"Alex, wake up, sweetie. Someone is here for you," says Mama. Argh! It's quite early. Who could be coming at this hour?
I tried opening my eyes, and looking at my alarm clock. It's 11 a.m. "s**t! I overslept! " I got out of my king-sized bed and rushed through the bathroom. I tried to have a quick shower, brush my teeth, and apply light makeup. What I bought back in Europa will do for now— just a lip tint and some smokey eye shadow will do for now.
I ran down the stairs from the fourth floor, where the Alpha's family stays, to the kitchen on the first floor. I was panting when I reached the kitchen. Without wasting another second, I fixed my posture. That was when I was hit by the smell of freshly baked baguettes and croissants. I turned towards the smell, and there I saw the slim figure of a girl standing in the corner of the kitchen with a tray of croissants and baguettes. I was walking towards the smell when...
"Alexandra, what are you doing there? Didn't I tell you someone is here for you!" Ma shouted at me before I could take another step. I just shrugged my shoulders and faced her. "Mama, who is it? Can't I have something to eat first before I see my guest?" I said this in irritation just to make a point.
"Your new professor is here. She is in the library already, " Ma said with pleading eyes. What happened? Why would my professor drop by our house in the first place? Well, anyway, I think I don't have much option but to introduce myself, right?
My name is Alexandra Jiménez, but you could call me Alex or Lex. I am a werewolf—an alpha-female for that matter. My father has been the Alpha of the Jade Moon Pack for as long as I can remember. Now I am about to become the next Alpha, as my Dad would say. Although I am still in junior high school, I know for a fact that I want to become the best alpha-female in the country. So what's up with the professor? Well, my mama thinks that I need to learn the basics of business even though I am still in junior high.
As the next Alpha, I should be equipped with everything I need to run my pack. It is not common for packs to have a female alpha, so Ma thought it would be good for me to learn as much as possible. They still think that the male alpha is stronger compared to the female, but papa and mama only had three beautiful girls. Papa thinks boys would be good alphas, but he doesn’t want to give his position to a stranger or an outsider, so he decided to make me the heir with one condition: that I study in a school for girls and be taught business as well.
My parents are a bit open-minded, unlike most of our pack members, but I am looking forward to proving myself to them.
The last professor I had only lasted two days. Let's just say I didn't like him, so I pulled a prank on him.
The whole pack house was in chaos that day trying to prepare for the barbecue night, and the professor and I were in the library. I made an excuse to have a bathroom break, but in reality I was just getting out to place my prank on the door. My entire strategy was to drench the professor in barbecue sauce as soon as he stepped outside for his lunch break. I already asked some of the omegas to give me a bucket of barbecue sauce and leave it in the powder room downstairs.
The prank was a success, and the professor was pissed as he was drenched in barbecue sauce. "I have never been humiliated like this in my entire teaching career! I quit!"
Now where were we? Ah, yes! I can't wait to see the look on her face when she realizes I'm not interested in learning. You see, I am able to learn things better from an actual situation than from books. As they say, nothing beats experience as a teacher or something like that.
I grabbed some croissants before going up to the library. You see, the pack house has four floors. The first floor is for everyone. You have the kitchen, living room, game room, and conference room. The second floor is for the guest rooms, the library, and the offices for the beta and gamma. The third floor is where my Dad's office is, and the rest of the space is shared by the beta's family and the gamma's family.
As I walked up the stairs, I was indulging on the croissant when my foot tripped and I rolled on my back, thumping the floor. I tried to stand, but my ankle hurts a lot. "Ma!" I shouted as loud as I could, but no one heard me. I shouted again, and this time a small figure ran downstairs. I thought it was my mom, but no.
I was mesmerized by the person standing in front of me. She has an angelic face and silky brown hair that falls just below her shoulders. She is about my height, at around 5'7", and has a sexy figure. I could not help but open my mouth in awe. "Are you alright?" she asked. Even her voice is angelic.
"I don't think so, because my ankle hurts when I try to stand."
"Just stay still, I will try to apply first aid to it." She then rushed to the kitchen to grab our first aid kit. I didn't know how she learned her way around the house. This is the first time I've seen her and already I think I have a crush on her. Oh no you don't, I kept on saying in my mind. You need to get up and get to the library, or else Mama will be pissed.
I was pulled out of my daydreaming when a sudden pain jolted through my foot. "Alright, there you go, it’s just a minor sprain, nothing to worry about. You will heal in a day or two," she said.
"How?"
"Oh right! I am Professor Brienne. Your mama asked me to help you with business subjects. Also, I am a volunteer in the community clinic, so there you have it."
"Wait, you're my professor? But you are as old as me!" I was taken aback; the girl in front of me was supposed to be my professor, but she appeared to be just another adolescent like me.
"Lesson number one in business: age is irrelevant as long as you know how to create a product and sell it"
"Well, I guess that's it for today. I don't think you can teach me when I have this injury, " I said as I smirked.
Mama suddenly appeared at the kitchen door, arms crossed, and with a stern look. "I thought you were already in the library? Why are you on the floor, mi amor? Are you alright? Let me take a look at it, " as she was saying this, she was walking fast to where I was with a concerned look on her face this time.
I tried to swallow back my explanation, as I was about to be reprimanded if she knew that I ate while going up the stairs. My mama is always teaching me how to be prim and proper. Where we should eat, how we should chew our food, and all the table manners, blah blah blah.
Prof. Brie let out a fake cough. "She will be fine. I already applied first aid. She just needs to rest. Maybe we can continue the lessons tomorrow."
"Yes, yes, that would be a good idea. Prof. Brie, thank you for helping my baby. I will call for your ride into town. Please wait on the patio." My mother was really nice to her.
"Ma, you are embarrassing me. Please stop calling me baby. I am a grown up already. " I stretch, saying Ma, like a cow with puppy dog eyes to emphasize my pleas.
All of a sudden, I felt a smack in my head. "Young lady, that is not the way you talk to me. You will always be my baby girl."
Brienne has already gone to the patio to avoid us.
Ma helped me get up to sit on the bench near the kitchen. She was telling the omegas to prepare the food for lunch while we went out to go to the clinic.
Lunch time is always at 12 o'clock in the pack house, and supper is at 6 p.m. Everything is scheduled and must be on time as papa would want it. He doesn’t like it when the schedules change at the last minute.
Papa is quite strict with rules and schedules, as any government official should be.
Ma was able to finish telling the omegas what to prepare. She was walking towards me when Meredith went downstairs.
She went straight to the sala, as we call it here in Filipinas. She didn’t bother to ask what happened to me; instead, she opened the book she was holding and started reading.
