Jan’s POV
“Wait!” I call out to the group as soon as I exit the clinic. They had only gotten halfway down the block, so when they heard me shout they all stopped and waited for me to catch up to them.
“Did my brother say anything to upset you?” Victor asked, searching my face for signs of distress as soon as I reached them. I tried to make my features look as calm and natural as I could.
“No, he didn’t say anything to me at all,” I sort of lied. Theo had mentioned the lack of feeling in his hand, and I actually did hear Theo’s soft little apology as I ran off. Basically I had freaked out about him bursting into tears like that, when all I did was touch his hand. It was not what I had expected from Theo at all. “I just changed my mind about staying any longer.”
