“I think it’s safe for me to take over,” Beau said from the back seat of the car, as he sat up. “Pull over somewhere.”
It was almost midnight, they’d passed the outskirts of the city, heading east, and were now in what looked like farm country. Rick turned onto a narrow side road, coming to a stop, and Beau got out.
“We’ll switch places, so you can get some sleep,” Beau suggested.
“I’m not tired.”
Beau gave him a look, replying, “Don’t argue. My bet is, the second you lay down you’ll be out like a light.”
