Izzy’s POV I leave Prince Elias to take his nap, and head back to the library with Gavin, who silently plays chess against me while I think about what little I’ve learned about Eli so far. It certainly wasn’t much. I find it very telling that Eli didn’t want to confide in me the circumstances of his failed mate bond. It’s very clear that he knows who his fated mate is, although I gather that it must have hurt him terribly. And it seems odd that it was something that was considered to be ‘done for the good of the country’. Although, I suppose if I had known who my fated mate was and for some reason I was rejected because I wasn’t deemed good enough, I might feel very hurt as well, and not feel like discussing it with a stranger.
