Chapter 6

Standing upstairs in Renesmee's bedroom I supervised her while she packed her traveling case. Whenever we went somewhere she always tried to take unneeded things with her. Things that she would end up not using. I watched as Renesmee walked across the room and grabbed her photo album, containing over 100 photos that she took herself, and trekked back over to her suitcase innocently. Keeping her gaze away from me she put it casually in her case. A few seconds later she glanced up at me and smiled sweetly. For a few moments as I melted under her beautiful chocolate gaze I almost considered allowing her to take the album. Then my parental instincts took over. With my crooked grin I shook my head slightly. Renesmee challenged my response with a pout but in the end I held firm and watched her replace the album back in its proper place. The door opened and in came Bella. "How are we doing with the packing?" She asked Renesmee. In her mind I saw a plan to manipulate Bella into overruling my decision formulate. She glanced momentarily in my direction and then the plan disintegrated almost instantaneously. Good she was learning to accept the answer no. As she aged mentally that one aspect of her personality never fully matured simply because Bella and myself rarely said no. "It's going good." I responded as Bella crossed the room and wrapped her arms around my waist. "The plane leaves in two hours so we should leave soon." Bella added. "Don't worry mommy we won't be late. I'm done." Renesmee said cheerfully. "Perfect." Bella replied as she zipped up her suitcase and lifted it effortlessly. We headed downstairs and out the door. Just as I made it to the truck and began loading our luggage up I caught sight of Alice's vision. I inhaled sharply as I whipped around to face the forest. Just then a boy and a girl, both blonde, burst forth into the clearing. The boy was tall and muscular like Emmett. From his look he had to be around our age. This boy was cradling in his arms the blonde girl. She had a heart beat so she was definitely human. The girl looked to be no older then twelve and her thoughts suggested the same. She cowered into the males chest. "More friends!" Renesmee said happily. She started to run over to greet them but Bella quickly grabbed her."Are they friendly?" Bella asked. I gazed into their minds and saw that they were here to help. Looking at Bella I nodded my head. Bella released Renesmee and patted her gently on the shoulders to let her know it was okay. Smiling happily Renesmee headed over to them, making each step an elegant skip. The blonde male ran over towards the porch where Zelda and her sisters were. When he was about seven meters away he stopped and set the young girl to her feet. She immediately moved to stand behind him. The boy looked at Zelda and a grin crossed his face as he held out his arms. "Hey Z did ya miss me?" The blonde boy said. Zelda turned to face him and in a half a second bitterness grew heavily in her expression. Rhiannon and Samara joined Zelda's flanks. All of them looking angered at our new company. "What are you doing here Ethan and why did you bring her!" Zelda snapped. "You are unwelcome!" Rhiannon added. "You betrayed us!" Zelda raged on as she took several steps forward. My eyes flickered towards my daughter who was ignorant to the hostility rising. "Renesmee." Bella whispered as she gripped my hand. "Renesmee!" She repeated, but louder. Renesmee stopped in her tracks and turned around to face us. Bella let out a breath of relief and walked over towards Renesmee. Then I heard Zelda let out an angry growl before running forward and tackling Ethan to the ground. They landed inches from the human girl causing a body shaped pothole to form. Racing forward I lifted the child into my arms and moved her out of harms way. The moment I moved her the two landed exactly where she had been. I retreated back towards the truck where Bella had Renesmee and watched. Zelda's sisters soon joined in and the battle turned to an unfair one, three against one. Still they twisted, flipped, jumped, bit, but Ethan still had the upper hand. They soon grabbed the attention of the other inhabitants of our property. Emmett seemed to want to jump in the middle but Rosalie's glare and firm grip kept him behaving. As I continued watching the four fight I assessed that with Ethan's strength and skill he could have easily won this fight. Only he wasn't fighting to harm the girls he was fighting to keep from being overpowered. After an hour of this he finally knocked both Samara and Rhiannon back so hard they had to