazel.
“Sounds wonderful. Can I get a sweet tea with that also?” she asks mom with a sweet smile on her face. God, those lips they are as softa as they look.
“a woman after my own heart. If you aren’t planning on marrying this one just let me know.” Pop said as he put the free hand that wasn’t on my shoulder over his heart.
Her eyes widened a bit in shock for a moment but then her and mom were laughing once again at pops antics.
“I sure can doll face. Same thing for you sugar?” mom asks me.
“You know me well.” I said to her in a wink. Then they were off and headed back to the counter.
Hazel fidgeted with her napkin on the table for a moment and when I noticed her eyes getting glassy, I reached across the table and wiped the one that had escaped off her cheek with my thumb. Her lips parted and she gasped quietly but I heard it. Don’t worry ma I feel it too.
“You wanna talk about it?” I asked her as I laid my hand on top of hers for reassurance.
“Not really, but kind of. I feel like I can trust you and I know that’s crazy because I don’t even know you. It’s just a feeling. I feel that I can trust you and talk to you. Is that crazy?” she asks in a rush.
Yep, she’s coming down from that shock and she is spiraling. “You can trust me, and you can talk to me. I wanna hear all about it and I wanna get that that sad ass look off your face before I go back and cause more damage then a broken nose.” I said to her in honesty, but her eyes widened and then she smiled at me. She was mine and if she didn’t have even the slightest of clues now, she would soon.
