Chapter Eight

I couldn't tell you how many hours I spent that day, I fought against the defenseless punching bag, Shadow boxed, practiced my abilities, lifting weights with telekinesis. Ran as quickly as I could on the treadmills, I trained, and trained, until I couldn't see, couldn't think, could barely stand. My hair up, my breathing shallow, sweaty and exhausted I pushed myself. Pushed, and pushed. I hadn't noticed when someone walked in, watching me practice until at some point, I heard their voice. "Not bad newbie. How about a real challenge? I'd be happy to spar." My head snapped from the bag I'd been punching to see a girl standing there. She looked around my age, dark skin, black curly hair, and of course, glowing red eyes. Her frame seemed small, and her height was only around 5'2. However she carried herself with confidence. The girl walked up to me, and I quickly straightened, my eyes meeting hers. "I'm Jade." The girl said, extending her hand to shake mine, slightly hesitant, I shook her hand. "I'm Faya." Jade nodded, and I realesed her hand. "So, are we going to stand here and chat or spar?" She said with a gentle smile. She didn't look like much of a challenge, but I remembered the man with glasses, and the words he said. He had told me I wouldn't stand a chance against the weakest invader here. If that was true, then I needed to stay on my gaurd. With a deep breath I nodded. "Okay. Let's do this." The girl smirked, and walked into the middle of the room, getting in a fighting stance, I followed suit. Getting in my own fighting stance, I looked over her, trying to find a weak spot, and in a snap, she moved forward, throwing a punch. I quickly dogde, counter attacking, but she moved swiftly, her small frame helping her easily dogde every punch I made. While I struggled to keep up, she landed one hard punch on my stomach, and I fell to the ground, grasping my stomach. The girl looked down at me with a smirk. "And Kio said you were promising, what a load of bullshit. Your weak, Faya. You always will be here." I glared at her. "Just give up already, you stand no chance, you'd die in the hand of the weakest here with ease." She said. I felt my blood boil at her cruel words, pushing myself up, my hands fists at my hands Jade laughed. "don't know when to quit huh?" My veins flooded with anger, and giving her no chance to attack, I telaported behind her, and kicked and punched her at the same time as hard as possible, and to both of our surprise the girl flew, landing on the ground with a thud. I expected her to apologize or something but instead she laughed, stumbling slightly as she stood. "Finally. I thought you'd never stop holding back." My eyes widened. Did she- before I could think, she attacked again, and I quickly defended, countering her attacks. My whole life, I'd always hold back, I called half my strength my full strength, even to myself. I didn't want to hurt anyone if not necessary, but I'd forgotten, holding back here, could get me killed. Somehow, Jade seemed to have realized I was holding back, and gave me no choice but to stop holding back. We faught, each throwing brutal punches and blows, with another punch, I sent her back to the ground, my eyes widened, seeing a bit of blood drip from her forehead, she wiped her forehead and looked at her hand, with a smirk, she stood. "My turn." Before I could react, moving quicker then the speed of sound, She had reached me, and slammed me against the wall, punching me right in the face. I flinched in pain as she let go of me and I fell to the ground. Jade smirked, taking a step back. "I'll take that as a win. You have promise, that's true, but your too soft. You won't last a month here." With that, Jade walked away, leaving me on the floor. I trembled, blood dripping from my face, I quickly wiped it away, forcing myself to stand, my legs shaking as I put a hand on the wall for support. I heard a cold laugh from the corner of the room, turning to the sound, I seen Kio, walking closer. "That was some show feya." I rolled my eyes. "Faya." I corrected under my breath, looking in his eyes. Kio smirked. "Your strong, I knew it was a good idea turning you. You actually made one of the top five bleed. Good work." My eyes widened in shock. "Wait... Jade was... One of the top five?" I asked, my eyes wide in shock. Kio nodded. "She is. Her ranking is four among them, Meaning the only ones stronger then her, is me, and the three who rank above her. Keep up the good work, who knows, maybe you'll be taking a spot in the top five soon." He said, before walking away, leaving me with that information.
