1. THE BILLIONAIRE

THE BILLIONAIRE BRAD’S POV “You have to Marry Vanessa Carter if you want to bring The High End Group of Hotels down,” My dad advised me. He was so serious about this. “No dad, I can’t marry her. She can be in all the billboards of this town but still, I don’t like her,” I told my dad. “What is it with you Brody? That girl is so perfect. She has a good body, she looks so good and lastly she is the daughter of our biggest enemy. What is it with you?” My dad asked me. “Listen here dad, I will make The Grand Hotel great again, okay?” I tried to assure my old man. “That is what you have been saying for the past one year. You have to do something. We are in debt. Before we know it, we can lose our hotel,” My dad said this in a more serious tone.  “I know father. But please just give me one last chance,” I begged. I never beg, but with him, I have to. He is the only man that I fear after God. I am a ruthless and cold person. I believe in working hard. I don’t have the time to even smile and laugh with the people working for me. I want our family business to be great again. The Grand Hotel has been at the top of the game for ages till The High End group of Hotels come to the picture and took the title from us. We don’t get good deals anymore. More executive people who are ready to pour their millions of money to host them in our hotel have soon switched to The High End Hotel. We are running in loses. We are so much in debt and that is what my dad is worried about. “We are not going to have a discussion about this. Fiona, your personal assistant is going to set you up with Vanessa. You are handsome Brody. You have a perfect body, just like the way I was when I was at your age. You took after me, literally. I know that Vanessa will trip when she sees you and that way my son, you will get to know her more and more. You will get to know of their secrets and after that, we will crush them completely till they decide to shut down. Let is drink to that,” My dad said before we gulped down the fine wine I had just gotten him from Mexico this morning. I had gone there for a business trip and I figured that, that was the best gift to get him. “Dad, I have a plan.” I told him and I could see disappointment written all over his face. I could do this alone. I could bring our hotel back to the top. He just needs to give me time and I was going to do my best. Dating was not in my mind right now. Actually, I have never had time to date. I take that to be all bullshit and nonsense that makes someone waste their precious time. I could be working hard to get my next billion instead of wasting my time on vacations with the so called lover. Love is just a transaction and an excuse for people not to work. Love makes you lose focus. Love makes you waste your time texting and calling over bullshit. I was not meant for all those sorts of things. Mine is to work hard and ensure that our hotel is doing well. “You always say that…” My dad noted. “Come on dad, this time I have a plan.” I told him. “What plan?” He asked and I realized that I really had to think about a perfect plan. “Trust me on this dad, I promise you, I will not disappoint you,” I crossed my fingers after saying this. I really hoped that he was going to believe me. “Vanessa will help you win. Give her a chance,” My dad was still hesitant. “Give me three months and I promise to triple the profits. Trust me dad. I know you do. You did not take me to the best business school in the world so that I can fail our hotel company. You took me there to make profits. Tons of profits. I swear dad, in three months’ time, we are going to be at the top.” I assured my dad. “What if we don’t? I have heard this so many times,” He told me. “If we don’t, then you have every right to demote me as the CEO of The Grand Hotel. I will allow you to let the board of directors take over. I will step down dad.” I told him. “You have stepping down. I know that. This actually works. If you fail to bring the company to the top in three months’ time, then you will have to step down. You will not get the CEO privileges anymore. You will lose everything,” My dad warned me. “I agree. I have to leave now. I want to start working.” I told my dad before standing up to adjust my black tie. “Wow, I love the psyche. It is just three months son. One hundred and twenty days. The clock is ticking,” My dad told me after we shook hands. “Yes sir,” I nodded before taking my black briefcase. I had to get to work immediately. “Wow, you finished the meeting quite early, you still had one more hour with your dad,” My PA Fiona told me once I was out of my dad’s office. “What is on the schedule?” I was a man of a few words. I hardly laughed or joked about anything. I was a very serious person.  Now even more than ever, I was going to be so serious so as to bring our company back to the top. I could do this. I totally believed in myself. “You have a free one hour and after that, you will have two hours for lunch then later on, you can take a day off,” Fiona explained to me as we walked to the elevator. I was so pissed when I realized that she had comfortably arranged an off day for me. No, I can never stop working. I need to work twenty four seven to bring The Grand Hotel back to the top. “What did you just say?” I asked once she pressed the basement floor button once we were in the elevator. “You have a day off sir, you can use that time to enjoy yourself,” Fiona told my and I had to control the urge to punch her in the face. How dare she? Does she think that The Grand Hotel is a joke? We are slowly getting out of business and she wants me to rest? Is she even serious? “Shut up!” I yelled. “I am so sorry sir,” She was so quick to apologize. I would have fired her long ago. It is just that her family needs her. If she loses this job, then her family would be out there in the streets. The salary that she gets at The Grand Hotel is all that her family depends on. Her husband is a loser who doesn’t work. He is always at home, complaining and planning big but he barely does nothing. I feel bad for her two boys, who don’t get to see their mother all the time because she is always working around me to get that extra coin. This is the bullshit I was talking about. Then someone has the audacity to actually call it love. This is not love.  The husband is typically using her. If I were her, I would throw him out in the streets so that he can be a real man. “Fiona, I want you to set up a meeting with the rest of the staff,” I told her. I figured that if I wanted to bring the hotel to the top, I needed to work from the ground upwards. I needed to talk to every single person who works in this hotel so that they can know how important it really is to do their best. I cannot work alone to bring the hotel to the top. We need to work together to bring the hotel to the top. “Their bosses or all of them?” Fiona asked. “All of them!” I repeated in a harsh tone. “I am sorry sir, “She apologized. Get used to it. She apologizes all the damn time. My personal driver was waiting just outside the elevator. He got the door for me and I got inside my Range Rover. “Where are we going sir?” The driver asked me politely. “To the hotel silly. Where else?” I answered with a lot of attitude. I didn’t like silly questions. He really got to my nerves with the silliest of all questions. “I am so sorry sir.” He apologized. I didn’t care to answer. My focus was on reading the business magazine. I was going to take the world by storm, soon, everyone will be breaking their banks to spend a night at The Grand Hotel.
