Daisy
I watched Marcus walking away with his father and mother. His grandfather stood next to me and kindly asked.
- Would you like to take a little stroll with me? - I nodded and locked my arm with the old man's. Despite his aura, he was in his late seventies and I wanted to help him this way. But he looked at me offended.
- I don't need help! - he said with a stubborn tone and I smiled at him.
- I didn't assume, I thought since I'm going on a stroll in such a beautiful house with a real gentleman this is the correct way. I'm sorry if I offended you. - he looked surprised and when I tried to pull my arm away he held it back.
- Let's walk like this, if you fall in those heels you're going to hurt yourself.
- Thank you for your worry! - we walked in silence through the gorgeous halls and ended up taking a small walk in the garden. It was neatly taken care of, with many roses blooming and filling the warm air woth their scents. There was a kittle fountain in the middle fo the garden with a bench and we walked there taking a break sitting down and listening to the sound of the night. Mr Kane leaned ahead and picked something from the ground, until he lifted it I haven't noticed. It was a tiny daisy that gree at the leg of the bench.
- May I? - he asked and I leaned closer so he could out it in my hair.
- It is beautiful, thank you. - he looked at me and sighed.
- You are too good for this wicked family my dear.
- Sorry? - he looked ahead with a sad smile on his face. His wrinkles seemed to deepen before he talked.
- You remind me so much of my late wife. She was just like you, a ray of sunshine. Wherever she went, her presence illuminated the room and made everyone smile. She was my hero, my Spring. I was too young and too greedy. I wanted her affection and warmth till my dying days, and I decided to marry her. We had my son, and I thought I couldn't be happier, but than, it happened.
- What happened? - I asked and his eyes filled with tears before he forced a smile looking into my eyes. I saw a broken man, a great and strong man, destroyed by the loss of someone precious to him. Papa held my hand sand after sighing out loudly he said.
- It happened what happens to kind people in a dark world. Her light got extinguished. Margarita, I'm old and maybe already a fool, but I see how you look at my grandson, I don't intend to hurt you, but he is not looking at you the same way. Run away Margarita, before this family and my stupid grandson extinguishes your light as well. - My heart hurt for him and I couldn't helo but gave a peck on top of his almost bold head. He got surprised and I giggled.
- Sorry. You may be right Papa, he doesn't look at me the same way, but I know he cares for me. I've been head over heels for him since I have consciousness, so I'm willing to wait a little more for my well deserved recognition. - he sighed and stood up.
- Foolish girl. - he said in a nagging tone and I got up locking my arm with his again and rested my head on his shoulder for a moment saying.
- That's why this fool needs your guidance, so I won't get lost. - He shook his head and as we walked back to the house he said.
- You are a stubborn one, I wonder if he knows what he got himself into.
- Papa, you were worried for me just a moment ago and now you pity Marc? I feel betrayed! -I pouted and he laughed. His laughter echoed throughout the corridors and he said.
- I definitely feel sorry for him now dear!
- I'm confident he was raised right! I believe in him! - we both laughed and our ways crossed Marcus's. Who stopped in front of us with a totally confused expression.
- What are you looking at bambino! Close your mouth before a fly flys into it! - Papa scolded Marcus and I laughed with the old man.
- I came to escort you to our room... - Marcus mumbled and his grandpa smiled. He released my arm and kissed the back of my hand.
- I really enjoyed out stroll. - he said.
- Me too! Let's take another one while I'm here! - Papa nodded and looked at Marcus shaking his head.
- Fool. - he said and putting his hands behind his back he walked away. I had to snap my fingers in front of Marcus's face to make him react.
- What? - he asked and looked like someone who just woke up.
- Earth calls Marcus! Let's go to our room. - he nodded and without a word he lead me to a bedroom with a huge bed and expensive red curtains. The floor had a really soft creme colored fluffy carpet and I couldn't help myself. I leaned down on the carpet and giggled rolling om the soft material.
- What are you doing? - Marcus asked and I sat up.
- Try it, it's comfy!
- No way! - I grabbed his amr and pulled him down. Unfortunately I miscalculated the force of gravity and he fall above me. Marcus stopped himself in time before out head collided. The bedroom door swung open and I heard Mrs. Kane's voice.
- Marc I forgot to tell you to... Oh my God! Sorry kids! Go on! I haven't seen anything! Those good old days! - she said before closing the door. Marcus gave up and landed on me.
- You are heavy. - I said and rolled him off of me. He was now leaning on the carpet next to me and we watched the fresco painted on the ceiling.
- You were right. - I looked at him as he watched the ceiling relaxed.
- It is really comfy here. - he looked so handsome in that moment that I really wanted to kiss him. He turned towards me with a strange sparkle in his eyes and I caressed his face.
- Daisy... - he said and I smiled.
- Just close your eyes for a moment and relax. - I caressed his face and hair.
- We had a long day, let's make a pause in our bet and just relax. - he smiled and mumbled.
- My grandfather is really fond of you.
- He is a really sweet man.
- What were you two talking about?
- The past and the future. He told me about your grandma and recommended me to run away before it's too late for me too. You need to improve your acting skills in front of him. He is a sly old fox.
- Why should I? - I closed my eyes as well. I couldn't look at him while stating the obvious.
- He told me that you are not looking at me like I look at you. So to avoid him finding out the truth, try something else in front of him next time.
- I'll do my best not to get caught. - he said and I looked at him again. I kept caressing his black hair and he relaxed with eyes closed. I'm sorry Papa, it looks like in our story, I'm the greedy one...
