Pushing open the door of Dad’s office, the sight of Chris next to Dad with a smirk on his face and Dad fuming with rage dumbfounded me. Dad was clearly furious that I had betrayed him with my multitude of lies and that I hid the fact that I had finally found my mate. Mom and Dad highly respected the mate bond and believed that a wolf’s life depended on it. As for my lies, I had never lied to Dad before Chris came into my life. But, to be honest, I wasn’t sure about the reasons Dad was angry or if he knew the whole story. However, that didn’t push away my disappointment and anger when Chris came to the packhouse looking for me.
