Rex was extremely pissed. He was pissed at Eleanor and her home. He was pissed at himself for sleeping over at her house; something he has never done before. Like, he had never even slept at any of his wealthy friend's homes before. Yet, his body had betrayed him and he had slept at hers.
As he maneuvered his car through the driveway of his home, he snorted in anger at the encounter he had with her before he left.
"Well, I can just take the damn opportunity and fire her for incompetence. It's not like she'll be able to get to work before me in any case." He reminded himself.
He parked the car at its rightful place in between the Toyota Camri and the red Volvo and got out of the car.
"Good morning, sir." His driver greeted him, bowing slightly in front of him.
"Good morning to you too," Rex answered, taking a quick look at the man, and nodding in approval at the clean and well ironed shirt the man wore on jeans. "Get the Sienna car running. I'll be out in twenty minutes."
"Yes, boss." The man answered, nodding his head.
"Good morning, sir." His house workers all greeted him one after the other.
Rex nodded his head in response to their greetings as he made his way through the porch and straight into his mansion.
"Now, this is home." He told himself, taking in the perfect picture of his house.
His eyes stopped roaming about as they fell on a vase of flowers which had been moved from the right hand side he preferred to the left hand.
"Which one of you rearranged the cases without my order?!" He asked the two maids who became afraid immediately.
"It was… Edna, sir." The chubby one answered with fear.
"And who is that?" He asked. "You know what? Never mind that question. Just get her here right now." He commanded.
The chubby lady scurried away from him. In barely sixty seconds, she returned with another maid who was the complete opposite of her.
"And who gave you the audacity to touch those vases and flowers?" He raised his hands when she wanted to talk. "Just know that you ceased to work in this house from this moment on." He told her, ignoring the gasps of surprise that came from everyone present in the room. He walked away from them, making his way through the stairs, up to the master's bedroom.
"I hate incompetent people." He mumbled. "Which is the same reason why I would be sacking that Isabella secretary."
He began to undress himself, so he could go to the bathroom to soak himself in the tub filled with warm water. He was just about to open the adjacent door which led to the bathroom when his phone began to ring.
"Hey," he greeted the person on the other end of the phone.
"Hi, Rex. How are you?" The voice greeted.
"I'm good, man. And you?"
"Perfect as always." The man on the other end chuckled. "Anyway, I was just wondering if you have the time to spare for some closed party in the club."
Rex's hearing perked up at the mention of the club. He knew without a doubt that he would walk into the hotel a single man and walk out of there an engaged man with at least two women on either side of his arms.
"Sure, buddy." He answered very quickly.
"Good. Let's meet at Passion Clubhouse by 9 PM then." The man told him.
"Yeah, buddy. I'll be right there on time," Rex affirmed.
The line clicked and the call got disconnected. Rex dropped the phone back to his stand and smiled at himself in the mirror. With his naked body and the seductive smile he gave himself, he chuckled as he thought that he would have fallen hard for himself if he was a lady being tempted.
And yes, he was ready to continue tempting the ladies. The night at the club was no exception. Even if it wasn't in his agenda to seduce them, they always came to him voluntarily.
The fact that he was going there with Filo, the man who just called him to invite him to the club party, meant that there would be a minimum of eight women round their table once they were seated. Why? Because if Rex was the definition of a Greek god, then Filo was the perfect definition of Adonis. In essence, they were both walking sins.
He whistled as he made his way to the spacious and effortlessly clean bathroom. He ran the water in the tub, feeling the water with his hands and adjusting the temperature until it was at the degree he wanted. Once he was done with that, he got in ans soaked himself for more than thirty minutes.
Another thirty minutes and he was finally out of the house, dressed in black shirt, blue pants and suit, a red handkerchief in his chest pocket, and a matching red tie. He didn't need a mirror to tell him he looked good. The lustful looks and the soft moans he got from his maids were enough proof that he needed.
"Let's go." He ordered his driver, who had already started the engine, as soon as he saw him coming out of the house.
*******
One hour later, Eleanor ran into the office in her flat shoes, praying to all the gods ruling the universe that her boss was not yet around.
"And who the hell is chasing you?" Dennis questioned.
"The… Boss. Tell me…if he…he is here," Eleanor struggled to let the words out through shaky breaths.
She would hate it if she still lost her job after she had took her a quick bath that made her feel like she didn't bathe at all, run after a taxi and forcing the taxi man to go beyond the allowed speed limits which led to the man dropping her halfway because he claimed she was too troublesome, amd her running the remaining halfway to the office when she didjt get another taxi on time.
And as it stood, it seemed to her that the only way she wouldn't lose the job, at least not that day, was just to be at work before her boss. Even if she came in earlier than him with just two seconds, she knew it would still count as victory for her.
"And how does that bother you if I am already in the office or not?"
She heard her boss ask behind her and she turned around shocked. A wisp of her hair flowed along with her head and it stuck itself to her sweaty face.
"Boss!" She yelled out of shock.
"Good morning, sir," Dennis greeted Rex.
Rex nodded his head in greeting at Dennis. He turned back to Eleanor and shook his head in dismay at how unkempt she looked.
"Did no one tell you that you look like a homeless woman?" He asked her, eyeing her wrinkled dress. "I mean, don't you know what it means to do the right things?" He tsked at her.
"Sorry, sir," Eleanor told him.
And no, she wasn't angry with him because of what he said or even how harsh he sounded with her. Sometimes between the hours it took her to take her bath, dress up, and race to the office, she had come to a conclusion in her heart that no matter how harsh the almighty Rex seemed, he had a soft spot in his heart that he rarely showed to people.
One of those rare times he showed it was when he helped her home last night. Because of that single heart, her heart had softened towards him. While she was in the car, she had even managed to memorize his schedule for the next two days. Unless he asked her himself, she wouldn't give him a chance to find any error with her anymore.
"What's my schedule for tomorrow?" Rex asked her. He knew them all but he just wanted to use the opportunity to sack her.
"You have a meeting with the investors by 9 AM tomorrow. By 11, you and the Han group of companies have to sign that business deal. Then, you have a business lunch with the Japanese men you want to propose a business seal with by 12 PM. You're free from 2pm until 3 PM when you have to personally welcome the Nigeria shareholder. By 5 PM-"
"-Well, I guess that is enough!" Rex yelled at her.
Eleanor simply smiled at him, surprising her boss, before she turned and went straight to her desk.
Rex stood still for more than five minutes, watching as she went about her daily duty. Why had she smiled at him when instead she should be crying foul on his head for maltreating her? Also, how had she been able to memorize everything on his schedule list I such a short time?
"Well, I guess I better get to work." He walked straight to his office.
