Chapter Nine

I sat on the bed in my room, still processing what I now knew. If I could hold my own that long with a fight with one of the top five, and get close to winning, that meant I stood a good chance against the fifth ranker. I had to be sure I could win though, this wasn't some silly sports contest. I'd done my research, if you wanted to get into the top five ranks, you had to challenge one of the people in the top five. After that, it was a fight to the death. I knew no one within the top five would refuse a challenge, they had to show they were worth their title, and it was clear I'd stand no chance against almost anyone in the top five but with more training, I might stand a chance against the fifth rank. I didn't want to fight, much less kill. The only one I was here to kill was Kio, but if I had any chance of doing that I'd need to be in the top five, and this was the only way. I'd realized I stood no chance against kio when he was awake, my best chance was to do it while he was sleeping, the issue with that was his room was in a separate part of the building, same as the top five, who stayed in the same part of the building, that part of the building had walls made of material which prevented people from teleporting in. Meaning the only ones who could get close to him while he was asleep and unable to fight if someone attacked, was the top five. No one else was allowed within that part of the building. I wasn't an i***t, I'd never try killing Kio while he was awake, no one could succeed in that. I sighed. I needed more training, if I died while challenging the fifth rank, then all of this would have been for nothing. Closing my eyes, I telaported back to the training area. As I walked towards one of the machines I noticed the guy with the glasses talking to someone else, and quickly hit behind a machine. The other person he was talking to, appeared to be a scwany guy with short messy pink hair. His red eyes shined as he looked up at the glasses guy, his frame even smaller then Jade's. "You should warn Marcus, according to Jade she has a sneaking suspicion the new girl is going to attempt to fight him soon." The glasses guy said, his arms crossed. The scwany guy's eyes widened. "So soon? That's practically suicide!" The glasses guy sighed. "I thought that too, but even Kio thinks she might have a chance. She's nothing compared to the rest of us, sure, but she's still strong. It's... Not normal. For some teenager to be this strong this fast, it seems she gets better every hour she trains." I wasn't expecting glasses guy to say that. I thought he hated me, but he sounded slightly impressed as he spoke of me. The pink haired guy shrugged. "oh well, if Marcus is weaker then he'll deserve the death." My eyes widened in surprise, they cared that little if someone died?! The glasses guy nodded in agreement. "That's true. All I can say for certain, is it won't be long before she challenges him, and one of them will die. This girl seems smart, I have a feeling she'll train a bit more first. So we should leave so she can stop spying on us and get to training." My eyes widened. WHAT? I was just about to ask, to get out of my hiding spot to see why, how they knew. Did they really know I was there the whole time? Instead, they both disappeard. Teleporting who knows where, leaving me alone in the room. I had a sneaking suspicion that pink haired guy was one of the top five, he didn't look like it, but he had to be above Jade, since Jade was fourth ranking, and they were talking about the fifth. So did that mean the pink haired was third or second ranking? Maybe even first? I sighed. It didn't really matter their rankings. All that mattered was even they seemed to belive I had a chance. If that was the case. I had to train hard, and ensure I did infact win against this... Marcus guy.