take a few seconds to recuperate. This gave him the opportunity to pin Zelda. With his muscular arm at her throat and his weight on her body he glared into her face. "I didn't betray you." He growled. Zelda screamed again, slightly struggling against his hold. "You did you did! You left me with our family dying at our feet for that girl!" She hissed several times. "So many of us died that day. My baby sister, my foster sisters and brothers. My best friend betrayed me for a girl, a random girl." Ethan's expression softened. "That girl was my sister. I took her away so she wouldn't have to see what you had to see. What you had to go through I'm sorry but I had to protect her." After Ethan had finished speaking he let up on Zelda, raising to his feet. He looked around quickly before he spotted his sister in my protection and then jogged over to my side. "Thank you for helping my sister." He said as he took her back into his arms. "I heard rumors going around about an uprising against the Volturi and thought I could lend a hand." He added. "Word gets around in the vampire community." I said simply. Ethan nodded his head. "I subscribe to the vampire community newsletter. I get all the latest news on best animals to hunt, fastest cars, vampire fashion, uprisings against the law." He said sarcastically. I couldn't help but laugh at this as I brought Bella to my side. Only then did I realize Renesmee was gone. "Where is Renesmee?" I asked as I looked around quickly. "She was just here-" "Jake took her inside, she was bothered by the violence." Bella reassures me. "What is a Renesmee?" Ethan asked curiously. "Renesmee is our daughter, she is special." Bella responded. "An immortal?" He question. I quickly shook my head. "She is a hybrid child. She was conceived, carried and birthed by my wife Bella while she was human. This was a few months ago, times have changed." Speaking of time. I glanced down at my watch and saw that the time for our flight was just minutes away. We would never make it in time. "We are late." Bella said. I nodded my head. "Unfortunately. But we can get tickets for tomorrow unless you want to drive down." Bella sighed. "Tomorrow is better. Renesmee has never flown before so I don't want to put her on an airplane while she is stressed out she would have a breakdown." True. First time flyers always got nervous and overwhelmed. The flight from Denali to forks was over five hours total. It would be too much for her after the recent events. From the corner of my eye I saw the girl move her hand. "What is it Gracie?" Ethan asked. I turned my head and watched as she lifted her hand to her mouth. She was hungry. Ethan looked up at me. "You wouldn't happen to have any human food here would you?" "Of course, we have four mouths to feed on a daily basis so we make sure we are stocked tight." Bella responded. "I can take her inside if you'd like and get her settled in." Ethan placed Gracie's into Bella's and I watched them walk towards the house. We followed thirty steps behind chatting about the lust he had for his sisters blood. He explained that the moment he had waken he started caring for his sister. After wanting to kill her several times he finally managed to get his lust under control. Only, like myself, it was agony every second he was around her and still is. Entering the house I followed Ethan to the kitchen where a large meal was laid out along the table. Sitting around it eating was Penelope, Matthew, Renesmee, Jacob and Gracie. Renesmee looked up and smiled. "Hello! I'm Renesmee what is your name?" Ethan's head turned quickly towards Renesmee. He smiled. "I'm Ethan and that's Gracie." He said introducing himself and his sister. Ethan began making his way through the crowd to his sisters side. As he was passing by Alice his shoulder brushed up against her. Simultaneously they gasped before Alice's eyes glazed over. As I dropped in on her vision it seemed like it was echoing itself which was odd. Only after a few seconds did I understand that it wasn't echoing. Ethan was sharing Alice's vision, but how? After Alice's vision ended Ethan looked around the room with a confused expression. "What was that? I just saw-" Ethan began before Alice clapped her hand over his mouth. "Don't, not here." She spoke brashly. He looked over to me and I gave a slight shake of my head. This wasn't the place nor the time to discuss something as complicated as that. We didn't need that complicating the already difficult situation we were in. If he was to speak I'm confident that half out man power would be gone. We needed every muscle we could get.
