Chapter 6 I became used to waiting. In the three months after I dealt with the judge, Reynolds sent me out on only two jobs—both of them on my own. The first one was easy. In, out, one man dead. I suspect he chose that one for me to make certain I didn’t freak and blow it—with no one backing me up to give me the encouragement I might need—that I was capable of pulling it off.
