It took me about three weeks to recover from my fight with Ash, in the mean time, I found myself in the library a lot. Since I couldn't exactly train with such deep injuries without risking a lot of blood loss.
I sat at a table in the massive library, books towering to the ceiling, as I read book after book. Enjoying the quiet, the soft fragrance that seemed to linger in libraries, yet I'd never been sure what It was, and it was the sort of smell that couldn't be copied or smelt anywhere else.
I read, and read, when I heard someone behind me, and quickly turned to see Kio, who grinned. "Long time no see feya." I glared at him. "Faya." I corrected, standing, setting my book down.
Kio smirked. "you've received quite the reputation, fighting Ash and loosing so... Horribly not a single hit huh? That's rather pathetic." I sighed. "Don't bother, Jade beat you to that remark."
Kio chuckled. "I'm sure she did, I'm only saying, if you have any hope to be one of the top five you'll need to do better then that, but I can't help wonder... Why you want to be top five so bad?"
I could've easily come up with a lie that sounded reasonable, something like, wanting power, or just for the thrill, but yet, what came out of my stupid mouth was...
"So I can kill you, duh." My eyes widened the moment it left my mouth, and I immediately thought that was it, but kio only laughed, and with a single movement, pinned me to the library wall, he leaned close, his hot breath brushing against my neck.
"I always assumed that's been you plan... I just never expected you to say it out loud." My eyes widened in shock and fear. Oh no, this was bad. "you... Know? Why didn't you say something? Or kill me?" Kio laughed.
"What's the fun in that? We both know you'd never succeed in killing me, besides, like it or not, you have potential. I'm not wasting that over a simple... Lack of common ground." My eyes were wide in shock. Lack of common ground?! Was he insane?!
He pulled away, and extended his hand. "Come on, I want to show you something. It's about time I show you why we're here." I sighed, It might be a trap, but yet, I found myself taking his hand, curiosity overcoming me.
In a flash, he telaported somewhere else, by now I was used to the gut wrenching feeling that came with teleportation, the blind of lights, the feeling of spinning that makes many dizzy.
When I opened my eyes, and the lights and spinning had stopped, when my guts calmed, I found we stood on top of a dead, leafless tree, I quickly gripped onto Kio, my heart pounding in horror at the height, but what was worse then the height, was the devastating state of the surroundings.
Death. Everywhere you looked for miles was only death and ruin, tree stumps, and dead grass lined the earth. Human bones scattered across the ground, I trembled.
There were holes in the ground looking like they were from bombs, it looked like a battlefield. "Humans are constantly at war with eachother. It caused pain, fear, death, and ruin. To everything and everyone around. This is just one of many battlefields, of which prove that.
If we did not come, then one day, every part of the earth would look like this." I sighed, It was a horrifying sight, as quickly as we appeared, we found ourselves back in the library. "Do you get it now? We aren't the bad guys. If we didn't come here, humans would've killed themselves, this planet and everything else!"
I sighed, looking at the ground. My hands fists at my side, my feet heavy on the floor. "That may be true, but you still killed countless people, innocent people. Children, brothers, sisters, mother's father's." My eyes watered.
"Those people didn't cause wars! If you really just wanted to end wars. You would have simply disposed of people who caused them!" Kio scoffed.
"You think that would be enough? If we did that, it's only a matter of time until more just like them were to start their own wars." I sighed. "Even then..." My body trembled. "you had no right to choose!! You had no right!"
My body shook, and I collapsed, my emotions too much to carry any longer. With a sigh, Kio turned around. "fine, be stubborn. It'll only get you killed feya." With that, he vanished, and with a shaking voice, tears streaming down my face, I whispered.
"It's Faya, Asshole."
