Daisy
I had to slap my face to check if I was in some kind of delusional dream. Date... With Marcus Kane... No! This can't be a real date!it must be because he needs to create the image that we are a real couple in love... f**k! I haven't asked where are we going and what time!!! Should I knock and ask? Or write and email? Maybe a message? Should I just Google it "What to do if your boss, who you have been head over heels for years, suddenly asks you on a maybe fake date?" - I laughed out loud at this thought. - If there would be a match for this question I'd walk around barefoot today. - Honestly, I didn't dare to check. There were so many freaking things on the Internet nowadays that I probably would have found something weird. I tried to focus on work but as the afternoon approached I became more and more nervous. The end of my working hours arrived and by then I've gathered enough courage to knock on Marcus's door. This is not a big deal. We must make things clear. Marcus opened the door and I felt my cheek getting warmer. No please don't blush. Think about anything else but his blue eyes and sharp jawline. Oh yes! Dylan, Dylan, Dylan. - that helped. Only imagining that i***t made my heart stop racing.
- Mr. Kane, I'd like to check our schedule for tonight. Where should we meet? Is there any dress code I should keep in mind? - Marcus looked a bit shocked. Didn't he even find out where to go? Yeah, this is probably a fake date. Hundred percent fake. Despite knowing the obvious, my heart shrunk a bit until Marcus cleared his throat.
- Put on some nice, consolidated dress, I'll pick you up at eight. Be punctual because we have tickets to the Opera. - I felt my jaw dropped and Marcus giggled a bit while be gently closed my mouth by lifting my chin.
- See you tonight, Babybee!- he said and walked past me. That was my end. I blushed like a fresh tomato and Max just shook his head when he saw my expression and followed Marcus to the elevator.
- Aren't you coming too Daisy? - Marcus asked and I turned around.
- Yeah, I'm coming too! - I ran to my desk and grabbed my bag hurrying to the elevator. The door was held open by Marcus and I had to dodge under his arm. We didn't say anything on our ride down and I rushed to the subway to get ready, since I had only 2 hours before our date and I also had to arrive home, choose a dress, wash my hair, do my makeup. I was already on the subway when I realized. Shit... I've never been to the Opera. I searched quickly for what to wear and also the etiquette that could be expected at a place like this. My stomach crumbled and I stopped quickly by a convenience store and bought some red bean pasta bread and a bottle of juice, I ate it while running home and once I've arrived I started getting ready.
Marcus
Daisy stood in front of me so nervously and shy that I couldn't look at her for long. She seemed adorable and interesting. I wanted to tease her so when her jaw dropped I had to act like a real charmer. We were already in the car heading home when Max said.
- Dude... Do you even have tickets to the Opera? I mean, is there any play today? - Ops... That's a little detail I've forgotten about. I wanted to make Daisy uncomfortable so badly that I forgot to really check these things. Usually she was the one arranging the legal calendar and my other businesses didn't require that much of organizing. I pulled my phone and called a friend of mine, who owned me a lot.
- Marcus sweetheart! It's been ages since I've heard from you! - her voice sounded like soft chirping of the birds.
- Good evening Vilma! I've been doing well. How about you? - she giggled.
- Good as ever my sweetheart! But let's cut the crap, what can I do for my dear Patron? - I smiled. Vilma knew exactly what to say and what to do. She was a struggling Opera singer when we met and her ex boyfriend was part of a rival family. But since he stole her money and hurt her, Vilma didn't hesitate to snitch him to me in return she asked for protection only. To show her my generosity, I've helped her carrier and in return, she gave me information regarding the elite of New York.
- This is a personal request Vilma, I'd need two tickets for tonight.
- Oh you lucky dog! I have two spare tickets to the pavilion! And who is the lucky lady that you are bringing with you?
- What makes you think that I'll go woth a woman? - Vilma chuckled.
- You might be all high and mighty in your businesses, but when it comes to the business of heart, my friend, you are lost as a blind donkey in the dark! - I had to admit that she was right so she handed me the tickets. But I didn't tell her who I'm bringing that night.
- No biggie! I'll see her anyway! See you tonight sweetheart! - I heard Vilma blowing a kiss to the phone before hanging in up.
- I know I told you to ask what happened.. But isn't this a bit too much? - Max asked and I crossed my arms in front of my chest.
- Not at all, you were right earlier. I must get to know Daisy better to be a convincing couple. Also, my parents dogs can take some nice pictures for the old man to rant about. - I saw a brief grin on the corner of Max's mouth. He loved to see my father pissed since we were young. After arriving home and getting ready, I drove to Daisy's place and just when I parked the car remembered. I should've brought at least a rose or something. No. This is not a real date and she knows it as well. I looked at my phone to see the time and it was eight o'clock but Daisy wasn't in the door yet. I told her not to be late... Just when I walked to the main door of her building to ring her bell, the door swung open and a screaming, angry Daisy stormed out of it followed by a tall tanned man.
- DYLAN! I TOLD YOU THIS MORNING TO f**k OFF! I have no time for this stupidity of yours! - She said and the guy she called Dylan grabbed her wrist.
- I told you we need to talk! For whom did you dress up like this?! Are you cheating on me?!
- CHEATING?! We broke up a year ago! I won't warn you anymore! - I was about to walk there and help Daisy out when Dylan got a punch into his stomach, a hit at the side of his neck and got threw over Daisy's shoulder falling directly into a trash can.
- Stay where you belong! - she said and Dylan only whimpered something before he got unconscious. Daisy didn't notice that I was standing there the whole time, she picked a tiny mirror from her purse and fixed her hair. Suddenly she squeaked and jumped a little in space. Daisy turned around and her eyes were big as a saucer plate.
- How long have you been there? - she asked and I chuckled.
- Long enough to forgive you for being late. - I walked to the car and opened the door. Daisy got in nervously and on our way to the Opera I've asked.
- What was this about? - she looked angry and nervous at the same time. While she looked out of the window she squeezed the answer through her teeth.
- I have no idea! This i***t appeared this morning saying that he misses me.
- So that's why you were so disturbed this morning. Why didn't you tell me when I asked if you were fine? - I glanced at her and caught her gaze on me.
- I didn't think you were interested in my personal life Mr. Kane. As I clearly know that this is date is for the sake of our agreement. - I've nodded, although after spending some time with Daisy and observing her more, I started to doubt this.
