Ch.16

Once we were inside the condo, Caeleb locked the door. He grabbed me by the wrist and pushed me against the door. He crashed his lips into mine and I wrapped my arms around his neck and began to kiss him back. It was a heated makeout session for a few minutes before he pulled away. He rested his head against mine and sighed.

"What's wrong, Caeleb?"

"I have to tell you about those guys and I don't want it to change the way you feel about me, Skyla."

"Caeleb, I doubt my feelings for you will change after you tell me."

"I hope they won't because you are the first girl I have ever truly cared bout and I don't want to lose you."

"Tell me what is going on, Caeleb. Are those the guys who hurt you?"

"Remember how I told you I lived with my aunt before I moved here? No they are not the ones who hurt me."

"Yeah. You told me she had bad habits and that's why you left. How do those guys fit in with your aunt then?"

Well, my aunt's bad habit was she was really bad off on dr*gs and on top of that, she also suffered from mental issues. Those guys who you saw earlier, my aunt told them that she could turn a profit and make double what they would get for what they were selling and they gave her the dr*gs. Well, she ran off and ended up using them for herself and when they came to collect, I was home and they beat me trying to find out where my aunt was. They told me I either find my aunt and get their money or I was responsible for paying her debt. They told me I could either pay it with cash or my life. I left after that and I was able to stay under the radar until now. I don't know how they found me but they have been coming by every week collecting money on her debt. What you saw today was me telling them that I was done paying for my aunt's f*ck up and they could go find her to collect the rest of her debt. If you hadn't of walked up and screamed out my name, they were probably going to beat the sh*t out of me or worse k*ll me."

"Why didn't you go to the police about it when they first came to your aunt's house, Caeleb?"

"I knew that with my juvenile record, they wouldn't do anything to help me."

"Caeleb, I am so sorry you have had to deal with paying on your aunt's debt. How much is left? Maybe I can help pay it so they will leave you alone."

"Skyla, it's a lot."

"I have money saved and I should be getting more soon."

"Skyla, I love that you want to help but it's half a million dollars, baby."

"Holy sh*t! You need to go to the police, Caeleb."

"I know I need to do something but I doubt the police here will get involved."

"The least you could do is go talk to them."

"You are right. I could go talk to them and let them know about the guys being in town. I want to do something for you for your birthday but I don't want to risk taking you out and them finding us. I don't know if they would try to do something to you."

"It's ok, Caeleb. You don't have to take me out. Just being here and spending time with you is enough for me."

"How about I order us some food and have it delivered?"

"That sounds good. What are you thinking?"

"It's your day, babe. You pick."

"Hm. I say we get steak and lobster tail?"

"Sounds good to me, babe."

Caeleb called and ordered the food and I sat down on the couch in the living area. I turned the TV on and flipped through the channels. When the food arrived, I turned the channel to Teen Wolf and we sat there and ate. It was nice being able to have dinner with someone and it did not turn into an argument or talking about my brother. After we ate, we cleaned up our dinner mess and sat back on the couch, and watched another episode of Teen Wolf. I ended up falling asleep and woke up to Caeleb carrying me to the bedroom. I freaked out and asked what time it was and he told me it was 1:35 a.m. I started to say that Aaron was going to kill me but I remembered that he couldn't tell me what to do anymore. I relaxed and melted into Caeleb's arms.
